Kendra stands leaning against the pillars supporting the magnificent buildings of the International airport. He looked at the empty plane going up and down alternately from behind a large glass that limited the waiting room and runway of the plane.
Two months after Papa asked him to come home, he steadied his heart to return home. Ah, actually he came home not because of his Papa's request, but he just followed his heart. His heart told him to come back.
Ever since hearing the name Maura being mentioned by her Papa, her heart kept throbbing fast and finally managed to pull her body to cross the oceans and continents only to see Maura's face directly. And this is where he and his mother waited for the scheduled departure of the plane that would take him to Indonesia.
"When are you coming back?" A hand was wrapped around his stomach. With Indonesian broken, Victoria hugged Kendra and pressed her cheek against the young man's wide back.
"Vi, I told you repeatedly, stop like this." Kendra parsed Victoria's hand that was wrapped around her stomach.
"Why?" Although he did not like Kendra's rejection, the brown-haired girl said.
"There's my Mama, I don't want my Mama to think a no-no with us." Kendra glanced at the cafe, her mother still engrossed in a warm cup of tea in front of her.
"Your mother asked me, do I love you? you already know the answer." Rejected for a hug, Victoria turned to embrace the arm and spread her head over Kendra's shoulder.
This time Kendra did not refuse, not because it was comfortable but because her mother was looking at her. He simply turned his head towards the large glass connected to the waiting room, then it was as if he saw a clock coiled around his wrist so Victoria could no longer rest her head on his shoulder.
"Go home, I'll be on the plane soon."
"You haven't answered my question, when are you back?" Victoria has a sad face.
"My apartment is empty, from there you must already know the answer."
"No, you have to go back." Victoria shook her head hard.
"Yes, now that I'm going back home, that's where my house is."
"Is it because of him?" Victoria glanced at the picture on Kendra's phone screen. It has been a month that Maura's face decorated the phone screen on the front. Victoria didn't see, but couldn't ask. But this time he had to ascertain who the girl was, why it was only now present for three years that he knew Kendra.
Kendra followed Victoria's line of sight, her faint smile rising. It inflicted a wound on Victoria's heart. A sincere smile that Kendra never showed for him, although all this time the man's body was always there when he needed it.
"Maybe" said Kendra honestly. He himself could not guess the contents of his heart and mind. He only follows his conscience and conscience.
"Papa wants you to hold the restaurant, don't you rethink your decision?"
"Tell my apologies to your father, I can't fulfill his request because I might not come back here. Even if I go back or stay here, I still won't be able to accept the offer, because I want to set up a restaurant with my own hands for no other reason."
"Ken." Victoria sobbed, she began to feel desperate to persuade Kendra.
"Take care, sori I've got to get on the plane." No hugs let alone kisses, Kendra pats Victoria's arm slowly and goes to pick up her Mama at the cafe.
"He's okay you just stay?" whispered Mama while fixing her luggage.
"He's a real person here, Ma, why worry?" kendra said casually.
"Mama don't have heart" said Mama. The tail of his eyes glanced at Victoria who stood pecking with tears.
Two hours had already they floated above the sky. Kendra has also repeatedly opened her phone screen, but only on the front page. Maura's photo that her Papa sent, she made her phone wallpaper. It was just a picture of Maura that he had, the rest he had removed when he decided to go abroad first.
"Beautiful" said Mama.
"Yes" said Kendra, smiling. A second later, he realized that his mother who he thought was asleep was peering at what he was looking at, "What the hell, Mama," Kendra grumbled. He turned off his phone and put it in his pocket.
"Because of him you are willing to give up everything and choose to return to Indonesia?"
"Ga too" said Kendra indifferently. His eyes closed tightly pretending to be asleep.
"Forgot that you've been living alone with Mama? A minute of change about you, Mama knows," said Mama, closing her eyes with a mocking smile.
Twelve more hours above the sky, only Maura's face loomed over. His heart was pounding as his plane entered the skies of Indonesia. A thousand questions popped into his mind, how was Maura, was she still with Harvey? or maybe they're married and have kids?"
'Shelf!' Emotions were suddenly stirred up, Kendra accidentally hit the plane bench divider.
"Hey, what's wrong with you?" mama was surprised.
"Ga nothing just forget something ... there are items borrowed friends forget to take," said Kendra reasoned.
He turned his face towards the glass hoping that the view of the clouds out there would calm his heart. Why did he not think about it at all before deciding to return to Indonesia? How can he keep his sanity seeing the happiness of Maura and Harvey? There was no way he could forever avoid those two people.
'Shit!'
His feelings were not as enthusiastic as when he left earlier. The plane had landed perfectly, Kendra's face was getting grim and tangled. He was no longer excited to breathe the air of his homeland.
In contrast to his mother, the woman looks sumringah since her feet stepped on the land of Indonesia after so many years. Moreover, her lover was seen waiting for her arrival with a big smile.
"Ma, he's still somebody's husband. Remember that" Kendra whispered. He knew that words were cruel and could hurt his mother, but that was a reality that his mother had to accept.
"Mama knows. Mama just saw him as your father, nothing more" Mama said. His big smile had disappeared.
'I'm sorry, Ma, ' Kendra's inner regret. All because of his chaotic mind and heart, his mother fell victim to his sharp words.
"How are you? flight smoothly?" ask Mr. Bram. His hands hang in the air. His intention was to hug Kendra, because her son put both hands into his pants pocket.
"Okay, the flight was good" replied Mama.
"Well, we'll eat before I take you to your new home."
"The new place? Why my old house?" ask Mama wonder.
"There is, but it is less worthy of habitation because it has long been left behind. Kendra's got to work anyway, so I'll find her close to the office."
Kendra's steps stopped and turned around, "Work at the office?"
