Chapter 9: Favorite Songs and Warnings of Kak Farah

"Bosen, huh?"

Flo shakes. Actually he was bored, but not good to be honest. He did not know if patching the tire took a long time.

"You hear me, don't you?" Farrell raised next to his earphones towards Flo.

"Geek..." Flo muttered. Confused whether to accept it or not.

Perhaps because Flo had answered too long, Farrell moved first. He shifted in the long distance, narrowing the distance between himself and Flo. Then he placed the white earphone next to Flo's ear.

Farrell did not know that the impact of his movement made Flo stiff in place. His mind was frozen, his heart was heart-to-know, his stomach was full of butterflies. He even needs time to understand what the singer is saying, as if what he is using is a foreign language, when in fact it is mother tongue. He enjoyed the song after a while. The singer's clear voice, poetic song lyrics, as well as simple melodies, become a slick unity.

"Know the song, don't you?"

Flo shakes.

"The song is not famous. The singer is also an indie underrate singer. Not many know. I also know this song was accidentally on vacation in Jogja, continue to be liked. Favorite one, though," Farrell explained.

"The song is good," Flo chimed in briefly.

Both Farrell and Flo were silent, while the sound of the tools in the workshop was quite noisy, behind the song playing. Both drowned, enjoying a song with the cool night breeze.

"It looks like it's going to rain" Flo said after a while. His eyes were fixed on the black sky, occasionally adorned with lightning striking.

"Yes" said Farrell. He stood up, stepped over to the middle-aged man who fixed his motorcycle tire.

Meanwhile, Flo took off the earphones in her ear. He put it on the side of Farrell's cell phone, which was lying on a bench.

Before long, Farrell's voice greeted the ears, "Come, Flo." He was sitting on the motorbike. "Please give me my HP."

Flo grabs Farrell's phone, takes it to the owner.

"Gue is speeding, let's not be overwhelmed," Farrell asks permission to give Flo a helmet.

"Don't" stop Flo. "danger. Later if there's anything..."

Farrell grin. "Yes already." He looks amused. "But rain is not pa-pa, is it?"

Flo nodded before climbing into the splotch. Be careful not to touch Farrell too much.

"okay."

Their vehicles also took to the streets. Stable driving divides the streets that are quite quiet.

"Fuck!" call Farrell a little loud, overcoming the roar of the wind and the noise of the engine on the left-right. After a silence that felt a millennium long.

"What?"

"Can you please put some candy in my pocket?!" his door half-screamed, overcoming the roar of the wind. "Gue's sleepy."

"Yes," Flo replied softly, hesitatingly. He wasn't even sure if Farrell heard the answer.

Flo's hand trembled as it crept into Farrell's jacket pocket. Once again his heart raced, knocking hard on the rib row.

Got it!

Hurriedly Flo pulled her hand back once it touched the item she was looking for. Blackcurrant flavored gum.

"Where, Flo?!" farrell asked as Flo struggled to open the candy with difficulty, his hands still shaking.

After a long sigh and cleared his throat first, Flo reached forward past under Farrell's arm. At first he thought that the candy in his hand would be immediately taken over by Farrell's hand, in fact it was not. His wrist was instead grabbed, then down and up until the tip of his fingers touched something soft and cold. The candy was pulled off.

"Lo's hands are cold" Farrell commented before letting go of the hand in his grasp.

Flo pulled her hand back. Hiding it in my pocket. Yes, his hands were cold, but he felt his face hot.

When everything starts to subside (heart beat, heat on the cheeks, also shaking), replace the raindrops that begin to fall. Slowly. At first, in a very long interval. But then the distance was tight. So Flo and Farrell began to soar, crashing the rain that continued to grow thick.

"Flo, we'll stop by first, okay?!" exclaim Farrell. "It's raining so hard, it's hard to see the road!"

Flo is worried, dreams are not in his plans. But he knew Farrell was right. The rain is too heavy, it is dangerous to keep going.

"Yes!"

"We stopped by my house, huh?! Close to here!"

Stopped by Farrell's house more unplanned. He thought they would stop by at a nearby building stop or terrace, in fact not. The thing is, he was confused, saying what did Farrell's parents want to say? It's very awkward.

"There's Farah at home, really!"

"Yes!" Flo finally agreed.

***

Farrell didn't lie. The man's house was very close to the location earlier he asked permission to stop by. A white house on the corner.

"Sister!" among the giggles Farrell called. Honey the answer didn't immediately reply. "Sister!"

Farrell's fingertips impatiently knocked on the door. Every now and then he glanced at Flo who was standing stiffly, both hands clenched tightly.

"Flood!" This time there were no more frills of honor in Farrell's appeal. Maybe annoyed.

"Yes a minute." Distant voices of answers rang out, muffled doors and gurgling rain.

"I'm sorry, Flo" said Farrell, turning to Flo, who nodded in admiration. "My brother is Rada Budek. Use earphones to learn Korean. Smart guy, budek yeah."

Flo smiled faintly in response. It rained this hard, it was natural to be suddenly deaf.

Chequek...

Door opens. There was a girl who looked a lot like Farrell, just the female version. Brother Farah—so Flo used to call him when in ballet practice.

"Eh, Flo!" It was obviously a shock on Farah's face. In fact, instead of his sister standing right in front of him, he first greeted Flo. "Kok, you can be like this Monkey." He was leaning on Farrell.

"Budek lo base. Long open the door" Farrell said. "Pity of the child of the cold. You have no conscience."

"Silent bacot lo!" Brother Farah brushed off Farrell's spicy mouth. Then he pulled Flo's hand, led her in. "Come in here, Flo."

Farrell tailed behind. The job of closing the door.

"Your maiden Flo is your shirt" said Farrell.

"Know me!" reply Brother Farah sewot. Keep pulling Flo away, climbing the stairs.

Flo himself looked at the two brothers in astonishment. Not not not getting along like he and Fabian, nor getting along like Arina and her brother—Aqila. Bizarrely. Fighting, but looking affectionate to each other.

"Look out, Flo!" farrell said, making Flo turn. "Farah is good with other people. Just as bad himself. Magical grandmother feels like a fairy godmother if she's dressed up with him."

"Don't listen" said Farah. "He's hurting for his soul."

Flo smiled. Know it's kidding.

Upon arrival in the room, Brother Farah immediately told Flo to change to use a brown channel hoodie. After that both of them sat on the edge of the mattress, with Flo's hands busy drying her hair with a hairdryer.

"Son didn't know you were close to Farrell," Farah began.

"Near by no. Farrell's a friend, a friend of mine," explains Flo. "It was also an accident to go home with Farrell, because my friend had to go home first."

"Oh..." Brother Farah nodded. "Goodoo. Don't be the same Farrell. He doesn't deserve to be like you. You're kind, smart, talented, sweet again."

Flo smiled stiffly. Confused what to respond. Even though he was familiar, he was not too close to Brother Farah. Sometimes they chatted on the training ground, but it was very rare. And they never really made Farrell a topic of conversation. Just a glance, first when he was asked where school.

"What is Farrell? Motoran mulu. Circumference. I've been kayak brother ojek online, mending if you get money."

Flo has no problem with Farrel's motorcycle hobby, all that bothers him is that he doesn't have a SIM yet.

"Both Flo, don't fall for Farrell's appeal. He's mouth-watering like Dilan, fucking behavior. Seriously."

Waw. Flo was amazed by the selection of Kak Farah's diction. Is that how Farrell is? He as a favorite class MIA child did not hear much gossip like other class romance. The kids in her class felt it was kind of unimportant.

"Hobinya ninggalin a girl who has been very baper with him. So be careful."

"No need to be careful, brother. Because Farrell doesn't like me. We're just regular schoolmates."

"Take a guess."

"You don't like it now, you can do it later. It all started with friends. And if it's going to be demen, don't accept him. Unless there's something that can really make you sure. Okay?"

Although unsure if there would be a period where Farrell would like it, Flo nodded.

Who's he trying? She is not popular, beautiful, or fun. If there was Arina next to him, why would Farrell look at her?

"Where are you guys from?" ask Brother Farah.

Flo explained where they were going. The short story is actually, it's just because Farah's sister is talkative, so it feels long with each comment per one sentence Flo. And the funny thing is when he mentioned the name Genta, Kak Farah immediately said, "Sister Genta preferred to be a brother than Farrell. More brother-able him."

The hairdrayer's buzz subsided shortly after the story was finished. He immediately stood up, thanked her and took her wet clothes away. Brother Farah apologizes for not being able to accompany the conversation, he said he was doing a lot of grades and tomorrow there was a test. Naturally, already in the twelfth grade, he understood.

Arriving at the last rung of the stairs, Flo is confused about where to go. Didn't see anyone. Where Farrell is.

"In the kitchen, Flo!" there was a voice that Flo believed belonged to Farrel.

Flo takes a step to the right, following the source of the sound. Ends in a sparkling clean white kitchen. Found Farrell standing behind the kitchen counter, sipping a drink from a cup of soup. Even so, the man looked stylish.

"Sit down" said Farrell, shifting a glass of chocolate-smelling drink.

Flo cleared his throat before pulling the chair across from Farrell. Duck. Sip a little of his drink.

"I waited a long time ago. Back and forth on the stairs. Until the neck pain." Farrell touched his nape. "So sure Farah's making fun of me, huh?"

"No, really!" reply Flo fast.

Farrell smiled. "No more pa-pa. Was ordinary. Every friend who plays here must be very excited to ridicule me. Genta is so happy with him."

"I wanted hair for a long time." Flo looked at Farrell carefully. He realized that his hair was still unraveling, reminding him of a dialogue about his hair. Makes the noise even more so.

"visibility. Nice."

For the second time Flo cleared his throat. The tip of her index nail and thumb clashed together under the counter. "So..."

"What?" Farrell grinned, displaying one dimple. Looking down at him deeply.

"Where are your parents going?"

"work. They rarely go home. Mr. marine..."

Ah, Flo thought, it explained the photo of the fierce-looking man in the uniform that she had seen in the living room earlier.

"Mother doctor. The hospital's a long way from here, so he can't come back here every day."

"So you're just the same as Farah?"

"Sama there is also a Mbak. He just went home to the village. Got business. Genta also yesterday nginap."

"Genta comes here often?"

"Often. We have been friends since SD. So very familiar. He was even a family member. At least, Brother Farah wishes Genta would be his sister."

"Arina too?"

Farrell's thick but neat eyebrows shot up.

"Arina comes here often?"

"M..." Farrell scratched the corner of his jaw, his eyes glancing to the left. Keep in mind. "Not often, only ever. It's my birthday."

"Oh..." Flo.

"A lot, really," Farrell added quickly. "Just like classmates."

Confused as to what to respond, Flo simply nodded. He did not even feel worthy of that explanation.

"You going home now? I think the rain is starting to stop. Afraid overnight. You'll get scolded later."

Flo just nodded.

"Yes, wait in front first. I borrowed the car with Farah."

"Are you allowed to bring a car?"

"It's okay, but it's an emergency."

Flo standing. "I took a taxi" he broke up.

"OK," Farrell agreed, after a moment of seeming indecision. "Gue messain."

"I said goodbye to Farah first, huh?"

"Gue wait in front."

Darling Flo can't do her intentions. It turned out that Farah was already asleep in the study desk chair. Look tired. Flo's not good at making it. Until he came back down, found Farrell outside.

"Still long?" tanya Flo, standing by Farrell's side who was already wearing a jacket.

"A little while."

Sure enough, soon the taxi that was ordered came. Farrell opens the door, letting Flo in before entering.

"Don't be smart, I can go home by myself."

"Know. But I want to send. Genta nitipin was the same as me. Move, Sir!" added to the driver.

The cold air, fatigue, and the increasingly late time made Flo fall asleep during the trip. When he woke up, they had already arrived in front of his house.

Gluing Flo eliminates drowsiness. Just realized there was a brown jacket covering her legs.

"Udah came," said Farrell.

Flo gave Farrell's jacket to the owner, not forgetting to mutter thanks. Then the man followed her down from the car. Really drive to the front door.

"Lo won't get angry, will he?" ask Farrell slowly.

"My parents are not home anymore. There's a corporate dinner."

"Oh... Thank goodness I wasn't angry." Farrell seemed very relieved. "Yes, he went in there. Rest."

"You're home too."

Farrell nodded. "Gue's home. I'll see you tomorrow at school."

"Yes. Careful."

Smiling Farrell responded to Flo's remark. Then he turned away. Before long, it disappeared covered in a flower bush.

Flo also went into the house. Not forgetting to lock the door.

"Well, the good girl just got home."

Flock heard that sentence. As soon as it turned around, he found Fabian lying casually on the sofa. His face was decorated with a satisfied grin.

"Sister Fabian.." muttered Flo.

Why is Fabian here? He should be in Malang.
