"What's? Come, Blaire. This isn't April Fool's. Your jokes aren't funny at all." Viktorija poured the tea that Blaire had made into her beloved porcelain cup.
"It's not a joke, ma'am. I'm really pregnant. Son of Christian," said Blaire.
"Christian?" Viktorija did not taste the tea that he was going to enjoy on that cold afternoon. The conversation with Blaire was much hotter than a cup of warm tea. Viktoriya stared intently at Blaire, who seemed to be trying to stay calm.
"Yes, Mom. Christian," said Blaire. "I've never made love to a man other than him."
"Geez!" Viktoriya stood up without turning his sharp gaze away from Blaire. The heavy breathing of the blonde woman on her shoulder sounded very clear. He seemed to be trying to control the enormous anger within him.
"How long have you known that guy, Blaire?" Viktorija's tone suddenly shot up.
In a matter of seconds, the cup and all sorts that were on the dining table, had scattered and fallen to head on the floor.
Blaire was so shocked at the uncontrollable attitude of her mother. Viktorija is a critical person, but she is not a woman of temperament. Viktorija, usually can always control emotions in all circumstances. But this time, the situation is very different. Blaire won't blame her mother for doing so.
"Where's your brain, Blaire?" show the woman who has been widowed for so long. "You're a smart girl and you always think rationally! You have a mother who is very chatty and also critical in every way! Is that not enough to be a fortress for you? How long have you known a Christian, so .. gosh, Blaire!" Viktorija's tone is still high. The anger in the middle-aged woman who still looked beautiful had not subsided, even though she had destroyed her beloved set cup.
"I love that man, Mom." Blaire fell down inside. He did not dare to fight the anger of the mother who was almost never like today.
Viktoriya is always calm. Usually he always faced everything with a cold head. However, it was no longer when he learned that the girl he loved so much, contained the seed of a man whose origins, identity, and whereabouts are unknown.
"You love her, but look what she did to you in return for the stupidest love that has covered your logic!" Hard, firm, and so piercing the words that Viktorija told Blaire. While the girl did not dare to argue in the slightest. He just bowed and remained silent.
"What am I supposed to tell your father? You've made me look stupid and feel like I'm the worst mom!" Viktoriya snorted in annoyance. He left Blaire alone.
"Christian .. you ...." Blaire's voice shuddered without saying anything more. Divorce tears that never greeted him, now it has been approached many times. I don't know how many drops fell from the feather of the blonde girl.
Is all this the fault of a Christian? Blaire nodded slowly. He got up from his seat and lowered his body. The girl picked up the shards of shard strewn across the kitchen floor while continuing to sob.
The longer, Blaire's slow sobbing turned into a bitter cry. He sat on the floor leaning against a wooden chair near the dining table. Over time, even heartbreaking wails were heard clearly.
While the afternoon had changed into twilight, then crept up to pick up the night. Blaire just finished cleaning the kitchen from all the mess due to the wrath of a Viktorija. He had even prepared dinner, even if it was just a simple menu. The girl didn't care if the mother would eat it or not.
Just when Blaire had finished all her work, Viktorija came back to him. The middle-aged woman raised a sharp gaze, which gradually turned so cute. "Rest. It is not good for women who are pregnant to be too tired" he said slowly.
"Mr ...." Blaire didn't know what to say, other than to slam into Viktorija's arms.
“I'm sorry I got out of control, Blaire. I just didn't think ...” Viktorija paused her sentence, while the woman's hand gently rubbed the princess's back.
“I'll soon be a grandmother,” muttered Viktorija softly while laughing softly, making Blaire's cry even more so.
“What should I do, Mom? Should I have this fetus?” his sobs.
Blaire's sobs never subsided, especially after the mother said so. What a weight he felt and experienced right now. Being two in her own condition, without a partner who might at least be able to reduce the psychological burden she will face.
“Breaklah. No need to regret everything that has happened,” said Viktoriya softly. For a moment, the look in his eyes led to Blaire's fingers spitting blood slightly from the flakes of the cup. The beautiful widow exhaled slowly. Highlight his eyes follow the footsteps of Blaire who walked up the stairs to get to the front of his room.
Blaire walked over, then threw herself on the bed. “Pregnant? Being mom?” his murmur was soft on himself. Blaire kept thinking, until she fell asleep.
Blaire wakes up when Viktoriya opens the door and brings her a glass of milk. “Minum. You have to consume a lot of nutritious food and drinks,” he said while putting a glass on the nightstand. The woman got out of there without saying much.
“Given your condition of having a lot of rest, it looks like I will find an employee to replace you in the store,” Viktorija said suddenly before closing the door to Blaire's room.
Blaire herself did not respond to her mother's words. But he also did not dare to argue. Blaire already lacked the courage to argue with her mother, after all she had done.
Without feeling it, a week has passed. Viktorija kept his word by hiring an officer at the store. The employee was none other than Aaron's younger brother who was the same age as Blaire. His mother even invited the girl named Natalie to visit home on her first day of work.
“Some days I haven't seen Blaire out of the house at all, Mrs Sutherland. Where is he?” ask the girl.
“My daughter is in her room. He has to rest a lot, calm the mind and should not be tired at all, ” Viktorija replied lightly while sipping tea on the front porch of the house.
“Is Blaire sick, Mistress?” ask Natalie again. The girl placed her empty tea cup onto the round-shaped patio table carefully.
“No. She is just pregnant,” Viktoriya replied. His face looked so flat when he said that.
Another case with Natalie who was so surprised. “Ha-pregnant?” reworked.
“Yes, as you just heard.” Viktorija chuckled softly while pretending to be busy wiggling her cup.
“Um, fine then. Excuse me, Mrs Sutherland. It's getting late. I have to help prepare dinner,” pamphit Natalie who looks a little hasty.
“Ya, sure. Say hello to your mother.” Viktoriya smiled warmly as he waved his hand. She kept watching Natalie who was half running towards her house, then went inside.
In the living room, it turned out that Blaire was already waiting for her with a sour face.
“For what mother told my pregnancy to the new neighbor?” his protest.
“It's okay Blaire. Sooner or later everyone will know what you are doing. Especially in a quiet suburban housing like the neighborhood where we live,” Viktorija replied as she passed from the presence of her daughter.
