“Oh, isn't this kid who's big head just because it's chosen to enter in a special lane?”
“I don't know what you mean. I'm not big head, I'm just stating a fact.”
At the end of my view Max was seen exchanging words with a man who looked very upset with Max, I recognized the man.
He is the one who will start the event tonight, he looks very angry because of the words thrown by Max.
The veil visible from his forehead as well as his red eyes glaring at him made people look up to think he wanted to kill Max.
His name is Vern Crownbell, a crewman with a caster position who is arguably talented in his ability to use magic spells. Talent is not enough for him.
His family, Crownbell is a family famous for its members who are geniuses and very proficient in elemental magic such as fire, water, earth, wind and others.
Long story short, he did not meet the standards given by his family, which caused him to be insinuated there and here by his family.
To the extent that he has Inferiority complex, so he has feelings of hate and jealousy to people who are more talented in him.
Unable to bear the scorn directed at him in the end he made a contract with the devil, which makes him stronger and talented but on the condition that he must perform a ritual every month in order to recover the power of the devil as in his prime.
Making a contract with the devil is very taboo for the Awakeners, because the payment to be given is very heinous, he said, such as sacrificing one's own soul or even performing an evil and terrible ritual in order to get something the contractor wants.
Not only that the devil contractors also cause them to often lose control of their emotions.
Many of the criminal cases committed by Awakeners are caused by contractors who lose control of their emotions and destroy everything in front of them blindly.
Demons are also one of the monsters that come out of the light pillar and are highly intellectual beings like humans.
However they had extremely vile natures and their magic techniques were considered taboo to humans.
They were also the monsters responsible for seventy percent of the deaths of a third of the human population at the time of [The Awakening Days].
It seems Max's self-introduction sparked Vern's anger.
In the game it is mentioned that Vern is actually Lilith's childhood friend and she is also one of the many men who fell in love with Lilith Beauviolth, and he expressed his feelings for Lilith which Lilith rejected.
Combined with Max's overbearing remarks that triggered his inferiority complex and the fact that he entered the building side by side with Lilith made him very angry and envious of her.
But, I should have been in Max's position. In the game the player who plays as Tristan will meet Lilith while on foot to the party venue.
Then Tristan and Lilith will walk side by side to the party venue. The reason why I wanted to walk was due to the thing I mentioned earlier.
“Hey, realize that you are just a first-year cadet. You don't know how hard this world is. A frog in a well does not know the vastness of the sea”
Vern insinuates Max by calling him a frog in a well, but he does not know that among all first-year cadets he is one of the few who has life and death battle experience.
And I think he will be able to fight as an equal opponent of Lilith, even though Lilith seems to excel in terms of pure strength.
But I feel confident that Max can compensate him with his abundant experience, you have no idea what devious tactics the boy is planning in his head.
Max seems to be grim with Vern's words, either because he knows that he has abundant experience unlike what Vern said or any other reason.
“you seem to be in love with your own voice, but please don't think that others like it too.”
Sindir Max while scraping his ears.
Honestly, I've never seen anyone that angry in my whole life right now.
“How dare you?! Let's see when your mouth can spit out such nonsense!”
Along with a shout and his face filled with anger, he activated a magic aimed at Max.
Lightning was seen radiating dangerously from Vern's hands.
Max smiled cunningly at the scene in front of him and began to take a stance to fight, while Lilith just kept silent while sipping wine looking at the events in front of her as if it was interesting to watch.
Normally he would immediately divorce the two, but he decided to watch what was in front of him as most of the guests had left this building.
Soon a bolt of lightning bolted from a Vern magic circle toward Max, which Max easily avoided.
Not stopping from there Vern made several attacks equal to the number of more magical circles and dense, but the effort was still in vain because Max again seemed to avoid his attacks easily.
Max with lightning steps he ran straight towards Vern as if he was constantly fed up of dodging.
Of course Vern did not stay still, he quickly made a magic spell to get away from Max and activated elemental attack magic circles such as fireball, water bullet, and thunderclap. Which is all the basic attacks of every magic element.
But again all of that was avoided by Max, when I was deciding to break them up or not.
The magic power from Vern's direction seemed to explode as if he had concluded that an ordinary attack would not be able to hit Max.
Vern seemed to decide to use a more deadly magic attack, then several dazzling lightning bolts forming a spear were seen hovering above Vern.
It was a lightning lance magic technique, a powerful magic attack with a grade-C threat level. Seeing the situation getting more serious, Lilith seemed to change her mind and then shouted towards Vern.
“It's enough to play! Don't you know the consequences if you launch that attack?!”
However, Vern is not seen hearing Lilith and it seems that anger has taken hold of him. But after preparing to launch his attack, Max was not seen in front of him.
“I'm here g*block.”
Along with Max's words, a loud punch was heard and Vern's body seemed to be thrown flying, which finally hit a table with various kinds of food arranged on it. Even though Max's punch looked sick, the food stuck to his body seemed to really make him humiliated and even more angry.
“Vern stop, otherwise then I am forced to take further action.”
But Vern is not seen listening to Lilith's orders, he just sits on a table that has been broken, bows his head towards the floor and his shoulders look up and down caused by her breathing roughly. Suddenly he screamed with anger.
“BACOT B*NGSAT!!!”
- BRUAAKK
“Ugh!”
Surprised by Vern's punch, Lilith repelled him quickly, but it seemed as if her punch contained a momentum stronger than she had expected that sent Lilith bouncing several tens of meters away and smashing into a pillar.
But there is something strange about Vern's appearance, his eyes look very red, long fangs appear from his mouth, and also his veined body accompanied by sharp nails like a dagger.
Then what I saw was Vern's performance that wasn't supposed to happen at tonight's event, that performance was supposed to be seen at the midterm practice exam.
It was the appearance of someone who made a contract with a demon who had lost control of his emotions.
