Escape From Death

After four days of lying in a coma, Seno finally opened his eyes. The boy was still lying in the ICU room. The room is all white, the smell of drugs and disinfectants, and the sound of medical devices greet his five senses. Slowly her fingers moved, then lifted up and removed the oxygen mask on her face.

A nurse entered the intensive room. Once he saw Seno had regained consciousness, he immediately came out again to call the doctor who handled Seno. Shortly after, a middle-aged male doctor came into the room. He immediately approached the Seno bed.

The doctor immediately checked on Seno. He took out a small flashlight from his snail-coat pocket. The man pointed the flashlight into Seno's eyes. He asked Seno to follow the movement of the flashlight in his hand. Seno's eyes move to the right and left, following the direction of the light.

“You remember what your name is?”

“Se..no” replied Seno in a raucous voice.

“Welcome back Seno. You are a tough fighter. You managed to escape death,” the doctor patted Seno's shoulder slowly.

“Doctor.. Eko.. how is it?”

For a moment the doctor did not answer Seno's question. He looked at the nurse standing next to him for a moment. Seno stared at the doctor without blinking, waiting for a reply to come out of the man's mouth.

“Now you better focus first on recovering yourself. Don't think about anything else.”

“But doctor.”

“If you are out of the ICU room, you will know the news about your friend.”

The doctor looked at Seno with a reassuring face. Finally Seno nodded her head. The doctor smiled at Seno, then walked out of the room. It was risky for him to tell about Eko when Seno had just woken up from his coma. No one knew how the young man would react. The only way is to buy time and wait for the right moment to tell the truth.

After the death of doctors and nurses, Seno could only lie down while staring at the ceiling of the intensive care room. Her eyes glazed over as she re-imagined the tragic events that befell her and Eko. It is still clear in his memory, how Eko's body collapsed with a face drenched in blood after being beaten all-out by Gusti and his two friends.

Two days later, Seno was transferred to a regular treatment room after her condition was declared stable. The young man was taken to an isolation room. There is only one bed, a nightstand and a chair for those who come to visit. Seno's room was separated from other patients, in front of the room was placed a corporal who guarded his room.

None of his friends or family came to see him. Seno wonders for herself, why none of her family came. He asked the man standing in front of his room. But to get up from his bed and walk out, his physique has not been able to. Doctors advised the young man to lie down more to recover his condition. His broken ribs made Seno not move freely, until his condition was completely recovered.

A well-built man, dressed in TNI Air Force service clothes walked over to Seno's treatment room. On his arm was a two-line rank mark, meaning that the soldier was a first lieutenant. Lettu Putra immediately came to the hospital to see the state of Seno on the orders of Major Indra. His superior was still in the isolation room, and could not get out of there until the academy's governor allowed it.

“Commander,” call Seno.

“Thank God you are better.”

“Eko.. how is Eko doing? Is he still in the ICU room?”

There was no reply from Lettu Putra, the man lowered his head. Seno was increasingly made suspicious of the man's reaction. He was afraid that his best friend was in a severe condition and until now had not come out of the ICU room, or worse, Eko could not be saved. But in a hurry Seno dismissed his bad thoughts.

“Commander, please answer. How is Eko?”

“Sorry..” replied Lettu Putra slowly.

“What does commander mean? What happened to Eko? What's wrong with her?!”

“Eko is dead.”

“What?”

Chief Seno was hit like a big mace hearing Lettu Putra's answer. The young man's eyes glazed over, then started crying while calling his best friend's name.

“Eko.. Eko.. EKOOOOOOOOOOO!! AAAARRGGGGGHHHHH!!!”

Seno shouted loudly while calling out Eko's name on the sidelines of her cries. The young man was shocked to hear that his friend had died helping him. Seno beat her chest and head while continuing to cry and scream. Lettu Putra held Seno's hand, one hand grabbed the bell near the bed and pressed it.

A nurse immediately entered the room. Hurry up he goes back to his desk to call the doctor on duty. Seeing the hysterical Seno, even trying to hurt his own body, the doctor decided to give a sedative injection for the young man. Seno's body slowly fell down after the drug injected into him worked.
