When Han Wuting's car was already far away in the distance, Zhao Lifei turned towards Yang Ruqin with a frown. He crossed his arms and stared at the dagger from his eyes.
Yang Ruqin shrunk back, knowing she would earn a lot of money.
"A blind date again?! That's the fifth time this month!" Zhao Lifei bit down, her anger rising slightly.
No matter how many times she told Yang Ruqin that she was fine being single, the stubborn woman was unwilling to listen! Dating blind after a blind date and at the least expected time too!
"But Feifei, you will be lonely when I leave for my trip next month!" He whined, grabbed Zhao Lifei's arm and swung it side by side.
Zhao Lifei sighed, pinching the point between his eyebrows. "As I've said a million times before, I'm fine being single. I love my peace and quiet." He frowned. He knew Yang Ruqin was guarding him. The blind date came from good intentions, but she started to get upset with Qinqin's persistence.
What's wrong with being single?
"But, Feifei-"
"Nothing but." Zhao Lifei interrupted, hailing a taxi to take her home.
Yang Ruqin pouted at the sight of how much she wanted to leave him. "Don't leave me first! You may not be lonely, but I must be lonely!" Like a child who wanted to spend more time with his parents, he depended on his Feifei.
Zhao Lifei laughed at her childish friend.
Yang Ruqin's frown was truly adorable and if she was a male, she would definitely do anything to please her.
But he did not and the frown did not work on him. "My dear, you have more friends—"
"But I like you the most!" Yang Ruqin childishly stepped on the ground, her silver anklets twinkling.
Yang Ruqin's long list of friends and acquaintances was endless. It was amazing how he could make so many friends have a constant plan, yet still have time for himself.
Since Yang Ruqin was the only daughter of the prestigious and richest family in the country, many people were clinging to her like flies. They had always wanted Yang Ruqin's presence in social gatherings because it would raise their status significantly.
Zhao Lifei is different.
He did not follow Yang Ruqin like a stray puppy. Instead, she was independent and very selective towards her peers, which forced Yang Ruqin to rely on her.
"Don't be mad at me, Feifei. I just want what's best for you." Yang Ruqin widened her eyes and stuck her lips into a deeper frown.
Zhao Lifei laughed and patted Ruqin on the head. "Okay, okay, all right. Come to my house and I'll lecture you a little more, then we can watch a show you really like."

Zhao Lifei chuckled at the sight and placed a thick blanket on it. After tying up her long hair, she began to clean up the mess they had made. If this was the woman from two years ago, she would have left the task to the house cleaner.
Zhao Lifei thought it best not to be too lazy. He is twenty-three years old and is an adult. Being able to clean the house and wash her clothes was something she should have mastered once she moved out of her parents' house.
But he didn't do it. He used to act like a spoiled brat, who nobody liked, but had to get along if you wanted the good things in life.
He knew he would never be able to fix the sins he had committed in the past, the friendships and relationships he had broken off, she said, but he swore to himself that he would definitely try to make positive changes in his life now and in the future.
While he was sweeping flakes of popcorn into the trash, his phone died. Seeing that contact, he frowned.
His mother called him and the woman only did it when she wanted something from him.
It had been several months since they last spoke and that was when her mother tried to splash boiling hot water onto Zhao Lifei's face. He quickly dodged the attack, or else his face would become a permanent scar. His mother never liked him and after what happened with Zheng Tianyi, the hatred was proven.
Zhao Lifei hesitated to pick up the phone, but on the last ring, she did. As soon as he did, his mother's voice boomed from the phone.
"Why did you lift it so long? Are you trying to disrespect your mother?!" The woman squealed over the phone, her voice getting louder.
Zhao Lifei kept the phone away from his ear.
Wang Nuoli rambled and shouted about Zhao Lifei's hesitation to pick up the phone and make him wait longer than needed. After a few minutes of relentless insults, Zhao Lifei could stand it no longer. "Dear mother, please come to your conclusion."
"You're a boy—"
"Yes, yes, I'm a disgrace, and you wish you hadn't given birth to me twenty-three years ago. We've made sure of that." Zhao Lifei had already remembered the insults of her mother.
Every brutal stab of reality was given by her mother. The woman was cruel and did not show love to her eldest daughter. Instead, he focused all his attention and love on his precious youngest daughter, the perfect star of the Zhao family: Zhao Linhua.
"Your sister's birthday is just around the corner. Give us face by coming to the banquet." Wang Nuoli bit. As much as he hated his eldest daughter with every inch of his soul, Zhao Lifei must have been very useful. He could have the terrible support of Zhao Moyao, the King of the Zhao Company and the man with the highest stake in the company.
Wang Nuoli hated to admit it, but this brat was smart. Growing a good relationship with her grandfather at the age of four, she had a very safe place in her cold heart.
"Are you sure you want me there? I can transfer this call to grandpa because it's your last plan." Zhao Lifei hummed, indifferently examining his nails.
Wang Nuoli almost lost his composure. Of course, the real purpose of him inviting Zhao Lifei was to lure out Zhao Moyao. Having such a majestic, influential, and powerful man appear on the birthday of his youngest daughter will bring unlimited profits that money cannot buy.
Of his five grandchildren, Zhao Lifei was Zhao Moyao's favorite.
Wang Nuoli did not know how Zhao Lifei could curry favor and adore him, but he did so easily. If not for his strong support, he would have never contacted Zhao Lifei.
