“Very bad news.”
Duchess Norma gives a short but cold reply when Mrs Etman's story is picked up at the dinner table.
“I can't believe she, the wife of a prestigious doctor's family, was arrested for stealing. I wonder what kind of shit this is.”
After taking a sip of wine, he wiped his lips from being fed up with the vulgar story.
“I have to end my relationship with Mrs Etman.”
Elysee von Herhardt gave a similar response to her mother-in-law.
Linda Etman was locked up in a police station last night and was only released this afternoon after Bill and Leyla visited the police station, stating they did not want to extend the case because their money was already getting back.
“Very unfortunate Dr. Etman was deeply humiliated by this incident. He's a good guy, but should we change doctors?”
“Because this is not Dr's fault. Etman, I don't think we should. This kind of scandal will subside after a while.” The Duchess Norma resolutely voiced her unwavering belief in Dr. Etmanl.
“I hope Kyle isn't hurt because of this.”
He showed sympathy when talking about Kyle Etman.
“Now things have turned into a mess, I regret letting the child stay in Arvis.”
Elysee von Herhardt exclaimed at the end of his meal.
“Leyla created this whole situation. .”
He looked at Claudine as if looking for a deal.
“True, I think so too.” Claudine happily nodded her head. “Although accidentally, Leyla has destroyed the Etman.” household
As he said it resolutely, Claudine glanced across the table. Although he was basically a soft-spoken man, Matthias was very quiet at dinner. Even so, he showed no strange signs, instead he looked as gentle as ever.
As dinner is about to end, the scandal that ensnared Arvis manor will soon be forgotten.
Mathias went straight to his bedroom instead of going to his study.
He had instructed Hessen to send the spy who was trailing Linda Etman to the police station that day. Matthias wants him to testify against the theft when the postman is scheduled to deliver the documents to the station.
Given the proximity of the postman to Arvis employees, he predicted the rumors would spread quickly.
Everything went well according to his plan.
And Chef Arvis, a well-known news seller, played the last important role in helping the postman perform the duties of his whistleblower.
It was a cliche ending, but Matthias had a lot of fun.
'Is Linda Etman crying?'
Matthias' mind was looking around for the idea when he turned on the lights by the window.
'Maybe he did, like Leyla.'
******* that simple* adds a layer of excitement to his play.
The marriage of Leyla Lewellin and Kyle Etman has now crossed the line of no return. Even if there was such a thing as love, their marriage must have been set aside. In short, Leyla Lewellin had lost whatever luck she had.
Matthias left the window and walked towards the drink cabinet. All the drinks stored there were still unopened because he did not like alcohol.
He took out a bottle of wine closest to him and poured the yellow liquor into his crystal glass.
'Leyla's wings have been cut off.'
Matthias pondered calmly as he turned around, with a glass of wine in his hand.
'So Leyla would stay in a cage called Arvis.'
His satisfaction in knowing this fact outweighed his crude awareness.
Matthias spent a long time looking at his sleeping pin, asleep in his comfortable 'cage'. His gaze then turned to the garden outside the window before returning to the golden liquor in his hand.
Her current mood was not as bad as her mood on spring night when she heard about Leyla's upcoming marriage to the doctor's son.
The night was terrifying when he remembered when the desire to kill someone took hold of his head for the first time in his life.
The love story of Leyla and Kyle has a better ending than the death of someone.
Matthias put the drink he had not yet drunk on the table quietly.
Even without having to borrow the effects of the liquor, she already knew how to remove the lump in her heart and her beautiful sense of sadness.
He just needs to have it.
The school money theft case that makes Arvis residence excited, ended in the peak of summer.
The problem is solved perfectly, with Bill Remmer getting his money and Mrs. Etman avoided punishment thanks to his good intentions. Even so, it is not enough to eliminate the consequences and the adverse effects of the public mind.
“Kyle.”
Doctor Etman slowly opened the door of his son's room that did not respond to his knock.
Kyle was sitting quietly in front of the table. He continued to look out the window even though his father was approaching him.
“Kyle.” Dr. Etman called his name a second time and patted his shoulder.
Surprised, Kyle turned around. Face tired.
Dr. Etman took his hand off Kyle's shoulder and leaned against the edge of his desk.
“Your mother is a little better now.” She said.
"…Yes.Yes."
Kyle answered briefly.
“I'm looking for a home for you to live in Ratz.”
Dr. Etman calmly told him and Kyle looked puzzled.
"What do you mean by.... house?"
“This is a suitable house to live in by yourself, and equipped with furniture..”.
“Am I going to college alone?” Kyle asked while laughing scornfully. “Without Leyla? After I hurt her like that.. Am I going to college alone as if nothing happened?”
“I understand how you feel, Kyle, but your stubbornness in this matter will only hurt Leyla more and more.”
"Dad!"
“Thank you, Kyle, that your relationship with Leyla is over. This is the best option for you and Leyla and also for everyone. You two should live your own lives.”
Dr. Etman sounded resolute, even almost cold, ignoring Kyle's heartbreaking gaze. The situation itself was stifling for his son, but it was precisely for that reason that he needed to handle his son calmly.
There's nothing more important than protecting Kyle. He believes that Kyle's wounds will gradually disappear after leaving Carlsbar, distancing himself from Leyla, and getting to know the new environment at the university.
That is the only hope that Dr. Etman for now.
“Your mother is guilty, but that also does not absolve us of responsibility. We choose to ignore the fact that your mother's heart can never accept Leyla. You and I, it was us who pushed him into that corner.”
“Because Leyla is an orphan and has no glamorous background, she can't satisfy mother's arrogance, that's why I can't accept it? Is that what you mean?"
“Kyle, enough! Even if she's wrong, talking badly about your mother is unacceptable!”
“I don't know anymore. Is she my mother I've known and loved for a long time? And I don't know why I should go to college.?”.
“Are you going to give up your life because of your failed first love?”
“Leyla... Do you think she's only that big to me?”
“If that's not the case, you should try to be more level-headed. The more you act like an idiot, the more painful it is for Leyla!”
“But, I can't go alone without him.”
“You, and Leyla, now there is no hope anymore.”
"NO!" Kyle howling. "There must be a way. Somehow...If I beg, if I apologize, if I convince him otherwise.”.
“Wake up, Kyle Etman! Don't you know that it's impossible?!”
Dr. Etman violently shook his son's shoulders, his voice rising.
Kyle shook his head in denial. He pulled his father's hand from his shoulder and ran away from the room.
Dr. Etman, who knew where he was going, decided not to pursue him.
Even if it hurts him, he believes, Kyle must face a reality beyond his expectations.
Today's weather was scorching, but Leyla's clothes were well-groomed, almost stuffy.
Her blouse collar was neatly ironed, her buttons clicked to the neck, and her skirt was perfect, without even a single fold. Not to mention the stockings covering her slender legs.
His appearance did not look messy in the slightest; even the afternoon sun was diligently shining on the streets with its heat.
His cheeks were reddened and short of breath due to the heat. However, Leyla walked gallantly, keeping her posture upright even after reaching a deserted path without people.
Leyla Lewellin has recently gained sympathy from everyone everywhere she goes. People openly comforted her and vilified Mrs Etman. They kicked their tongues in the spleen, and few shed tears after hearing her heart-wrenching story.
Similarly today is no exception. The teacher at Gillis Girls' High School, whom Leyla met while looking for a job as a teacher, was the first to express her affection with a heavy sigh.
'Really, Leyla. You have to be upbeat and think realistically for the solution. It's sad, but what else can you do? It's all happened.'
He grabbed Leyla's hand and said words of comfort repeatedly. Similarly, the familiar faces he met in the city also did the same.
His gratitude to them was balanced with shame. Leyla was at a loss for words and only greeted them kindly with a faint smile.
Every time she did, Leyla tried not to assume about the faint smiles seen on people's lips. Luckily he didn't need to think about anything else because he was too busy maintaining his smile mask.
'I wish I could give you some time to spare, but this is the best thing I can do right now.'
Master Gillis gave a sighing reply after long consoling Leyla.
All teaching positions at Carlsbar Elementary School have been occupied. His last option was to work in a small town about an hour away by train.
Leyla finally accepted the job after much deliberation. Considering the round trip would be too tiring, he needed to find a boarding house near the school. However, he could return to Arvis on the weekend. Perhaps after a year of teaching there, he would be offered the opportunity to transfer to a school in Carlsbar.
Leyla took off her hat for a moment to recover her breath after arriving in front of the majestic gate of the Arvis Estate.
He's harder to deal with Uncle Bill than anyone else. Uncle Bill always gave him a grim look whenever he smiled in front of him. Therefore, she could not cry in front of him.
'Well, this is good news, so I think it's okay.'
Leyla walked along the street in blue funk pants. Although that doesn't mean he'll say goodbye to Uncle Bill forever, he gets annoyed whenever he thinks of attending a school that's too far from home.
As she walked, Leyla tried to make her smile a little brighter. He walked into the park, eager to tell Uncle Bill the news as soon as possible.
As he passed under the arched arbor in the rose garden, Kyle was already standing there, waiting for him.
“... Kyle?”
Leyla's pupils dilated. Kyle rushed up to him as if he was being chased by something and grabbed his wrist. He seemed to be a very different person at the moment.
“Come to go, Leyla.”
"Where to? Let go of my hand first and we can talk!”
“Let's run from here, we're alone.”
Kyle's grasp holding Leila's wrist grew stronger
