Chapter 25: Dialogue When It Rains

"I'll drive you home, okay?" pinta Farrell, after he and Flo arrive in front of the school gates.

"Gak—"

"We don't need to go out together" Farrell added. "You can walk first, I'll follow you far from behind. I just don't want you to go home alone. It's afternoon, it'll be raining soon."

Long Flo fell silent. Worrying. He was deeply moved by Farrell's determination to drive him. It's true the weather is cloudy, maybe soon it will rain, but the day is not too late.

"No, I went home alone. Not too late afternoon either. And if it rains, even you're having a hard time coming home."

Flo was about to turn away when Farrell said, "I'll take Flo."

"Eh?" Flo cringing. What say?

"Fw..." Farrell repeats, "farrell's partner."

"Ah.. that," Flo instantly understood. Understandably, sometimes his brain is a bit slow when he is nervous.

"Flo's fine, right?"

Flo nodded. "He wants to eat."

"Can I take it now?"

Flo nodded again.

"Yes, you can walk first, I walk behind. Or across the street? Where are you more comfortable?"

Flo greatly appreciated Farrell's attitude that did not force him to go hand in hand. The man was really trying to give the distance he asked.

"It's ok. We can walk together."

Flo did not lie, he saw Farrell flabbergasted at what he said. Is that really his words?

"Seriously?" farrell asked, as if he could not believe the words he had heard.

"Yes. Later I also have to see you again when I love Flo," explained Flo. It would be strange if he keeps his distance now when at home he will have to face again.

And finally, Flo again stepped side by side with Farrell after a long time. The stiffness that once disappeared between them is now back again. Causing a silence that seems to be eternal.

Although his lips froze, Flo's mind was as crowded as traffic that afternoon. Noisy and busy. On one side of his mind asked him to reminisce about every sweet moment when he and Farrell were both, while the other part urged him to open the conversation as before. And no less disturbing was the pinch of instruction that demanded him withdraw his request for distance between them. Being near Farrell is really draining.

Up there the sky is gray. Lightning began flailing from behind the clouds, accompanied by thunderbolts that tried to rival the roaring sound of traffic.

Flo sped up his pace, as did Farrell by his side. But the rain started to fall. Forced both of them ran over the white fenced house that was already in the eyes.

Huh. It was fortunate that they reached the terrace just before the rain became heavy, Flo thought as she looked at the water pouring down from the roof of the veranda. Then he turned to the side, finding Farrell standing out from his uniform.

"Wait a minute" he said, "I'll take Flo." Actually, he wanted to tell Farrell to come in and wait inside because, after all, it was raining heavily, but his tongue was twisted, and all he could say were those words.

Farrell nodded, and Flo immediately turned to approach the door. Not forgetting he said a greeting before pressing the doorknob.

Like his unpretentious greeting, the door also did not want to open. So he tried to call his mother again, and there was no reply from inside.

Is his mother sleeping or not at home?

I don't know, he has no picture.

Finally he gave up calling his mother or even pressing the doorknob.

"Nobody?" ask Farrell.

Flo looks at it and says, "I think."

Whether it's bad luck or what, Flo doesn't understand at all, he doesn't find the spare home key—who might be left in the room—and when he calls his mother, he doesn't understand, he confirmed that he had some business outside.

I want to feel guilty, but I am afraid of sin.

Now what should he do? It's got no keys, it's raining heavily, and there's Farrell.

As Flo stared at the rain, he knew Farrell was staring at him. That really makes him nervous. It would be nice if there was a key and the rain soon subsided so Farrell could go home as soon as possible.

The sound of a muffled cell phone ringing. Flo knew it wasn't his cell phone, so it must have been Farrell's.

"Why, Ta?" greet Farrell to the caller, making Flo instantly sharpen the hearing. "Gue again at Flo's house... Want to fetch fish... It depends... Rain deres gini... Yes, I'll tell you later."

The conversation Farrell and someone Flo surmised was Genta raises again the question that had been present in Flo's head but had not been asked. And he was tempted to ask now.

"Ehem," he cleared his throat and gathered courage.

"Rell," call Flo. Slowly. He was even surprised to see Farrell who immediately turned his head to remember the heavy rain that hit the ground.

"Why?" sahut Farrell's. Highly responsive.

"I want it."

"What's? Ask me."

"You know Genta long ago." Flo glanced at Farrell, seeing the man's flat reaction. Though he had difficulty mentioning the name of Genta between the two of them. "And you said Genta used to like me, you did."

"Still," sidelines Farrell.

"mm?" Flo cringing.

"I've never liked you, I still like you."

It's a lie that Farrell's rebuttal has nothing to react to him. Because for a moment, his breathing was restrained, the heart raced outside the rules.

It took Flo a while to get organized, set her mind, before she started speaking again.

"That's why you've shunned me." For a moment he stopped. Suddenly remembering how sad he was when Farrell for no reason stayed away and avoided him, making him wonder what was wrong. "But now you..." He was confused as to what the right word choice was.

"Right again?" Farrell advised.

Flo nodded, agreeing to the use of the word. " Now you are here again, because you said Genta was gone. But it doesn't mean her feelings are gone, does it?" tanyakanya. "Aren't I a geer or what, just if, if Genta still likes me, you're not afraid Genta is hurt because you're close to me? He's your friend."

Farrell smiled faintly. "I think Genta still likes you. But he's learning to forget his feelings for you. And it takes time, it can't be instant. It took him more than a day or two."

Right, thought Flo. He didn't think wrongly that maybe Genta still liked him.

"Why do you keep trying to improve our relationship? Why should I rush? Why don't you wait until Genta forgets?"

"Because if I wait, it might take too long and we might be too far away from each other. Because maybe if you wait, you're with someone else."

Flo looked away from Farrell's shady eyes. He looked back at the rain which began to decrease the intensity of the water discharge. He was running out of words to say.

"Flo, I think you misunderstood the same reason I shunned you."

Flo just shut up. Not looking or making a sound.

"I didn't tell you because Genta likes you, but because of the vow*** I agreed with Genta," Farrell continued. "If there was no promise, I wouldn't keep you even if I knew Genta liked you. Because I'm the same Genta is not a child anymore who will fight for the fight for girls. We are both mature enough to compete healthily. But since I promised, I had to let you go once, Flo. Because promises have to be kept, right?"

Flo nodded small. Then he turned his head and asked, "You guys are rivals, it means there will be hurt, right?"

"Like someone should be ready to hurt, right?" Farrell asked back. "Again, hurt is the right of all mankind. Everyone has the right to pursue the person he likes, everyone has the right to hurt, and there is nothing to be sorry for. It's phase. The sick will also heal. The feelings that once existed will also disappear. It all takes time. Genta is now. So you or I don't have to feel guilty about her. It's not like we betrayed behind her or anything, because you don't have any relationship with her either. Let Genta take care of his own heart problems, don't even feel bad, because if Genta knows you feel bad about him, he can feel insulted."
