62. The New York Police Department

"You're back?"

Upon returning from school, Mathison sees Charlie lying on the couch watching TV.

There was a pack of chips and a can of Coke on the table, and every once in a while, his claws grabbed a piece of chips and put them in his mouth before sipping Coke.

Charlie welcomes Mathison lazily upon his return.

"Why are you alone, where's your little girlfriend?"

Mathison sat on the couch with a headache, casually picked up a piece of chips, thought about it, and put it back down.

"Barbara's not my girlfriend."

"Huh."

Charlie gave her a strange look, “What, you've liked someone all this time and you're still afraid to confess? Oh, you're afraid of being stuck in a relationship, aren't you? ”

It is hard to imagine a dog speaking in such an old-fashioned way as he has experienced so many things.

Indeed, even if Mathison had been a human for two lives, the combined life span would not be as long as a puppy in front of her.

Charlie is considered to be a small dog among his species.

But his strength was actually no worse than many big dogs, thanks to Charlie's noble blood.

"You .. You talk too much."

Mathison pats Charlie on the head.

“You finally decided to go to New York? Didn't you say there will soon be an invasion of foreign armies?”

Charlie is a ... dog that Mathison can really trust, so Mathison tells a lot of information. This will make their relationship progress in a smoother way.

Get rid of Barbara and New York. I really don't feel comfortable. My life has always been this difficult. If I hadn't gotten Gordon's help ten years ago, I would have starved to death in Gotham.”

Mathison shrugged, “Again, we'll go to New York sooner or later. Meh, the ride shouldn't be this bad. ”

Charlie smiled enthusiastically and said, “There is a problem now; how do you plan to solve it? When you go to New York, the Phantom Kid will also appear in New York. Incidentally, do you think Barbara would let him and not suspect you again?”

"And what if we let Kid show up in New York first?"

Mathison said confidently.

Checking the latest news from the newspaper, the front page was none other than a bald fat man who was two meters tall.

Wilson Fisk, a well-known American philanthropist, will hold a charity gala in a week.

At the gala, he will donate a long-held green diamond – Dresden!

The world's largest green diamond, worth its fortune.

Gotham doesn't have many precious gems on display recently, so it's only natural for the Phantom Kid to head to another city in search of a big target right now.

And Gotham is located in New Jersey, besides New York. Gotham and New York are separated by Manhattan Island. Drive a speedboat and, in less than an hour, you'll be in New York.

Plus, Mathison and Barbara won't be leaving for the trip until a month later, and within this time, the Phantom Kid will be doing a case or two in New York.

This will make it difficult to associate Mathison with the Phantom Kid.

"So you want me to protect you at home when the Phantom Kid shows up in New York?"

“That's right, with my current ability to escape, my return trip will not be more than three hours. If anyone comes during this time, you can use the bow tie voice changer to persuade me and lie about getting sick or something like that. I'm sure you'll take care of it, Charlie.”

Mathison said positive.

Charlie doubted this, “You said earlier, this Wilson Fisk has a nickname, Kingpin, the greatest underworld ruler in the United States, and his personal power has reached the limits of mankind. Are you sure you can handle it?”

"Don't worry. Charlie, I won't mess around, fighting isn't part of my job.”

Hearing Mathison's words, Charlie thought carefully about his dog's brain and thought it was quite decent.

Then, a man and his dog began discussing specific details ...

The next day, midnight.

After changing his face, Mathison secretly comes to the vicinity of Miller Harbor and boards a prepared speedboat.

Before the official action, he still had seven days to make a move.

Hence, he started out late at night every night. This might cause him a little sleep deprivation, but only then would it not arouse any outsiders suspicions about "Mathison".

New York, the economic hub of the United States and the world, often competes with Gotham for the top spot in the city's economy. But, of course, New York wins more often.

Gotham can economically compete with New York, largely because Wayne Enterprises is headquartered in Gotham. However, aside from Wayne Enterprises, Gotham is difficult to have other supergroups.

In contrast, in New York, Stark and Osborne were quite competitive with Wayne Enterprises, while other major groups such as Pym Technologies, AIM, and Hammer Industries were also very competitive.

In this case, Gotham can sometimes win over New York, which shows the power of Wayne Enterprises.

When Mathison sets foot on Manhattan Island, the first thing she does is stop a cab to the New York Police Department, to send her own teaser letter.

Why not send it to Kingpin first, the reason is very simple:

Kingpin is a very ambitious person and has extreme arrogance about himself. Even if he received a teaser letter, he would only use his own means to kill the person who dared to provoke him.

He couldn't possibly fuss over this sort of thing, let alone call the police. So, how can one get a fish if there is not enough water?

George Stacey is the head of the New York Police Department. His position compared to Gordon was the same. But he's a little younger than Gordon, just in his thirties.

George is a very dedicated and considerate cop, in many places, he is very similar to Gordon. The only difference between the two is that he dislikes masked guards running around the streets at night.

So if he were Gotham's police commissioner, it's very likely that GCPD and Batman wouldn't have a good relationship.

Like Gordon, George's wife died very early, leaving only one daughter. He was only eleven years old and still in elementary school.

Of course, here it should be mentioned that his daughter had a childhood playmate named Peter Parker.

On this day, George works overtime at the police station, and he often prepares a cup of coffee at his desk.

He finished his work with the last sip of coffee he drank.

At this point, he only had the last bit of coffee left in his cup, which meant that he spent his last moments with this workload.

George wanted to go home soon, he remembered his daughter was still waiting for him excitedly. He remembered that he made sandwiches for dinner, but did not know if he had eaten them.

Although the sandwich didn't sound too generous, it was all George could prepare now. Nevertheless, she actively learned to cook well. However, even though he knew some recipes, he did not have a talent for culinary ...

However, just as George was about to finish the final job, he heard a muffled voice coming from the window.

Reflexively, he turned his head to look, and a black and white card stuck to the window ...
