Phantom Kid in the American Comic World

Phantom Kid in the American Comic World
17. Time for a trailer

For whatever reason, Daggett did not come to his own collection hall, which made Mathison miss out on the most suitable disguise.

After all, the owner of the place was always the best choice to go undercover…

The structure of the collection hall is not the same as the hall in general. There is not much collection space, and right in the middle is a circular tour hall that occupies most of the space on the first floor. There are large collection rooms on both sides of the hall, next to the hall that connects the two collection rooms. There was also an interconnected corridor, behind these two rooms, that surrounded the hall.

But strangely enough, this corridor is not connected to the outside of the hall, meaning once you enter through the main door of the collection, you can only enter one of the collection rooms through the hallway before reaching the corridor.

No one knows why Daggett designed such a strange corridor in his collection. He refused to say anything about it.

The entire collection has two floors, each about eight meters high.

At first glance at the interior of the building, Mathison has only one feeling: everything is so big, the floors are above standard, the hallways are empty, and all the hallways and corridors are designed with incredible width.

It was as if the building was deliberately made to look bigger.

On the first floor, where the collection is located, arched wooden stairs extend from both sides of the hall on the first floor, connecting the second. And on the way to the second floor, there was a long circular corridor around it, with two collection rooms on each side of the corridor, about five meters apart, with two rooms facing each other, so that in total there are twelve collections. .

Adding the two rooms on the ground floor into fourteen, each of which is divided into two parts: one for the police to guard and the other for collection, separated by a safe door, and the other, which is a secret room with motion sensors.

Daggett's wealth is far less than Wayne's, and his collection is mostly "ordinary stuff" worth about a million dollars. It did not even contain many items, only about a hundred, with the most valuable being Cat's Eye Emerald, sold for $21 million at an auction.

The Cat's Eye Emerald is much more valuable than the Adam's Star, as the latter is the world's largest sapphire and a national treasure. And although the Cat's Emerald Eye is rare, it's not even considered the most valuable cat's eye stone.

However, this does not mean that the Cat's Eye Emerald is not worth stealing; in fact, from Mathison's aesthetic point of view, this stone looks much better than the Adam's Star, and, as a collector of items, is, she prefers Cat's Eye Emerald.

Of course, it would also be more suitable as a gift, since Cat's Eye Emerald is set in a necklace…

The number of GCPD officers arranged in the collection hall was beyond imagination. Gordon brought in a total of over 1200 police officers, even if it was not a big place and bringing in this many officers would be considered useless.

Five hundred officers set up barriers outside the collection rooms to prevent unrelated personnel from approaching, while the remaining hundreds of officers, 150 of whom in 30 speedboats patrolled the sea, 200 on the beach, were on board, and three helicopters hovered in the air, with three snipers on board.

It was as if there was a war.

The last 300 are distributed throughout the collection space, 20 at the main entrance, 10 in each of the collection rooms. Air vents, stairs, corridors, and roofs are all guarded, with each point guaranteed to be guarded by at least three police officers.

During the final heist, as only two policemen are allowed to watch the back door, the Phantom Kid takes the opportunity to take advantage of the situation. Gordon won't make the same mistake a second time. So, to make sure Kid isn't disguised as his friend, if any officers are found alone, they'll be treated as Phantom Kid.

”Ck, ck.. I think Gordon has lived up to his reputation as an expert in such difficult times. Even Gordon from the Cinematic Universe was not that easy to deal with, this collection hall was already difficult to infiltrate. Unfortunately, I've entered. ”

Mathison smiled silently, and as soon as she mapped the inside of the collection hall, she disappeared from the patrol, unnoticed. No one noticed he was gone …

“There's still half an hour left, you guys have to wait for a big surprise.”

Meanwhile, Gordon and Aaron walk up to the roof, confident in their arrangements. Even if Batman came, he would never be able to sneak in.

If the Phantom Kid still wanted to steal the Cat's Eye Emerald, there was only one way, and that was to force him in.

One man against thousands of police officers, something even Batman would not be able to do.

“I don't think.”

These days, he has studied many videos about Kid stealing the Star of Adam to finally conclude that Kid is a criminal who is very good at gathering information. From the moment he appeared, threw a flashbang, and finally fooled Gordon, every move seemed to have been expected beforehand.

Also, how does Kid know what Aaron looks like and sounds like? Maybe through some news reports? However, Aaron's general tone of voice was not something that could be easily imitated.

This just means that Kid has done extensive research, well in advance. His research was so thorough that any passerby who happened to cross paths while walking on the street was expected to be Kid in disguise.

“So, unbeknownst to us, I think Kid already knows about all the arrangements made here, no... maybe he is among us now!”

Barbara said with a serious face.

"What makes you think that?"

As Gordon asks, she knows that her daughter is smart, sometimes she will explain Barbara's analysis of certain cases.

"Really, it's just a hunch!"

There's no way Barbara can prove, without proof, that the Phantom Kid is here.

Gordon was silent for a moment; was Kidd really here? Or will he show up in a strange way again?

It will all be revealed in half an hour.

”This is the Gotham Gazette, we are now inside the coastal boundary of Downtown Island, opposite the camera is the personal collection of John Daggett, you can see the barrier has been installed in front of him by the GCPD, you can see the barrier has been installed in front of him by the GCPD, we can't get close there .”

Beyond the barrier, a female reporter begins her job.

”A little while ago, Mr. Daggett and GCPD received a teaser letter from Phantom Kid simultaneously. And according to what the police have just revealed, the teaser letter has been broken into and Kid will appear within half an hour of the direction of the Atlantic Ocean.”.

Dozens of media had sent reporters to the area to broadcast live, in addition to the thousands of spectators present, the buzz was huge.

“What do you think, will the Phantom Kid show up on time? There are so many cops here that I probably wouldn't even look inside if it was me. ”

"So? You're not him!”

"I believe in Kid, he'll show up."

"I don't think he'd pull out a teaser letter if it wasn't for his confidence."

In the crowd, several students were discussing, and, if Barbara was here, she would have noticed that this was the same student who talked about Kid in class the other day.

There were many similar students, all eagerly discussing what kind of performance Kidd would be doing today.

Thirty minutes passed quickly, and Gordon stared at his watch. The hour hand had stopped at "nine", and the second was now measured by his heartbeat.

One two three…

The trailer is over – finally!
