Alterin Saga: Biohazard
Episode 2: The voices of the night

I opened the door to my apartment. Well, after all the things that happened with Sam, I finally got to the apartment.

I'd better get in. Winter is terrible at night.

...---...

The one who was chasing us was my neighbor. He was wearing a fur coat and High Heels shoes. A student wearing glasses, my neighbor apparently.

"Miko? Apparently you, huh?" I finally breathed a sigh of relief after recognizing that person. Her name is Miko, my neighbor whom I talked to Daniel at the office.

"You dropped your key, Rave" he said as he held out a shiny object in his right hand. Oh, so it's just a key.

I picked up Sam who had trouble standing because of a sprained leg. Then take the key.

"Thank you, Miko. By the way, what are you doing here?" I'm curious about him, who's been out all night lately.

"Ah, I work. You know, right. To meet the monthly money while in college," he said as he tightened his fur coat.

"That's it, huh? You want to come with us home? The train leaves soon"

"What about your friend?" Miko pointed at Sam—more precisely Sam's foot.

"It's okay. It only hurts a little while walking," Sam smiled.

"This is my friend, Miko. His name is Sam," I introduced them.

"Greetings known"

"The train leaves in 5 minutes. Still could. Come on," me, Sam, and Miko walk back down the dim streets. At that moment, a red full moon illuminated the path we were taking.

...---...

I turned off the room lights, then lay down on the bed. This cold air, I don't like it. I immediately pulled out the blanket, curled up inside.

Ting!

There's an incoming message on my phone. I checked it and found Sam's name there.

"Rave, sorry to bother you this late. But, can you pick me up at the office tomorrow?"

I typed in a message, "Why?"

A few seconds later, he replied, "Last-lately, I somehow feel followed. I'm afraid, I think the person who was chasing us was that person. How's it?"

"I think can. But don't make me wait in front of your house too long" I replied.

"Thank you"

"Sama-sam—"

The dhuar!!!

I was shocked to hear the sound of an explosion from outside. I quickly got out of the apartment, in my makeshift pajamas. I saw some of my neighbors coming out as well, seeing the situation.

How shocked we were to see the sky of the city being brightened by the explosion. The direction of the Industrial District. Although the distance of this apartment was far from there, I could still clearly see the explosion.

"What's going on?!" the average neighbor reacts like that.

"Rave. that.." knew Miko was right next to me. He pointed to the night sky, above the source of the explosion.

The city alarm goes off loud, I've never heard of it. Like a siren of a tsunami wave, but louder. Bad sign, that's what people say. Then the speakers above the district office lit up.

"City residents' attention, we encountered a technical obstacle in the Industrial District. Please calm down and immediately go to the nearest evacuation post. We will deal with this matter soon" he said.

I looked towards Miko. He was still staring into the distance, towards the source of the explosion. He seemed scared of this.

"Hey, let's get to the evacuation post right away" I said, holding Miko's right hand. Some police came to handle the evacuation of the population. Police car sirens roared that night, along with city emergency sirens.

...---...

"God! The city's fucked up, man. Local police, firefighters, and even soldiers also handled the incident. The situation is very chaotic as you guys see—"

"What are you watching?" I asked when I saw Miko who was staring at her phone. We reached the evacuation post, sitting in one of the rows of waiting benches.

"Livestream one of the Vloggers. This guy was crazy enough to run away from the police to broadcast the incident in the Industrial District" Miko said.

I remembered something, "Have you called your parents about this incident?"

Miko let out a long breath, "They from the start didn't like this city. It's just free to tell them. Maybe now they're still sleeping soundly in their house in the next town"

I checked my pocket, found a cell phone to call Sam. Eh? Nothing in any pocket. It seemed to be left on the bed because I was in too much of a hurry.

"What's wrong? Your phone missing?" Miko could read my mind.

"It looks like it was left behind when I came out of the apartment," I let out a long sigh.

Suddenly Miko stood up from her stool, "I want to go to the toilet"

"Ah, me too," I immediately got up and followed Miko.

But, something that happened next, was very unexpected. Suddenly the lobby lights went out, making people noisier.

Dor's!

There's gun sounds out there. Then some policemen shouted, "Everything, hold that guy down!"

"Gosh, he's like a trance!" shouted the other policeman.

I immediately looked out the window. There was a man who walked—no, rather creeping on the street. Two policemen approached him. But, they were suddenly attacked by that person. One of the policemen who did not escape shouted as the man bit his neck until it broke.

Three of his colleagues screamed in horror. The people inside the evacuation building who saw him also shouted. That was terrible.

The man crept quickly towards the other police. This time the police dodged and opened fire, but missed. His fate was the same as that of his dead partner.

One of the policemen who saw the opportunity immediately pulled the trigger and shot the man in the head.

Dor's!

This time, on target. The man was immediately killed and fell on the asphalt of the road.

"What's that?!" the other policeman pointed to the end of the road. I reflexively looked there.

Someone—no, two, three. Dozens of men like this crept towards this evacuation building. They were like a flood, leaving the remaining 3 policemen helpless to handle it.

One of the policemen shouted at the building manager to close the door immediately. Others called the police station and hid in a car.

The policeman who was screaming had no time to take cover and eventually died torn apart. The building manager immediately closed the lobby entrance tightly. But it's only a matter of time that they will enter.
