Cry, Or Better Yet Beg
chapter 36.So Then

“Did you find it, Master?”

Hessen entered the office shortly after the departure of Mark Evers.

“What happened to the thief who stole Bill Remmer's money?” Asked Matthias in a low tone.

“Officers are already on site, but have trouble finding evidence and eyewitnesses.”

“Then what about Leyla Lewellin tuition?”

“If the thief is not caught, Madam and Miss Brandt both say they want to pay tuition. And I think Dr. Etman is also ready.”

None of his reports seemed surprising.

Raising his chin, Matthias giggled and put down the file.

Linda Etman is the brain of this scheme.

Matthias was fixated on the information he got about the stupid stranger he met that morning.

Madame Etman at first glance seemed pleased with her son's marriage. But who would have thought that his exposed lines would be much more toxic and threatening?

Although it has nothing to do with him, Matthias does not want to miss the spectacle of their household drama that tickles.

The look on Leyla's face gave the impression that she was omniscient. But in reality, he did not understand at all how the world carried out its duties.

Should he now call him a fool?

As she considered Matthias' silence as a kind of resistance, Hessen ventured to ask, asking,

“Master, if your wish is different..”.

"NO." Matthias. A grin appeared on his lips. “I respect grandma's wish. I'm not against it.”

Ever since he said it, in Matthias' heart there was no doubt. Linda Etman must have plotted her plot wisely without losing any previous thought.

The chess piece he bought with his money was indeed a bit stupid, but not with a very precise and bold scheme. He's not naive enough not to know that many people would happily pay for Leyla Lewellin's missing tuition. She must have realized it just by looking at her husband.

So what is his real purpose?

Matthias touched the tip of his chin, put it into his brain.

Why would Linda Etman make such a fuss when she knew that it was impossible to block Leyla from going to college with Kyle Etman even if her money was stolen?

Matthias pursed his lips as if faced with an alluring puzzle.

“Put someone on Ny. Etman.”

Announcing Matthias while crossing his legs elegantly. Her displeased face was softer than the command that had just come out of her.

"Mrs. Etman's? Are we talking about Dr.'s wife. Etman, our family doctor?”

"Yes. Linda Etman's. Doctor's wife.”

His straightforward answer made Hessen stagger.

“There is only one thing you need to report.”

Matthias leaned his tired back against the sofa, a grin plastered on his face.

He said,

“Did Ms Etman meet with Leyla Lewellin separately? And what does he talk about if he does.”

The next day at dawn, police officers returned to Arvis. They visit the Duke's palace and meet Matthias by chance while he is descending the stairs towards the large lobby.

“Good morning, Duke.” A silver-haired man who was the commander of the police gallantly greeted him. “Yes, I feel ashamed of the theft.”

Matthias halted his steps in the middle of the hall, followed by Claudine and his attendants.

Hessen took a subtle approach and said, “They want to ask permission to do another investigation to find an eyewitness.”

Matthias nodded in agreement, “Sure, as many as you want.”

“Thank you, Duke.”

After saluting from their commanders in the front row, the young officers in the back immediately lowered their heads.

Matthias was about to continue his steps when the silver-haired attendant raised his head and suddenly called out to him.

“So, Duke.”

Matthias turned his gaze back, his face showing a calm demeanor.

“Did you see someone suspicious at the estate that morning?”

The hesitant officer asked the question carefully. Matthias took a moment and walked slowly closer to him.

'I saw it.'

It was a simple answer that he should have given, yet Matthias instead smiled gracefully. He pondered his thoughts on Leyla Lewellin for a while;

'What should I do?'

What if he uncovers a conspiracy. Etman and his broke cousin to thwart his son's marriage now?

Although a dire situation was in her hands, Linda Etman could still solve the problem as long as she did not show her real fangs in front of Leyla. There will likely be a commotion, but Matthias is confident it will only happen for a moment; Dr Etman and his son will go to great lengths to ensure the marriage is done.

However, Linda Etman is not the type of person who gives up easily.

Matthias looked up at the ceiling, and his gaze was fixed on the chandelier light.

Leyla Lewellin has earned a once-in-a-lifetime windfall; she will live happily ever after.

Mrs Etman will not be able to interfere after the two of them move into their newlyweds' residence in Ratz. Kyle Etman will be a devoted husband who loves and loves his wife. With her love spilling, Leyla will be able to learn as much as she wants and possibly pursue her dream of becoming a scholar.

Matthias lifted his gaze to the ornate inscriptions hewn on the ceiling, far above the lampshade of the chandelier.

She could definitely help Leyla if she was willing to trouble herself a little. Before Linda Etman met her, Matthias had the honor of meeting Kyle's mother first. Linda Etman would most likely retreat secretly without fanfare if she knew Duke Herhardt had known all his plans, and at least to save his face.

It seemed that this was the right way to reduce Leyla's injuries.

Matthias stared at the officer once more without saying a word. The senior officer stood in the state, interpreting Duke's silence as a rebuke of his rudeness.

Matthias knows what makes Leyla happy. And he could save the source of his happiness with just a flick of his finger.

'Until later…?'

Matthias lips came back grinning.

'What pleasure can she gain by helping Leyla find her happiness?'

All that was left in her was a bleak rose season in her absence, which would become a rift in her beautiful world.

“...I don't see anyone.”

Matthias answered briefly, narrowing his eyes as he looked at the officer. The faces of those who noticed them were a mixture of worry and relief.

"Ah yes. Thank you for your understanding, Duke. I'm sorry for all my rudeness.”

Matthias accepted his apology with a friendly nod.

“Have you ever seen a stranger?”

The officer's cooperative attitude prompted him to ask the same question to Claudine, who was standing behind Matthias.

"NO." Claudine replied without a moment's pause. “Unfortunately, I do not have any information that can help your investigation.” He glanced at Matthias briefly before turning to look at the attendant with a smiling face.

After the case was closed, Matthias then returned to walking. Officers were left questioning the employee, and Matthias got into a car parked outside the front door.

“You didn't forget your promise, did you?”

Claudine kindly reminded him of their afternoon appointment; to join Riette for dinner after having tea together.

“Of course I remember, Madam.”

Claudine's face sparkled at Matthias' reply.

The car drove away from the main gate of the Estate, and immediately left the Estate. Matthias turned his gaze out the window as the car drove down the road past the Doctor's residence.

Linda Etman expects pleasure beyond her wildest dreams as a reward for her hard work of waiting and seeing.

She was wearing a stylish purple dress. His face had thin makeup, and his choice hat was classy and simple in style. His appearance should not be conspicuous. However, his elegance barely made him look shabby in his clothes today.

Ms. Etman admired her reflection in the mirror for a moment before stepping out of the bedroom.

Today he chose to walk rather than take the train.

The place he was heading to was not a crowded place. She would not be noticed by everyone, so she deliberately chose a location far from the cottage because she needed a quiet place to meet Leyla.

Mrs Etman was a million miles away as she waited for the train at the stop. He had started everything, and there was no way to go back, he had no choice but to continue forward.

To his son, Kyle.

The carriage came shortly as he tried to gather his wits. Mrs Etman got into the car, and from her mouth came out****** a small* in her breath.

He was willing to do anything for Kyle's sake even if he wanted to become a villain.

The teahouse that Bu Etman told me about was located a few miles away from the city center. Leyla arrived earlier than the time of their appointment, so she sat at a table by a sunny window, waiting for Mrs to arrive. Etmanl.

Rows of brick houses overgrown with ivy plants lined across the narrow street, the width of which was barely enough for the cart to pass. Shops with simple and simple signage filled the left and right sides of the alley.

Same with the tea shop. Fading paint, worn furniture, and antique windows, as well as tested tablecloths, are some of them. It was a place that Bu Etman seemed to dislike.

'Why did he choose this place?'

Leyla decided not to be biased despite her vague feelings. The more he thought about it, the more anxious he became. He was reluctant to add more to his already burdened mind about the theft.

So, Leyla did not want to continue to assume the worst was likely to happen. Mrs Etman may need a private conversation with her in a less crowded place. There is a lot to discuss, and…

Layla's mind is trapped by analysis paralysis, soon distracted by the sound of the clanking of bells. He jumped to his feet, thinking that. Etman is coming. Instead, a young man walked into the store. He was dressed conservatively in a suit complete with a fedora hat. He sat down at a corner table and then opened the newspaper.

Leyla slumped in her chair, her eyes fixed on the tea stain on the tablecloth.

He went to the police station today, but so far his case has made no significant progress. The lack of witnesses and evidence makes it difficult for them to catch the thief. A policeman who felt sorry for him advised him well; it was better not to rely on shaky expectations and look for someone else to immediately lend him the money.

'Should I?'

Dr Etman, along with Duchess Norma and Lady Claudine, said they would pay for the tuition. This morning, Miss Mona also visited him. He sweetly comforts Leyla and Bill by telling them if the thief is not caught, Arvis workers have committed to raising funds for his college.

Their kindness weighed heavily on his heart.

When his deep sadness was revealed through******, the bell rang again. Leyla reflexively jumped out of her chair and turned around.

Hello, Mrs Etman.

Leyla smiled faintly and lowered her head. The real Madame Etman was now standing in front of the open door
