MY VERY BRAVE WIFE

MY VERY BRAVE WIFE
Chapter 7

After cooking dinner and enjoying it with Zhao Lifei, Yang Ruqin went home to prepare herself for the photo shoot the next morning.

Zhao Lifei quickly cleaned up the mess in the kitchen, took a shower, then went to his office. He didn't know why he always came to this room, but it turned out that his office was very calming.

From the ticking clock light on the walls, the perfect cityscape, the bright light from the cars below, and the soothing scent of cotton, everything in this room screams comfort.

Sitting on the large window island, Zhao Lifei stared at the city below. He took a sip from his wine glass, twirled it around and laughed to himself due to the taste of the lemon water.

Zhao Lifei tried her best not to drink alcohol because it reminded her of the horrible memories of hatred and self-doubt. Staring at the cityscape, he involuntarily fell asleep and soon found himself caught in a nightmare.

THE RING!

THE RING!

THE RING!

Zhao Lifei's phone rang the next morning, shocking her of the nightmare she was having. Tired and groggy, he grabbed the phone.

He was grimacing in pain in his body. "I slept in an uncomfortable position, no wonder my body hurt" he murmured to himself.

Without seeing the caller ID, he tiredly picked up the phone. "...Hello?" He greeted, his voice mixed with heavy fatigue.

"Xiao Fei, did you just wake up?" His grandfather's old, yet deep and powerful voice immediately snapped Zhao Lifei out of his sleepy trance.

Despite the fact that Zhao Moyao was not watching him, Zhao Lifei sat up straighter. "Yes I do." She timidly replied.

A low laugh could be heard. "My dear, it's already one o'clock in the afternoon. It's not good to sleep that long." He pondered. "I hope you didn't fall asleep while drinking some kind of wine or whiskey?" Although his voice was light and warm, there was a layer of warning hidden underneath.

Zhao Lifei smiled, even though she knew she could not see him. No, of course not. I promised you I'd stop drinking too much, didn't I?" He took a glass of lemon water wine and placed it in the kitchen sink.

After a few seconds of careful thought, he added, "But that doesn't mean I've been perfect. I drank lemon water from a wine glass last night."

Zhao Moyao laughed heartily at the sight of her grandson sulking over the lemon water. "As long as it's not wine, I'm fine with whatever glass you drink." He was amused by his words.

He was glad he finally changed his alcohol ways. It destroyed it once. He does not want history to repeat itself.

"Have you had lunch, Xiao Fei?" He asked, clearly having ulterior motives.

Zhao Lifei raised an eyebrow at his question. He prayed he didn't join the blind date train. He already had one yesterday!

"Yet. Did you?" He asked, putting the glass into the kitchen sink.

"No, no. How about you have a casual chat with me at one of the restaurants near my office?" He suggested, stand up from the leather chair.

Zhao Lifei already knew he had other plans, but he was too lonely to care. "Of course I like." He secretly said.

"Well, I'll see you in an hour."

"All right, goodbye, grandpa."

"Goodbye, son." He hung up.

Zhao Lifei started to get ready. He knew if he wanted to meet near his office, he would eventually be dragged into that big company. So she brushed her teeth, took a shower, and wore something casual.

Wearing a white Chanel blouse, Valentino's trousers, and the latest handbags, the women couldn't help but stare at Zhao Lifei. Even when the Queen lost her throne, she did not lose her elegance and elegance.

Zhao Lifei already knew the woman who frequented this restaurant was a famous socialite, so she was wearing clothes that left them speechless. The only drawback was that he got out of a public taxi, not a private driver.

"Haha, all those expensive clothes and he got out of the farmer's car."

"Who does he think he is? Wearing the latest clothes when his credit card is all blocked?"

"I'm surprised he could even buy those brands, didn't Zheng Tianyi put them on the blacklist of those stores?"

"Hmph, he might have to ask someone to buy it for him. It's a shame."

If he heard rumors about her, Zhao Lifei showed no signs of it. Instead, he continued to look forward and raised his head.

His crown might fall, but he didn't. Moreover, he had no time to engage in their unreasonable chatter and gossip. If he wanted to, he could instantly snap back, but he was too hungry and tired to do so.

Zhao Lifei passed through a long line and went straight into the restaurant.

"Mom, have you made a reservation yet?" The woman at the front counter asked, taking a quick look at her clothes. He had been working here for some time now and could instantly smell the smell of money; zhao Lifei seemed to be made of it.

"No, I didn't do it." Zhao Lifei's words immediately caused the women at the entrance to laugh and gossip.

"Well, now he can't get in."

"Get out of the poor car and now he's going out with his head down."

"Register of reservation wait here three months, there's no way he can get in." The women laughed to themselves, clearly not knowing his strong support.

"Sorry Mom, but you can't go in without a reservation." The hostess said politely. He almost rolled his eyes as Zhao Lifei pursed his lips.

"Mrs, you're holding the line. If you don't have a reservation, I'll have to ask you to leave." He added, finally rolling his eyes as Zhao Lifei raised her eyebrows amusedly.

'If he doesn't have a reservation, why waste my time?' The woman thinks to herself.

Just then, a man in a gray suit stepped forward. His gaze was cold and stoic, forever with a serious and professional demeanor.

The hostess in front immediately bowed before the man. "Good night, Manager Tang—"

"Let the honored guest come in. He doesn't need a reservation." The man's voice was extremely cold and the atmosphere around him was very calm.

"Tang Sudong, it's been a while." Zhao Lifei said, a smile adorning his face before his old friend.

His petrified gaze softened before him. He gently patted her on the head and resisted the urge to ruffle through it.

"Indeed, it's been a long time. We haven't spoken for two years." He scolded, guided her into the restaurant and towards the private room where Zhao Moyao was waiting for him.

The people outside the restaurant were stunned. They would never have expected the Iron Manager to be able to smile or have a warm expression on his face. All employees were equally surprised.

Tang Sudong had never shown any special treatment to anyone, regardless of his social status. They could have been A-list celebrities and he would not have cared about the idea of driving them out of restaurants. His mindset was very different from Zhao Lifei's. Without hesitation, he beckoned at her inside the restaurant.

People stared at the scene, their mouths open in shock. He treated her like she was a VIP or something, even though her current status was too low in the food chain!

No one knew the long history between Tang Sudong and Zhao Lifei, the woman who saved his life.
