Surprise From Coach

The next day, the cadets still had to undergo double training. This time they will do field science exercises. This exercise aims to test cadets about field science, map orientation and how to use a compass, both during the day, and at night. The first training is the use of a compass day and road map.

The cadets are provided with a piece of paper in the form of a map and also a compass. They followed the instructions given. This activity is done in groups. One group consisted of ten cadets. Azzam was in one group with Eko, Seno, Yakob and six others.

They walked through the forest while continuing to look at the map in his hands. The ten cadets stopped to look for the right direction, where they should go. Azzam used a compass in his hand, and began to look for directions. Eko with the map in his hand kept talking to Azzam. Adjusting the direction obtained by his partner.

“See directions, do you see anything else besides?”

Yakob and the others fell silent when a coach approached. The coach asked the progress of the group, and asked them to continue the journey, until they arrived at the designated point.

This training lasts until night. Midshipmen still have to walk with the help of a night compass. They got together and received direction from the coach. Azzam and his group walked through the forest relying only on the compass in his hand.

Azzam just smelled his smile just listening to the conversation of his three friends. He continued to concentrate on walking by occasionally looking at the compass in his hand. Unbeknownst to them, the coaches had also prepared a surprise for them. Some of the trainers were already dressed up like astral beings. Some look like pocongs, some are like kuntilanak. They had also prepared the ghost of a headless Japanese soldier that was placed in a fairly dark place.

Both of them soon passed leaving the pocong. Willi could not help his laughter. Zacharias only scratched his head which was not itchy. The other coach who recorded the scene also couldn't help but laugh. Almost the pocong got persecution from cadets who were harassed.

On the other hand, James and Azzam who walked together were also ready to accept the temptation of astral beings. From behind the big tree, came a coach wearing a kuntilanak costume as Azzam and Yakob passed by. At first they were surprised, but when they found out that it was the coach, they just laughed. The two soon continued their journey. Seno's heart is still pounding because of the silly actions of his best friend. He could breathe a sigh of relief when they had already reached the last post. There he saw that Zakaria, Willi, Azzam and Yakob had arrived first. After the cadets gathered, they were allowed to return to the barracks. Azzam and the others could not help but laugh at Eko's story of Seno being frightened when he saw the ghost sightings of Japanese soldiers so-so.

The next day, they would do niksarpur exercises or basic battle techniques. The cadets were taken to the training ground to repeat the basic battle techniques that had been delivered before.

The cadets will repeat the basic material of movement in the patrol, recalling the 5M material, which is disappearing, creeping, rolling, aiming and shooting. This basic ability is absolutely owned by cadets as a provision in carrying out their duties as a combat executor or while on operational duty.

They prepare to do exercises directed by the coaches. The cadets crawled, rolled, crept and threw grenades. Next, using a rifle, start aiming and shooting at the target. Exercise from morning until before Maghrib. The cadets returned to the barracks to rest for a while, and prepared to do the caraka exercises.

In the evening, all the cadets gathered and prepared to do the caraka exercises. They were still wearing striped field service clothes, helmets, carrying backpacks and holding weapons in their hands. Their faces were covered with black paint.

Caraka night is a communication technique used by soldiers in the past, at a time when technology was not yet modern as it is today. Where the army is given a message by its superiors, and the message must be delivered on purpose, the entire contents of the news are confidential and should not be leaked by anyone.

One by one, the cadets came to the coach. They should keep in mind the whole news given and should be delivered correctly, with no one left behind in the slightest. The message delivered, is not a written message, so cadets must remember it clearly and not wrong when delivering the message later.

After receiving a message from the coach, Azzam and the other cadets began walking through the forest. The dark conditions of the night, make them have to be careful when moving. Azzam was looking for the person who would receive his message. Along the way he kept trying to remember the message given to him.

Training after training has been the cadets run, ranging from shooting exercises, seepage, HTF, field science, niksarpur, caraka to sanjak. Now is the time for their final training. They'll do pioneer exercises. As usual, the cadets will be divided into several groups. They returned to practice on the slopes of Ungaran mountain.

Azzam this time a group with Willi and Zakaria. With the other cadets they immediately entered the forest. Before doing the pioneer exercise, they first face the coach. After getting a briefing from the coach, they immediately made their move.

As soon as it reached its intended point, some of them started digging holes. The soil from the excavation is piled on the front, until it forms like a step. After the hole or trench they dug deep enough, in the front, precisely near the steps given a barrier in the form of plants.

In other parts, cadets set up camp for them to take shelter. The rest are for cooking. Alternately they go into the trenches. With weapons in his hands, they lurk and remain alert looking at the surroundings. Those who have finished guarding the trench, can return to the tent and enjoy the food that has been provided.
