It's Not Sleep That Makes Me Dream, But You

It's Not Sleep That Makes Me Dream, But You
Chapter 01: Rain & Restaurant

Out of the rain, and I was sitting in a pretty fancy restaurant on the side of vegetable highway number 081525. I don't know why it suddenly rained today, but I didn't bring an umbrella or raincoat. You see, I left last night the sky was bright black star-studded, as if supporting me to come to this restaurant. But after I got here about half an hour ago, it was raining. Yes, I do not have the same problem, clean, but later what if the rain is still falling like this?

I rarely come to this restaurant, even I just forgot what the name of this place is, but just entered and sat in a chair that was in the window decking position for about half an hour. I think the owner of the restaurant is not good at giving the name, so it is easily overlooked by visitors who forget my kayak.

The reason I rarely come here is not because the place is far from home, still equally in the area of the city of Pepper, really. It takes about fifteen minutes walk from home to get here, so you could say decket.

The reason I rarely come here is because the price of food is beyond reason, expensive. My existence here now aims to fulfill my promise to a classmate who said he would practice me. As a 2nd grade High School student who was born to a mediocre family and often suffers from late-stage dry bags, this moment is quite rare. For me, eating here is like a holiday to Bali, continue surfing with Cinta Laura who again wear a bikini, both rare moments.

“Think of what pesen, mas?”

Suddenly aja maids who wear black and white clothes typical restaurant waiter fancy dateng approached. I was half-dreaming while eating the rain that soaked the asphalt of the road while fantasizing again surfing with Love Laura was immediately dragged into reality.

“Hemm..., what is mbak?”

The waiter had a flat face. “Kan mas who want to pesen, why even my name?” He said with a little emotion.

I looked at the menu paper that had been on the table since I came here. By the way the waiter who is currently standing in front of me has twice asked me about what I will order, and I always say later. And this is the third time, it is not good if I do not spit mesen and answer with the same answer.

Looking at the writing and pictures of various food and drink menus at expensive prices, I became nervous. Several times I flipped through the paper from the restaurant menu book that is not so good, trying to find a drink or food that fits in the bag.

After about thirty seconds, I finally steadily turned my gaze from the menu book towards the waiter's face, continuing to say, “Black coffee only, deh, mbak.”

“Udah is it?” Ask.

“Iya, mbak..” I'm a little awkward. “That's aja.”

The sound of heavy rain outside, was faintly heard from where we were.

The maidservant immediately put on a taut facial expression while noting my order on the small paper he was carrying. Facial expression and movement of his hands when taking notes as if describing the contents of his heart that said “Eat in an elite place, when the economy is difficult.” Then he left after telling me to wait for the order.

It did not take long, black coffee my order finally came. I stared at the cup of black coffee that was still sticking out the thin smoke carefully. “How doang twenty thousand?” I said, not expecting. In fact, if in an ordinary warkop, for coffee with the same cup size costs only three thousand aja, here can be almost four times as much.

“Pahit.” complains of me after sipping coffee.

keep in mind that the temen I'm waiting for this may not be so come because of the test deres. But a few minutes later as I was enjoying my coffee while writhing the rain outside the window, the person I was waiting for finally arrived. He seemed confused among the dozens of seats in the restaurant, and I just watched as I held the cup of black coffee that was getting a little cold.

Wearing a thick pink cute jacket, the girl continued to squirm in all directions of the restaurant room with a confused face, definitely again nyariin me. From far away I noticed he was diem-diem, deliberately did not want to live first, just look at him confused.

Moments later, he pulled out his phone from the pocket of levis pants that seemed wet in some parts, then tried to call someone and I'm sure the person he called was me. Smiling as he looked at her, this heart felt quite satisfied.

“Riyan!” He said with a smile and waved like a person who could not stand the guts test in a haunted place.

I tried to return her greeting with a smile as sweet as possible. Our eyes met shortly after he called her name, and she rushed to me, who was sitting by the window of the restaurant.

“Sorry, yes, I'm late. You see, I was on my way, suddenly it rained, finally told the driver to stop first in the store to buy an umbrella.” My friend apologized sincerely, he was a little messy.

“Iya, nothing.” I scratched my head while smiling, awkwardly. “Gue kira lo not so dateng because ujan.”

We sit facing each other. After sitting comfortably, I immediately called the waiter, then opened the menu book at the table and read it carefully. While he was busy looking at the written menu list, I stared at him with a smile. Her face was naturally beautiful, her long hair was slightly wet from the rain, she occasionally smiled as she pointed at the pictures of food and drink she ordered.

“Lo want pesen what, yan?” he said suddenly. “According to the agreement, this mallm lo I treat.” Further.

“As far as you want to mesenin me what, I just follow deh.” I smiled to cover up the awkwardness.

He mesen foods that I rarely eat, such as, spaghetti, steak, pizza, honey-baked ribs, pastel caps, brownies, fish and chips, and vanilla ice cream. I was just dumbfounded when he spoke fluently mentioning the various menus that were ordered, as if he was used to eating in a kayak gini place.

“Lo don't want another drinking machine?” He was glancing at the coffee cup I was holding. “We will eat ribs, you know!” He said, as if to warn.

“Es oranges are also nothing.” I feel very sad.

The person who is currently sitting in front of me is Nadia, my classmate. We do not know each other very well, at first, but some days we become quite tight because often one group of English lessons. The reason he practiced me eating at this restaurant is also not so clear, this afternoon after school suddenly he nawarin a treaty. As I asked in what order, he said, “We have already designed the difficult Grammar material task, tuh, and lo play an important role in the group, I think you should I teraktir.”

Yes, anyway, I am the most prominent and most active member among the other members when doing English assignments, he really. And the value of our group is satisfactory, almost perfect. But in my opinion, it is not a thing that should be celebrated excessively until the treatise of all. Anyway, if you want to do a treat event like this at least ngajak other members as well, not just me. So suspect me, lest he have any other intentions.

Vanilla ice cream Nadia's order came. While waiting for the arrival of another order, we talked to each other about anything.

“Lo often come here, not?” Nadia asked after eating her spoonful of ice cream.

I shook my head, “Cuman once.” If I'm not wrong, fitting SD reunion event a year ago. At that time there was a master who wanted to save our food. The rumor is, anyway, only the birth of the first child, so all thanks.

“So, no mistake, yes, if I practice lo here, hehe..” Nadia smiled and continued to eat her vanilla ice cream again.

“Ya, you could say so.”

I sipped coffee, then squirmed towards the ice cream that Nadia was enjoying. After a few seconds of looking at the ice cream, I then squirm out the window, and it still rained outside. Surprised by this girl, the weather is cold like this and eat ice cream cheerfully. Hopefully when he comes home later his body does not care.

The Christmas song Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas is heard not so loud throughout the restaurant room, mixed with the sound of visitors who are eating while chatting. Although I do not celebrate Christmas, but at least the song makes me want if it is already December and soon Christmas. I swear, I almost forgot what month it is, rarely check the calendar.

“By the way, I salute you, yan. Very good at English lessons, what is the secret, anyway?” Nadia unexpectedly praised me. “Padahal lo, right, rarely learn.” Further.

I just fell silent. Seneng-seneng aja, anyway, if in praise it, but the last sentence Nadia quite prickly. “Gue, anyway, don't feel good, yeah. Just lucky, aja.”

“Gue already know you will say that.” Nadia smiled, then asked. “What hobby, yan?”

“What yes?” My eyes wiggled to the ceiling when asked that. Honestly, I don't have anything I really like specifically. “Watch a movie, maybe.” I replied, because that's what I often do after school.

“Film west?”

I nodded. I often watch western movies, especially MCU films (Marvel Cinematic Universe)

Nadia stared flatly. “Pantesan jago.”

“Watch English films that do not necessarily make people become good at English lessons as well.” When sipping coffee, that's when I realized that my coffee was getting cold.

“Ngaruh know,” Nadia tried to defend her argument by adding, “because you often watch western movies, you so often hear people talking English, and it can make you a good English too.”

Makes sense. I started to consider Nadia's opinion. Perhaps one example is, if the baby was born in a country where people speak English in everyday conversation, then the baby will automatically be able to speak English fluently as he grows even though he does not get English lessons specifically. Because the language that often entered his ears since the baby.

“Oh, so, yeah.” I nodded, approving.”

We chat with the same topic for a few minutes until finally the food that Nadia ordered arrived one by one. We talked while enjoying the food.

“Aduh-duh,” My finger overheated when deliberately holding a hot pan.

Nadia spontaneously laughed seeing me overheating. While I put my fingers slightly blistered. Seeing my innocence, Nadia then taught me how to eat steak properly. Until finally we can eat with wisdom while continuing to chat.

Nadia changed the topic so it was about pets. He told me he had a cute Chihuahua. He said, his pet dog likes to defecate carelessly even though it has often been trained to defecate in its place, and the worst place to defecate the savage dog was on the face of his father Nadia while he was sleeping. “Could be a poop dog in front of my bokap fit again napping on the living room sofa.” Evidently.

I'm just diem. He usually talks about it when we're enjoying a meal. My brain, right, so the shape of the shit fit again eating brownies.

Time passed, and Nadia and I talked about it. All the food on the table I tried one by one, my stomach was quite full. Because we run out of chat material, we are busy with each other. I was busy squirming out the window while half daydreaming, while Nadia was busy with her phone. Sometimes he selfies in a cute style, sometimes also advancing his lips like a duck.

“Riyan?”

I looked up when I called Nadia.

“We selfie together, yuk!” Nadia gets ready with her phone.

But I nodded, refusing. “No, ah, I don't like selfies .”

Nadia puffed her cheeks, like a little disappointed. “Not really cool lo.”

I don't know why I'm so comfortable taking pictures of my own face and uploading them to social media. I am the kind of person who feels good when I read and consider myself ugly when taking a selfie.

After taking a few pictures of her own face, Nadia was immediately busy with her phone again. I'm sure, he's uploaded here and there, and I'm just observing in silence.

“Oh, yes..” Nadia looked panicked, she was talking to herself. I think he forgot a certain thing.

“What?” I said dalem heart.

“Gue forgot live Instagram.” Further. “No papa, deh.” He said again, still talking to himself.

“Narsis.” I said again, heart.

I am waiting for a call home from Nadia who is still busy in cyberspace. Want to talk again but confused about what to talk about. Want to play HP, but got me left at home. I have been bored squirming the rain outside the window that did not subside, until there was a puddle of water in some parts of the road.

Classic western songs still sound melodious in the restaurant that has begun to be rather quiet. I looked around, people started paying bills and getting out of restaurants. Some people are busy eating while talking. I don't know what time it is because I don't bring HP, want nanya Nadia but afraid to bother. My eyes continued to observe the surroundings while waiting for Nadia to return to the real world.

When busy looking at other visitors, I found a girl figure that I know, even very familiar. A few feet away from my seat, the girl managed to steal my attention completely. She's my ex-boyfriend, her name is Olivia, and right now she's the same as her new boyfriend.

I don't know why my heart is still so heavy squirming the ex again with other people, still jealous. Olivia laughed again as I watched closely, a sign that she was happy with her new boyfriend. But my heart is still heavy, still unwilling. I haven't been able to move on.

If it says that Nyesel already came here, anyway, no, yes. But I don't feel like I should be here, squirming my ex laughs happily with the others. As if celebrating victory over him who first moved on than me. Maybe Olivia has no such thoughts at all, but somehow I feel that way.

“Riyan, Riyann!!”

I was half-dreaming because I was jealous to squirm the ex again with his girlfriend, immediately confused when turning my face to Nadia.

“Iya... why?” I'm confused.

Nadia squirms back, watches people for a few seconds, then squirms towards me again.

“Ngeliatin what, anyway?” Ask.

“That, mmm.. there are people who look like my sodara, but after I noticed it was not.” I lied with a smile.

“Oh, gitu.” Nadia smiled sweetly.

I'm sure, when Nadia squirms back for a few seconds to find out what I was daydreaming about, she squirms Olivia, but don't know if it's my ex because we're different schools.

“Udah malem, here, we go home, yuk!” Take Nadia.

I nodded, then squirmed out the window for a while, the rain had started to subside a little.

The cold night air in the rain was felt until it was repeated when Nadia and I just came out of the restaurant. Beside me there is a small black board that has the writing “Restaurant Pepper Hitam.” The letters are white, written using continuous upright letters that look classic.  I just wanted the name of this restaurant again when I read the writing.

Nadia walked up to the security guard near us, and spoke to him. The security guard then took the black umbrella in his post. The umbrella was handed over to Nadia after they talked to each other a little. Nadia walked towards me while carrying the umbrella of items that were still covered.

After opening her umbrella Nadia said, “Yuk, I anter lo go home first. Home lo deket from here, right?”

I diem a while, before nanya, “Nothing, nih?”

Nadia nodded. “Sopir I'm waiting in the car, maybe now sleeping in the dalem, so no problem for him to wait for me a little longer.” Nadia smiling.

I noticed Nadia's car parked in front of the restaurant. I know which car he's in because he leaves school always in the anter with that car.

“OK deh.”

Nadia finally walked together under the same umbrella. We exchanged glances for a while before finally stepping to leave the Black Pepper Restaurant and walking hand in hand in the rain.

During the trip, Nadia and I did not talk much. Just a few words, anyway. What is my Instagram, but I do not have an Istagram account, it makes him a bit disappointed, look out of his face.

The rush of rain makes the highway feel lonely, the city of Pepper like a dead city. The shops on the side of the road are mostly closed. There were very few vehicles passing by as we both walked on the sidewalk. Silent.

Suddenly, as we walked past the zebra cross, Nadia stopped her steps. I could not predict Nadia's will, forward two steps in front of her, so that my body was wet with rain because the umbrella was Nadia.

I immediately rested under the umbrella. “Why suddenly stop?” I asked.

Notya answer or continue the road, Nadia instead diem on the spot while bowing her head and not talking at all.

“Lo why?” I am confused, our bodies are clinging to each other.

Just a few seconds, Nadia then looked me in the eye and said, “Riyan, I like you, I fell in love with you.”.

The rain became more intense a while after Nadia expressed her feelings to me. My brain was cringing, I was standing right in front of Nadia, one breast at the same time she was in the rain at night.

Because I just diem mute, Nadia chose to continue to say, “I should want to reveal my feelings when we were in the restaurant earlier, but I do not have the courage.” Nadia fell silent, then once again she said. “Gue love lo.”

I felt the rain, maybe Nadia was the same. When observed, his body was a bit shivering. As for what Nadia told me, I honestly don't know what to respond to.

Because I still love my ex, and ngarep can be reversed.
