"Is there any reason we should take a break from noon till camping here? Wouldn't it be better to continue the journey?" Retia asked Chord beside her.
Chord is a red-haired girl with blue eyes. Every time Retia looked at her, Retia became reminded of an animation of a medieval story in Europe.
"It could have been, but some winged horses might have died. Well, this all happened thanks to the strengthening magic that the landlord instilled into those horses. The horses get excited, they don't get tired easily, and their speed increases dramatically, but on the other hand, their mentality will be disturbed, which is why we need rest, after all we've been more than half the way. What an incredible strengthening magic, the journey that should have been taken for three days was easily trimmed." Chord explained, his hand was still busy noting some things that Retia herself did not understand what he meant.
Thinking that he was disturbing, Retia went around enjoying the fresh air without pollution, it was amazing. Khan apparently ordered some people to collect firewood, some others took good care of the rare horses. On the other hand, Marthin did a practice session together with some men who were free.
When she saw Hans leaning back in a tree, Retia came to her.
"How hurt? Already better?" ask Retia. Retia had asked Chord to check Hans' hand in hopes that there would be a potion that could speed up the healing of her wound.
"It doesn't hurt anymore, thanks to Miss Chordne, she gave me a few bottles of potion" Khan replied as he shook the bottle of potion filled with a thick green liquid that looked disgusting.
"Good." Retia was happy, Hans smiled.
To be honest Hans felt very worried about Retia. After all, the fact that Retia was a descendant of the Goddess of Eating was not enough to make her safe in this world. If that identity was revealed then there would be many people trying to utilize the abilities and knowledge of the God realm. Hans really did not want the tragedies of the past to repeat themselves.
"Miss Retia, aren't you trying to learn the art of martial arts to protect yourself?" ask Hans.
"Why?" Retia asked back. Retia felt it would only bother her.
"Kansas is a dangerous eastern end region, I think you have to learn some martial arts, especially to utilize the Divine Weapons you have," Hans explained, for some reason, Hans could not tell Retia the real reason.
"I don't want that, you think I don't know? Everyone who was transferred to another world, if he started to strengthen himself, terrible things would keep coming. Khan's enough to make it hard for me to sleep, okay?" Retia.
"I don't think I need it."
"Don't need it?"
"Yes, didn't you come to Kansas because you were worried about me and wanted to be my protector?" Retia is a little flirting. It was forgotten that Hans had seen all parts of his body.
"Ah.. You're right, I'll protect you."
Retia and Hans started laughing after looking at each other. They both realized what they had just said was very strange.
"What makes you laugh so good?" khan asked who suddenly appeared. To mean that all the camping preparations have been completed and the next one waiting is the dinner preparation.
"Oh, are you now aware, how funny is a person with only eight fingers?" khan continued, again mocking Hans. This Landlord seemed to be hooked on making fun of others.
"Ah, fuck." The annoyed Hans involuntarily released his fist towards Khan, but it could still be avoided perfectly by him.
"Hey, you stupid cunt. If I do, I could die. There could be bad people in this group. I must have been cursed for making 'someone'''s finger monster bait."
"The bad guys in this place aren't you, are they?" inner Retia.
"Curtain!"
"Hey, Hans. Where are you going?" ask Retia.
"I have to train to get stronger, please don't bother me" he said.
"Based on a madman, how much would he want to get stronger? Does he want to destroy the world with that fist?" Khan grumbled and Retia could only laugh falsely in response.
"Haha."
...•••...
A strangely terrifying fish suddenly floated out of the river. The fish has crocodile-like skin with four short webbed feet on its left and right sides. His teeth, which looked like piranha fish stuck in Hans' left thigh, slightly upward, and Hans would lose his future.
"Uah!!" Hans shouted, Khan laughed out loud.
"Wahahaha, it could be attacked by flying fish, haha—
The dark shadow that covered the sunlight brought Khan's insults to a halt. In the sky, dozens of flying fish looked ferocious and bloodthirsty storming.
"Oh, shit!" Khan drew out his sword which was still stored in the sheath, while Hans threw the fish back into the river, without giving it any wounds.
"Miss Retia, run!!" Hans yelling.
Retia had no idea why everyone was panicking and running. The fish just jumped from the river to land, but returned to the water after falling. Hans looked very troubled, even he did not give any resistance at all. The one who easily killed the big bear, looked so miserable against a bunch of fish the size of a newborn.
Retia stopped running, swinging her hand that was grasping the frying pan and was intending to hit the flying fish, but Hans instantly prevented it by putting on a body. Not only was the fish's tooth tearing off his left hand, his back was also made sore by Retia.
"I said run, right!" he said growling loudly. Hans held Retia in his arms and ran to the back of a large tree, it was quite far from the riverbank.
"What's? Why isn't that just a fish?" Retia finally asked. Hans still glanced back, there was no one else there other than Khan. Everyone has fled into the forest with Marthin.
"The name is Gulia, but we know it better: the flying fish of the human killer. Its scales are of steel, there are sails on each of its fins. Gulia fish should not suffer damage resulting in injury, otherwise the fish will feel threatened and detonate the poison in his body. One fish does not matter, but if it's a horde, its venom will form into a pandemic. One for all, one threatened, all blown up." Hans explained.
"Wait? Then how do you handle it?" Retia asked back.
"There is only one now."
"What's that?"
"Socean Magic."
"Ocean Witch? The khan? However, why was he just standing there throwing his fish back into the river?"
"That's probably because he ran out of magic power. Generally reinforcement magic could only be used on one entity at a time, but Khan did that on many horses at a time, and it ran for up to half a day. He shouldn't have magic anymore."
