Love Among Family Hostility

Love Among Family Hostility
Something on Rooftop

As usual, at night in the house of Aksanta, in an ivory-white painted room, a man put his body to sleep with his head resting with one of his hands. His eyes stared at the ceiling of the room letting thoughts creep everywhere.

Vishnu glanced towards the wall clock on the left of the room. The man flinched, jumped out of bed. Vishnu forgot, the man forgot that he should not be in the room. What if they had come and Vishnu did not open the door, there could have been a commotion in this house.

Vishnu pulled the doorknob out of the room with a slight hasty step. The man headed to the living room opposite their family dining room. A large white door next to it there are several cream-colored sofas as an addition to the beauty of the house. And there was Rama who was reading a magazine, sitting on the couch.

The sound of the bell rang out, and Rama turned his head towards the main door because of that. The 50-year-old man looked at Vishnu who was walking a bit in a hurry.

"Who?" rama asked, stopping Vishnu's steps for a moment. "I'm a friend, Pa," he replied.

"Arfin?" ask Rama again. Vishnu nodded, "Yes, open the door." Vishnu was a little relieved because this time Rama was not angry. Usually the man will be angry if Vishnu invites his friends to their home.

"Hello," said Arfin, a little noisy when he managed to enter the residence of Aksanta. Arfin approached Rama as soon as he saw Rama sitting on the sofa. "Hi, Om," said Arfin greeting Rama when the man had stood up from his seat.

"Well, what's rame? He said it was just Arfin." This sentence of Rama slightly made Baim and Gilang stunned.

Vishnu realized now why Rama was not angry when Vishnu told him that his friend would come. Rama only knew that Arfin was coming, not Baim and Gilang. Vishnu thought Rama had liked Baim and Gilang, but in fact the same.

"Ah yes, Om. Baim was the same Glad I who ngajak. Ordinary, make a meeting home later," replied Arfin casually and did not see the lie in it.

"Oh, make a friend come home? Why don't you take the driver with you if you're afraid to go home alone, Fin?"

"I don't want to go home right away, Om, later want to play for a while with the two of them from here." Arfin tried to look as relaxed as possible.

"Hello, Mister." Gilang approached Rama, about to greet the man but Gilang's hand had been patted before he managed to touch his hand. Gilang lowered his head, he walked back slowly, standing next to Baim just like before.

"Yes, you can play with Vishnu, but there should be no commotion," said Rama. Arfin and Vishnu nodded. Rama patted Arfin's shoulder slowly before leaving the place carrying the magazine in hand.

"If you haven't been here for a long time, don't you, Om?" Arfin asked in a high tone so that Rama could hear. Rama turned around, "May, as long as you are not angry with your father later." Rama included the oddity at the end of his sentence, then resumed his steps.

"Gue is very envious of you who can talk to Mr. Rama casually," said Baim slowly so that not many people heard, especially the servants in the house.

Baim and Gilang fared the same, they were both disliked by Rama. Only Arfin accepted Rama to be a friend of Vishnu, because Arfin was the only one who was same class as Vishnu, in contrast to the two of them who were only children of Rama's employees. Rama always regarded Baim and Gilang as Vishnu's subordinates just as he considered their two fathers.

Baim and Gilang wanted to grieve over their fate, but it was useless, so yes they must accept that their caste should indeed be under Vishnu or roughly is to be a servant of Vishnu for eternity. Just like their two fathers did for Rama.

"Don't you lie to me?" Vishnu hits Arfin's arm. "If I'm honest, you're dead" Arfin replied.

"By the way, why did you ask us all to come here, young master?" Gilang asked.

"There's something urgent that I have to tell you both." Vishnu glanced around as if monitoring something. "Not good here, we go to the rooftop."

"Yes, to the rooftop, night-night to the rooftop." Arfin was happy not to play when Vishnu decided they would go to the rooftop, as we all know, Arfin was very fond of rooftops especially at night. Because the man could see the beautiful moon and stars at night in the rooftop. So happy, Arfin swayed like a child who was allowed to buy chocolate and candy by his parents.

The four men arrived at the rooftop of Aksanta's house. There are seats available there. Without asking permission from Vishnu, Baim and Gilang had sat down first, so did Arfin. Vishnu sits between Arfin and Gilang. Arfin sat to the right of Vishnu, Gilang sat to the left of Vishnu and Baim sat next to Gilang.

"That's great, yes" murmured Arfin looking at the star-studded moon in the night sky.

"Gue doesn't have a girlfriend yet, njir," said Vishnu. "Lo know, it's been a month away from the time you gave me. If I can't get a boyfriend soon, I'll be fooled by him. I don't want to be fooled." Vishnu explained in an annoyed tone and a slight whimper. The fact that he has not found a lover makes Vishnu's life a little uneasy, especially Rama always asks if he has a girlfriend or not.

"So how do you want it?" ask Baim.

"Yes help me cake, make a girlfriend," replied Vishnu.

"Gue has given a lot of girl recommendations, you even run," said Arfin. "You girls ain't nothing right, Fin." Vishnu held Arfin's head down. "Yeah the time I'm dating a weird girl." Vishnu amused if you have to remember how the dating journey he faced. Had to meet various strange girls who are very far from the type that Rama wants.

"But." Not finished Vishnu said it, all the look in the eyes of his friends has been pointed at him. "It looks like there is one girl who has attracted the attention of my bokap," he continued.

Baim patted his thigh. "Well that's it, gas ajalah pacarin. You do not have to bother using all acquaintances, because you already give the green light to the girl."

"Whose name?" arfin asked, the man's gaze began to turn serious.

Vishnu was a little hesitant to answer Arfin's question. Vishnu knew that Arfin might be hurt if he found out, but Vishnu knew only Arfin could help him now.

"Elene." The name managed to subdue Arfin's slight gaze. There's a pain there that Arfin can't explain. For all the man knew, there was a very clear sense of disappointment embedded in his heart.

"Fin, sorry, I know you wouldn't like it if I asked you to help this same thing, but I swear you have to help me now." Arfin slightly raised his gaze. "Fin, help me," continued Vishnu.

"How do you help?" Arfin knew what kind of help Vishnu needed, but the man pretended not to know.

"Fin, I know you have a crush on girls, and you're the closest to El too. Lo, more trusted with him than me. So, I ask you to help me, persuade him to be my girlfriend. I promise, I won't like him, I'll take care of your feelings, Fin. I just need the status as a boyfriend so I can trust, and I am not fooled. Please help me Fin, you can trust me, I won't betray you, really."

Vishnu's words melted Arfin's heart, again. The words of Vishnu who always tried to convince himself to do something for him, always managed to make Arfin according, for the umpteenth time. Arfin nodded softly in agreement to Vishnu's words. Smiling Vishnu, the man hugged Arfin.

"Thanks Fin, I'll thank you for the rest of my life, thank you very much." Arfin was still silent yet to put out any words to say.

Vishnu let go of his embrace, he smiled towards Arfin. Arfin slowly brought up a smile as well, could not bear if his friends saw there was disappointment in him. Arfin should be the source of their happiness, because it was Arfin's job from the beginning.

"Gue is very lucky to have a kayak lo friend, Fin," said Vishnu.

"Gue too," Arfin replied.

The four men leaned shoulder to chair, restarting the conversation under the night sky unrelated to Eleena. It was as if the thing that smelled of Eleena was just an advertisement. And as always, Arfin always joined in being the most cheerful and frenetic among them, Arfin and Baim his position as an atmosphere poet, without the presence of both of them, without their presence, tongkrongan feels lonely like there are no residents.

However, when the dizziness stopped again on Arfin, the man began to shut up. Not continuing the conversation with his friends. He preferred to tend his back to the chair and close his eyes for a moment, hoping that this pain would go away.

Vishnu glanced at Arfin who closed his eyes in his chair. Vishnu is lucky to get what he wants, including having a friend like Arfin. Vishnu believed that friendship was above all else, so as he had said, Vishnu would keep his promise and not disappoint Arfin—one of the best friends.
