On March 25, 2015, I left my parents and my country, went to my neighbor's country to earn a living and to move on. Yes, that is my main reason to go to Penang Malaysia. I started my new life and met new people.
I always hoped that God would protect me and my family wherever we were. Although this is the beginning of the separation, and must live a long period of time to be able to meet again, hopefully Do’a never interrupted.
During my time off work, my friend Lira and I intended to go to the Bukit Jambul (Mall) Complex adjacent to where I live, while we were both waiting for the bus, there were 3 people who came and were also waiting for the bus with us, at first I thought they were local (Malaysian) because one of them was wearing a big green headscarf and wearing a black veil. As we boarded the bus, the three of them sat opposite me and Lira.
I heard them talking in Indonesian, and I found out that I had mistaken them for locals.
Sometimes I look into the eyes of a person who wears a veil, I really want to know him. But I'm ashamed to say hello.
Actually I have a lot of questions that arise in my mind, what is he here to work? Is it not permissible for factory workers (factories) to wear a veil? He ate his drink how did he? Not difficult, huh? About the veiled woman is difficult to recognize is not it? All that is visible is his eyes.
After we got to the Bukit Jambul Complex, I and Lira went around. When Lira bought the cake, I glanced into a boutique. In the boutique there are a lot of black-colored gamis, and I also see a lot of collections of veils and niqabs in it.
“Lira, Sister get into the Glory Boutique it yes.” I said to Lira while pointing towards the boutique.
Lira also nodded. As I walked into the boutique, a female guard came up to me and said hello.
“Assalamu’alaikum. Want to find ape, Dik?” tanyakanya.
“Wa’alaikumussalam. I want to see the niqab, Kak.” I replied shyly.
“Owh, can. What kind of kid, brother? near here I'll sell three types of je. This one is half niqab, wear rubber rope (rubber rope). This is the niqab that only sees the eyes. The last of these niqab two layer, this one is best seller Dik, because the back layer is labuh to below the waist.”
After hearing the lengthy explanation from Big Brother who was guarding the boutique, I began to look around and pick out his niqab.
“What's the price, Brother?” I asked while showing the two-layer niqab.
“This one's price is RM65, Dik.” The answer.
“Ok, Brother. I take this one.” I said with a smile to the shopkeeper brother who was wearing the niqab.
“Kick niqab ye?” Ask while wrapping the niqab I want to buy.
“Not know anymore, Brother. But I want to buy. Hehe.” Answer me while I cry.
“Owh, don't buy first, later if you want to use it there is stock.” Her speech.
“Iya, Brother.” Answer's short.
“Which sister lives near where, Dik?” Ask.
“I live in Red Flower Park, river two kak.” My answer.
“Adik knows not with Fitri? She is Indonesian, wears a niqab, lives near a red flower garden as well. Now that he's here, then he bought niqab ngan akak earlier.” Her speech.
Suddenly I remembered the letter that was on the bus with me.
“Hah? Seriously brother? But I don't know it, brother. She was wearing a green hood, right?” Askaqua.
“Iya, wear green hood.” The answer.
“No phone number for him?” ask me with great enthusiasm. Maybe this is God's path.
“There, Adik record la number whatsapp him, later if there is anything Sister can chat him.” The brother took his phone and gave me Fitri's phone number.
“Thank you, Brother.” Sumringah.
“Iya dik, equally.” replied.
“Assalamu’alaikum Fitri, I'm Naura. Greetings Ukhuwah.” My writing.
“Wa’alaikumusssalam. Greetings Ukhuwah too, Naura who is it?” ask Fitri.
“Fitri was on the bus wearing a veil and green hijab huh?” I asked him back.
“Yes, you were on the bus? Both are friends?” He could guess who I was.
“Iya, Fit.” I replied while tucking in a laugh emoji.
After I had gone stale with him, I started to the point and started asking him about the niqab.
“Fit, I want to ask you about niqab can not?” My toot.
“Iya may, just ask. you want to wear niqab yes?” He's guessing.
“In shay Allah will wear. In the factory Fitri can wear niqab?” My reply.
“Actually not allowed, so if in the factory we do not use the niqab, we are like ordinary people, but if Fitri in the factory usually use facemask, Ra. Go to work also use facemask only, but if for example going home from work to stop everywhere Naura just prepare niqabnya bring from home, later can be used when on the bus. If we go anywhere from home we wear the niqab. Only if we want to go to the factory we close our faces using facemask.” Fitri explained at length.
“Owh, so. Thanks to Fitri for the explanation.” My reply.
After getting an explanation from Fitri, I had a dilemma for a few days. Maybe I did it? For a moment, for a moment, open it, as if I was playing with this face-covering cloth, even though it was sunah. Until I finally remembered one qaidah fiqih.?“If it can do half of it, then do not leave completely.”
That sentence touched my heart and revived my hijrah spirit. Finally I am ready, ready to be a half-veil woman while in this neighboring country, and I intend in my heart, “In shaa Allah I will wear it full time when I have returned to Indonesia later.” I am not as beautiful as a princess and not as beautiful as an angel, but I am still a woman with the greatest slander for men.
A week after I chatted with Fitri, I met her in person. Fitri told about her experience when she first wore the niqab.
“Ra, Abah Fitri once said the same Fitri like this. ‘If you dare not be afraid, if you are afraid do not dare to be brave.’ That is, if you have the courage to make a decision, do not be afraid to face the risk. But if you are afraid to face the risk, do not dare to make a decision. So, now Naura has made the decision to wear a veil, so whatever the obstacles later Naura must dare to face it. But if naura is afraid to face risks in the future, it is better not to use now.” Fitri conveyed her brother's advice to me gently.
“So yes. Thanks for the advice. In the Lord I am ready to face any risk. I am confident and believe, in shaa Allah, Allah will facilitate good intentions.” My answer.
“Aamiin yes mujibas sailiin. Oya, you know that women who wear a veil are not allowed to enter the Bank?” Ask Fitri.
“No know.” My answer.
“Fitri heard he said that wearing a veil should not go into Bank.” Her speech.
“Ma is Allah, to the whole?” I asked while looking into his eyes.
“Iya, Ra. But Fitri has never tried to enter the Bank, so Fitri does not know whether or not it is true.” he said.
Then we went to lunch. It was the first time I would eat a meal while using the niqab.
“Ra, do you know how to eat?” Ask Fitri slowly.
“Numbered, Fit. Hahaha” I replied with a small laugh.
“Ya already, here Fitri ajarin.” Her speech.
I sat next to him too.
“If you want to eat, our left hand holds the veil, then open a little. Then enter the rice slowly, can be from the side can also from the bottom, follow you just how good.” Fitri explained while practicing.
I then tried as described by Fitri, because this is the first time I eat when wearing a veil, I have not been clever and have not been used to finally dirty my veil exposed to gulai and sambal.
