Cry, Or Better Yet Beg

Cry, Or Better Yet Beg
chapter 30.I'll Do My Best

After a satisfying dinner, Leyla and Kyle walk down the night street, enjoying an ice cream in their hands. Kyle was eager to stay with him even though he had told him to come back soon and prepare for tomorrow's exam.

“I have to digest the food first so I can prepare well for the test tomorrow.”

Leyla tightened her seatbelt, unable to give an answer for her self-confidence.

“Then, let's walk for a while,” said, “but Kyle..”.

"Hmm?"

“Why do you want to marry me?”

Leyla asked carefully. A cold, sweet taste of ice cream was applied to his lips.

“If you do it just out of pity..”.

“Leyla Lewellin.”

Kyle cut him off, called out his name firmly, and stepped forward Leyla, who was slightly surprised by his cold voice.

“Do you see me as the kind of crazy guy who marries someone out of sympathy?”

Her unfamiliar expression made Leyla speechless, and she fell silent.

“Yeah, the world is vast. There may be a lot of crazy people getting married for such reasons, but I am not one of them.”

Kyle let out air from his lungs slowly, letting his anger subside.

"Do you know why? That's because I love you.”

“Kyle..”

“That's my only reason. Because I love Leyla Lewellin.”

As he looked towards Leyla's raised brows, Kyle sighed and then chuckled. “Who do you think is more pathetic? I've been rejected a hundred times or you? I'm the one who's the saddest, Leyla.”

Kyle said as he started to ruffle Leyla's hair and took a step forward. He did not want Leyla to see what expression she was showing at the moment, which was definitely very ridiculous.

As if she knew what she was going through, Leyla followed behind, creating a distance between them.

After the journey home was shackled in deafening silence, the two finally arrived in front of the hotel.

“Log in,” Kyle said to her. With a smile on his face, he added, “Oh, I forgot, I haven't done it today.”

He slowly raised his eyes after staring at the melted ice cream cup in his hand. He has remembered something.

“Leyla, let's get married.”

However, a setback was already visible before his eyes. However Kyle found it a bit strange to miss it now that Leyla's refusal had become a daily routine for him.

For some reason, today, Leyla, who used to reject her proposal by shrugging indifferently, became very quiet.

Kyle looked at him with narrowed eyes as he watched him attentively. “I won't get married,” She's preparing to hear the sweet but heartless response that should have come from her slowly opened lips. But instead, his response was something that surpassed his wildest dreams.

“Mm.”

“... Leyla?”

Kyle was shocked. The ice cream cup he was holding fell to the ground, soiling the tip of his shoe.

Those words disappointed him. He was confused by his direct answer.

“Eh..... So, did you agree to marry me?”

As she made sure, Leyla lowered her head and nodded.

“You want to get married, right? Me?"

He repeated the question with a trembling voice. Leyla glimpsed him shyly and nodded her head slightly once more.

He was momentarily at a loss for words. But Kyle was already screaming in excitement as he held onto his shoulder.

“Woooooooo!”

They made hotel guests who happened to pass by look at them. Kyle didn't seem to care even though Leyla screamed as she turned it around.

It was a beautiful spring night.

The breeze put the city back to sleep.

That night Kyle had a dream.

He dreams of marrying Leyla and living their daily lives blissfully as Etman's partner.

Leyla once said to him; having her own home with a small flower bed was her long-dreamed dream. She smiled shyly and voiced her happiness. She hoped that the roses she planted in the garden would all bloom beautifully.

In her dream, she saw Leyla diligently taking care of the flower garden. The little boy running beside her was prettier than a blooming rose.

The sun was shining brightly, and the child's laughter was full of excitement.

'Dad-!'

The boy who saw him immediately ran. She was a beautiful little girl who looked a lot like Leyla with her blonde hair. The toddler jumped to his feet and greeted him with sparkling eyes.

The scent of air caressed her as she walked towards him while holding their beautiful daughter. The scent of the sweet rose carried by the faint breeze tickled the tip of her nose delightfully.

Leyla laughed as her eyes stared at Leyla for longer. Her smile was so beautiful, perhaps even more beautiful than her dream.

In the remains of his fading dream, Kyle awakens with phosphen still in his eyes. Thanks to that feeling of happiness, he performed much better than he expected in the test.

He can't believe it.

Will his dream come true soon?

Is there a blessing in this world greater than that?

As soon as he exited the examination hall, Kyle felt he could jump to heights in the sky. Her footsteps were like having wings, she felt free like a bird that had just left her nest when she saw Leyla sitting on a bench outside, waiting for her.

“Leyla!”

Leyla raised her head hearing her scream. He folded the little notebook he was reading and put it back in his sling bag.

"How's the test?" He approached her happily. “Is it difficult? Did you do well?”

“You always worry about everything.” Kyle raised his chin as if he was flaunting it. “I'm Kyle Etman. I don't know how to get second place in studies.”

“Oh, hahaha. Then you did well.”

Leyla laughed out loud.

“I momentarily forgot how clever Mr. Etman.” is

"Wow. It makes me very sad to hear it. Make sure you remember it from now on.”

As she was looking at him, the spring sunshine in the afternoon with a dazzling red golden color shone at the corner of her lips as she returned a gentle smile to him.

“Are you sure you did a good test?” leyla asked carefully, as she seemed to be unable to shake her fear.

Kyle smirked at her after seeing how adorable she was. "Don't worry. I won't fail the exam, so there won't be anything bad preventing us from going to college together.”

"That's not what I meant…."

Leyla's cheeks blushed pink. As he looked at the adorable sweet face of his ripe peaches, Kyle's heart started beating erratically. He regretted that they were at the test site at the moment. If they were on a deserted road, Kyle would definitely dare to kiss her right now.

'NO.'

'If I do that for no reason, Leyla will be scared, so I'd better wait a little longer.'

One of his thoughts floated back to the shovel, which he had forgotten. A giant shovel full of land, and an alarming smile of Uncle Bill.

The two slowly walked around the campus, with their hands tightly intertwined. Walk from the medical facility where Kyle will study as a doctor, then to the biology room where Leyla will enroll in the future. They laughed and chatted excitedly and had fun throughout the journey.

“You must have passed, but it might be a bit difficult for me.”

Leyla muttered with a serious face when she reached the biology faculty building.

“Why are you worried about that? Didn't you do your exams well?”

“That's true, but only a few schoolgirls take the exam early.”

His face became even more grim as the conversation continued.

Kyle nods his head, “Ah He breathed for a moment.

It was only a few years ago that women were allowed to pursue higher education at the same level as men in Imperial universities. Due to the rigorous selection process, few students can pass because the threshold of college entrance exam scores for female students is much higher.

“Fixed, I'm sure you'll pass.”

Kyle spoke with confidence.

“If you don't pass, who else will pass?”

“Don't you think you're too confident?”

"Absolutely not. This is my opinion based on your grade for eight years in school.”

“Eight years.. Already a lot of time passed.”.

Leyla could still vividly remember the road she had traveled to Arvis by postal train. Time passed in an instant. Kyle who was all grown up and standing before his eyes suddenly felt like a new person.

"What's wrong?"

Kyle, who was a little embarrassed by the sharp glare fixed on him, asked awkwardly.

“You have grown rapidly.”

Bafflement appeared in Leyla's eyes as she stared at him for a moment. Stunned, Kyle was completely at a loss as to what it was as if fine feathers had sprung from his chest. Leyla Lewellin's attractiveness didn't seem to diminish even when she said such ridiculous things, leaving her speechless.

"Uh huh."

Kyle smiled fakely. He took a deep breath and continued,

“Yes, I've grown well and become a good husband. Do you like it?"

“It.... I don't know.”

Leyla stiffly accelerated her pace. Kyle could not help but grin broadly when he saw his face being daubed from embarrassment.

On the way home, Kyle tells him about his beautiful dream, which will soon come true.

About home—how they will live together. Their daily lives as husband and wife. And also, their beautiful and soon-to-be-born child in the future.

He was eager to write a new chapter in the history of the Etman family, along with its descendants.

Kyle liked the look of caution that adorned his face when he talked about the dream. He was overjoyed to see that hope and dream almost come true.

It was a rather funny and sentimental thought. But she believes that's the reason why she was born into this world— to realize her hopes.

“How many children do you want to have?” Kyle asked him, “I wish I had a daughter and a son.”

“Yah.. maybe five?” he answers.

'Fi's...A five?' Kyle stood up. The numbers he spoke were opposite to his timid attitude.

“We will not be lonely if we have many children,” Leyla chuckles and continues, “We can depend on each other. I think it would be great if the house was full of people who looked like each other.”

For some reason, Kyle felt bitter when he saw Leyla say that with a beaming look. He could tell by staring at Leyla's bitter smile how long she had lived in loneliness.

“Five... okay, Leyla. I'll do my best!"

"Huh?"

Leyla's eyes widened at Kyle's loud promise. They looked at each other with blank expressions for a few seconds, then their cheeks flushed almost at the right moment.

“Hey, that's not what I mean!”

Kyle took a step back, his skin was redder than his.

“I don't just think about it.”

“I also don't!” Leyla snapped back, embarrassed by her words.

The two quickly released their clutches and walked away, not daring to make eye contact. Kyle looked at Leyla to the side, and the laughter he was enduring finally burst out from within.

“By the way, Leyla, did you feel embarrassed after deciding to have five children?”

Gasped. Leyla turned. Eyebrows wrinkling.

“You didn't think a stork would give you five babies, did you? Our Miss Lewellin, who is experienced in all subjects except geometry.”

Leyla continued walking, her face pouting, ignoring her mischievous temptation. Kyle's carefree laughter grew louder along with the clanking sound of his heels.

“Oh, wait for me, Mrs Etman!”

Her carefree cries echoed throughout the campus on one sunny spring day.

Leyla started running. His horse pigtail braided behind his head swung in unison with the pounding of his shoes on the asphalt.

Kyle was fascinated by the look of his back. Her statue gave her the feeling of returning to that beautiful dream once again.

And he doesn't want to wake up again.

Forever.
