Have you ever heard the saying about love? You see, he said, "Man will not be able to choose whom he falls in love with, nor can he force that person not to hurt him."
And man also has no control over every meeting or separation. Everything that happens in the world is planned, including meetings between people who used to have the most beautiful stories, and assume that their story will end up as a fairyland full of happiness despite having to go through various rejections at first.
A man's Iris hazel cannot escape the tanned iris of the woman standing in her place across from it. They are in the same place even though they must be separated because in the middle is a street where people pass by.
Asphalt is like a barrier for two people who are immersed in each other's gaze. However, for real life, asphalt in the relationship of Rama and Sinta has a big influence on the lives of both. Asphalt is in the form of bad relations of their families, asphalt was in the form of opposition from their father and mother and brother Sinta.
In fact, the barrier in the relationship of the two people who had spent together more than that. Just as the asphalt was passed by many people to pass by, the asphalt in their relationship even hurt Rama and Sinta inside out.
Their asphalt was so strong that their great love could not destroy them in the slightest. Asphalt in their relationship must hurt and wound and bleed to be able to unite them. But unfortunately, they were hit by a powerful car so that it was back apart. And for the occasion this time, they did not attempt to cross the asphalt again, but rather allowed the asphalt to remain stretched out into a distance for them.
"I miss him, did he ever miss me too?" rama asked in his heart.
Rama's eyes glanced at the street lights that had turned red and the vehicles there did not move because they obeyed the rules. Rama gave his bag to one of the men behind, then quickly crossed the road to reach Sinta. Rama wanted to cross their asphalt again this time, although the asphalt would hurt again, at least he had a chance to be near Sinta though not for long.
"How are you?" That was the question Sinta asked once Rama had arrived before her. The woman thought of no other question than the man. According to Sinta since their umpteenth meeting due to accident, Sinta never asked the news of the man in front of her.
"I'm sure you're all right. I'm just making small talk." Sinta turned around, she walked towards the stop not far from there.
Sinta initially sat at the stop because the heat today was a little sticky even though the previous day often rained. But because his brown iris stared at the iris hazel that he had once made as a place to go home, Sinta was forced to stand up to look at the two slices for a moment.
"Are you sure I'm okay?" Rama sits next to Sinta but unfortunately Sinta distanced herself a little from Rama when she felt that Rama was sitting too close to her.
Rama looked at the distance of a few inches that Sinta made just now. Want as much as Rama thinks of Sinta in his life, the fact that they are strangers and should be apart will never change.
"You have everything Rama. Wife, family, children, wealth and other pleasures" said Sinta reply to the words of Rama who had been thrown to him.
Rama smiled as he harrumphed amusedly, "Yes, I do have everything. But I have no happiness. Do you know what the reason is?"
Sinta looked at the man. "Not happy? Why?" Instead of answering Rama's question, Sinta asked the man back.
"If I had known what the reason was for my unhappiness, I wouldn't have asked you that" Rama replied.
"Yes too." Sinta was a little embarrassed, because she felt her capture power was slower now.
"Sin, how are you?" Now Rama who changed asked that to Sinta.
Sinta did not immediately reply, she was silent for a moment back at the memory of the past. Every time he and Rama met, the man always asked him the news, both past and present.
"You haven't changed, yes" Sinta said.
Rama frowned, "I mean?"
Sinta let out a long sigh, she had to normalize the uneasiness she had felt from just now because of Rama's hazel iris. The woman, looking at Rama again but this time she stared at Rama's hazel iris again. She misses Iris Hazel, whom she used to make home.
"Times change, times change, appearances change, people change too. However, you know Rama, in my eyes you have not changed at all. Every time I meet you, I feel like I met Rama decades ago. You are the same, never changed. Everything is the same, your looks, your words, your attention, your anger and arrogance are still the same." Sinta gave a small chuckle after saying her last few sentences.
"You too" Rama replied quickly. "Nothing has changed from you. You are still Sinta, and will forever remain Sinta."
Sinta turned her gaze straight ahead. Staring at the iris of Hazel Rama turned out to make the woman's chest tight. Drowning in the same iris turned out to make Sinta's eyes heat up. Seeing the hazel color on the eyeball of the same person turned out to make Sinta clenched her hands to channel the pain there. The time had changed, but the pain and feeling Sinta had experienced in the man beside her had not changed.
Sinta, has a trauma on Rama. Whenever she remembered the man, Sinta must have also remembered how Rama left her alone. Rama who does not believe him, Rama who accuses him, all those things are still a wound for Sinta even though he has tried to make peace about it.
"Did you miss me?" Finally, after a long time this question buried in the depths of Rama's heart the question can be thrown now. The question that Rama always wants to ask whenever he meets Sinta in the middle of the road though due to accident and Rama is sure Sinta does not know that Rama knows his presence. This question is also always twisted in the head of Rama every time he looked at a photo of Sinta in his room.
"Did you miss me too?" Sinta asked again. Rama was not surprised at that, Sinta was always like this, replying to the question with a question. You could say, Rama really understands Sinta. The man knew, Sinta would not be able to answer someone else's question first before hearing the answer or opinion of the person who asked him. Sinta is unique, and that's the reason Rama can fall on her until.
"always. If you ask me when I miss you, the answer is always Sinta. I can't even count when I don't miss you. I'm alive, with a longing for you Sinta."
Sinta looked at the man with teary eyes, if she blinked once, all the tears would fall. This tightness in the chest makes Sinta lose her breath but she still has a lot of air for her to breathe because Rama has to continue his words.
Rama drew himself closer to Sinta, he faded the distance between them. Even with a sense of courage, Rama holds Sinta's hand to give her the strength to continue her words.
"Love, I wasn't alive all this time. I've been dead all this time, I lost myself. I can't recognize myself every time I look in the mirror. I lost everything Sinta, after I lost you, I lost everything. Including happiness and a reason to live. Every day it felt like I was in a barren field without any water. I'm claustrophobic, every time I remember you I'm claustrophobic, Sinta. Tell me how to breathe again Sinta."
"Why do you still miss me?" Sinta still took the time to ask even though tears had wet her cheeks.
"I don't know how I don't miss you, Sinta. Tell me how I don't miss you anymore" replied Rama began to wail and it was as if to cut Sinta's heart.
"Rama, don't do this. We're strangers now." Sinta's voice shuddered saying it.
"But you are the reason I live, Sinta," Rama replied.
"Am I in your life?" Sinta wiped her tears, breathing deeply filled the air void in her chest so that she could be better prepared to hear what Rama's answer was.
"my world. My life, as best as mine, my reason for living." Rama's eyes began to glaze over, he clasped Sinta's hand tighter, as if asking the hand to give him strength. "Leaving you that day, is death for me Sinta. I don't know what life means anymore, I don't know what reason I should be born in the world. Leaving you that day is like making hell for myself, Sinta—"
Sinta stopped Rama's words by sticking his hand on Rama's lips. He was not strong at hearing the continuation and honesty of the man anymore. Sinta was not that strong hearing Rama was that broken.
"If I'm your world why did you leave me? Why did you marry another woman? Why is your faith so little for me Rama? Why?!" Sinta intonation is rising. "If I'm so important in your life, why don't you keep me? Wh why? Why Rama? Why are you quiet?!" Sinta hit Rama's chest using the hand that he had used to stop Rama's speech that would come out of his lips.
"I want to take you again Sinta, but I'm powerless. I came to your house that day but I was kicked out. I've been resting under your father's feet, I've also said that if I want to come back to you, I realize I can't without you but he's resisting my presence. I want to trust you again Sinta, I want to fix everything. But I failed. Not just a rejection from your family, but my family as well. Mom wants to kill herself if I don't marry Meethila. I choked Sin," Rama explained.
"I know you're as broken as I am" he continued.
Sinta's tears are no longer. Her cheeks were soaked with tears. One fact that Rama had fought for it made Sinta want to curse herself. The fact that Rama's life was much more miserable than her made Sinta not know how to breathe normally. Sinta only loses the house but Rama loses his world.
"I'm not gonna lie anymore, Sin. I still love you as much as I used to" Rama said as he whispered.
"Rama, I miss you too. I miss everything about you. I'm claustrophobic every time I remember we were so happy before we were this broken now. I'm claustrophobic every time I remember how you left me alone there. I'm claustrophobic every time I remember you inviting me to come to your wedding, I'm as tight as Rama—"
"I'm not happy Sinta. I've never been happy with my marriage, this marriage is for Mama's sake. I can't possibly squirm Mama hurts myself because I didn't marry Meethila." Rama wiped his tears.
"You know Sin, for decades I've been trying to change my world from yours to Meethila's, but in fact I've been hurting myself even more. I killed myself for marrying Meethila, Sinta. I want to get away from all this. Please...."
Sinta's tears are falling. The woman's body shook violently, as well as the hand of Rama who was holding his hand.
"Mas Rama." Rama raised his gaze, followed by Sinta who turned around to see where the voice came from.
"Meethi?"
The person called by his name, only stared flatly, but deep in his heart there was a shapeless shatter.
"You were told to get in the car with Mama. Mama doesn't like you as much as she does." Meethila looked at Sinta with a cold look. The woman who became the main reason he never got the love of Rama. The woman who made Meethila feel defeated in this game of fate.
"Mama's here?" ask Rama. Meethila nodded flatly. "Back home, Mama doesn't like you as much as she does" Meethila continued.
Rama stood up, he looked at his hand that was still holding Sinta's hand. It was heavy to let go of that grip. As if to understand Rama's baldness, Sinta independently removed Rama's hand from his hand. The woman stood up.
"Go home, Mama you told me to," ask Sinta.
"When I get home, I lose you again, don't you, Sin?"
"We have lost each other for a long time Rama, can not be combined as well" replied Sinta lirih.
"Rama, thank you for making me your world, thank you for being my home. But I realized, no matter how hard we try we can't be together. The universe has given us so many signs, but we are still desperate to be together so now we are both sick. Ram, I'm not that strong to accept all the insults of your family, I'm also not that strong to see you humbled by my own family Rama." Sinta gave a pause, took a deep breath.
"Ram, you have to live, you have to be happy. Throw away everything about me in your life. Rama, you can love me, but you also have to accept the fact that our relationship is different. After all, it's not always that we have to have the people we love."
Sinta gave the man a smile. "Thank you, you've been fighting me so many times."
After saying that, Sinta left the stop. She shed her tears again, the woman's hand stopping a taxi passing by in the area. Sinta got inside, told the taxi driver to take her away from there. Sinta cried loudly in the taxi even without a sound.
As for Rama, the man stared softly at the taxi containing Sinta inside slowly disappearing from sight. Meethila approached Rama, the woman clasping her husband's hand. And as he had expected, Rama's hand shook strongly.
Now Meethila realizes, that the relationship of Rama and Sinta is more than just first love. Their story is more than Meethila ever imagined before. The relationship between Rama and Sinta is a beautiful relationship that must be forced to end due to family hostility.
Love is beautiful. Love is needed by every human being. However, there are times when love brings happiness or brings disaster. Every human being has the right to love and be loved, but man has no right to insist that love be possessed. A love story that ends happily is a gift but a story that ends far from the word happiness will give many lessons to the life of every person.
