Possesssor'S Memory

Possesssor'S Memory
Ch. 13 - The Devil

-flutter

A man seemed to be flipping through the paper on one of the documents on his desk.

His red eyes lit up calmly analyzing the information on that piece of paper.

"So they beat the Contractor?"

He was seen asking the woman in front of his desk.

"True, Lilith, Tristan, Max and Zetto are cadets who defeat the Devil Contractors with the class-B threat. Despite the intervention by cadet Ragnar."

Hearing that, the man smiled and laughed.

"Hahahahah!!! look, my eyes are never wrong in choosing a cadet for a special line!"

The identity of the man was Thomas Leonhert, the Head of the Academy of [Arcane Academy].

"How great are my eyes, but still the fact that they can kill a demonic contractor on their first day here is impressive."

He said with a big smile while looking at the piece of paper containing the information of the cadet in question.

His secretary had never seen his superior this happy when he worked with him.

"However, it seems that for a while the Crownbells will be busy cleaning up the dirt on their shirts."

"Heh, we'll see what the arrogant family will do in this matter"

He turned to the window that showed the cloudy weather covering the sun in the morning.

"Oh yes, call these cadets now, I want to give a gift to them directly.

"About that... I'm getting information that cadet Max's permission to leave this place for a while on the grounds he wants to take care of something and tomorrow he'll be back."

"Something? Heh, as I thought he had a lot of secrets. Well how else let's put it off for a while."

At the same time,

A man was seen standing in the carriage clutching a handle hanging from the roof of the train.

The man's suit was all black from head to toe.

'The clothes of the intruder are decent too'

His thought inwardly, his golden eyes lit up coupled with his cynical and sly smile, he gave off a dangerous aura.

Then his attention was on a town.

More precisely his attention was on a building that looked old and abandoned across the city.

*

Just the day after the night that Vern was killed, in a certain abandoned building at night, heavy specks of rain were seen blanketing the building.

A voice filled with anger was heard all over the building

“Sial, that useless human was even killed at times like this!.”

A figure is seen in an abandoned building with a pair of horns with dark red skin color, a pair of fangs and sharp nails like a dagger and a red scaly tail appears in the tail.

He looks badly injured, his path staggered and had to walk with the help of a wall so as not to fall.

The figure is a demon who made a contract with Vern Crownbell named Asmaroth, he was injured because Vern was killed.

Normally demons have little to no loss or even no loss when making contracts with humans because they do not share their souls with contractors.

However Asmaroth was obsessed with recovering his lost strength from fighting with one of the [Arcane Academy] professors, so in order for him to recover quickly he had to split his soul into Vern.

Moreover, Vern was an easy target for him, although he was not ignored by his family, he was still a member of a famous family which allowed him to obtain the resources needed to recover the power of Asmaroth.

Not ignored by his family even became a plus for Asmaroth because the possibility of Vern being caught by them is getting smaller.

“If it wasn't because he couldn't control his emotions, I wouldn't be in this position.”

The demon muttered with anger and hatred and said to himself.

“I need a contractor to heal the wounds on my soul, along with restoring my strength.”

Just at that moment Asmaroth saw a man walking to the front of the building and stopping, the man appeared to be carrying materials and tools to make a contract.

Somehow he was able to find out the hiding place of Asmaroth, then the man shouted towards the building.

“Oh demon! I came here to make a contract with you!”

Asmaroth was originally a trap of demon hunters, but felt an aura of anger, hatred, envy and other negative emotions.

Asmaroth then walked out of the window and slowly floated down while opening his arms wide as if welcoming the man, seeing the figure of the asmaroth, the man immediately knelt before him and said.

“You can take my soul, my treasure, or anything from me!! Provided you make me succeed in avenging my revenge!”

Asmaroth was quite surprised by the amount of aura of negative emotions from the man, looking at the man's clothes, he looked like quite a person to be.

Asmaroth smiled vilely silently then extended his hand to the man and said.

“It looks like you have a very deep sense of vengeance, but you don't have to worry, accept my hand then I can solve it all.”

Without a second thought the man received a hand from the demon, as if he knew there was no turning back when someone made a contract with the devil.

But his resentment seemed so strong that he did not care about the price to be able to avenge him.

Then the complex magic circles in blood red seemed to bind the souls of the two individuals.

“You're lucky, I'm moved by your deep sense of vengeance. So that on this contract I divide my soul into your soul.”

“Thank you, really very thank you”

Of course it was just a lie, all Asmaroth wanted was to recover his strength and heal his soul, he was not the least bit concerned about the revenge of this man who was shedding his tears of hatred.

clap clap - clap

Then the sound of applause was heard in the darkness of the forest in front of the building, turning towards the arrival of the voice, he saw a man wearing high-bodied black clothes, he said, and his golden eyes shone in the darkness.

“Come to my front.”

The man who had been kneeling in tears suddenly stood expressionless as if he had never cried and walked towards the tall man.

Asmaroth who saw the absurd incident was speechless, Instantly a sound of flesh tearing along with intense pain felt in Asmaroth's chest made him vomit blood and kneel down.

He then turned his head towards the two men, and was surprised to see the man wearing the hoodie stab and pierce through the left chest of the man who had made a contract with him with only his bare hands.

The man's visible heart was still beating in the robed man's hands.

Confusion, anger and other emotions hit Asmaroth's head, until he finally concluded that all this was a trap.

“Wow, I did not expect to kill a demon turned out to be this easy.”

The man's mocking voice rang into Asmaroth's ears which made him very angry, he with difficulty rose staggering and looked troubled to gather magic and cast a magic spell.

But not letting him finish the magic, the cloaked man smashed the heart of the man who had made the contract with Asmaroth.

As a result Asmaroth failed in activating magic and fell on the ground filled with puddles without power.

The man with the hoodie then took off his hood, revealing his face with golden-colored eyes.

The identity of the hoodie man was Max Goldwel, shortly afterwards he then opened his mouth

“You must have many questions about this incident, just relax I will tell you all. Besides I don't have any friends to tell stories by my side.”

Asmaroth looked at Max helplessly, Max ignored this and sat down beside Asmaroth's body and began to tell stories in the midst of the torrent of rain and thunder with lightning bolts.

The story begins with him secretly absorbing demonic energy from Vern using [Mimic Parasite] as Max attacks him on a pillar in the banquet building, and Max's [Witchcraft] skill rose to C+-class.

He also performed the [Memory Extraction] technique which originally had to be done on a living subject that had now been able to be done on a corpse.

So he secretly uses the technique on Vern's corpse, which reveals Asmaroth's hideout.

Max also realizes he can control someone and their desires through the skill [Witchcraft] which used to only control someone like an expressionless robot.

“Although I can only do it to weak people, but this is still awesome isn't it? A technique that can control one's desires as I wish if it works!!.”

Part by part the puzzle had been arranged so that now that everything was making sense, Asmaroth who then realized how devious the tactics Max used, opened his mouth and said.

“Mo-Monster”

“HAHAHA!!! Said a monster by a demon, doesn't this sound funny and ironic?”

Max then chuckled at the words uttered by Asmaroth, Shortly afterwards Asmaroth, a demon who used to be a monster with an A-grade threat level closed his eyes and breathed his last tonight beside the man who killed him.

Asmaroth's body then gradually turned to dust, Max saw the scene before his eyes open his mouth with a regretful expression.

“Cih, I seemed to be too engrossed in telling stories so I forgot to search and imitate the skill of a demon from him using [Mimic Parasite].”

After that, he got up, stood up, and stared at the sky filled with lightning, rain and thunderous roars.

He then smiled thinking about the exciting events that will come in the future, Max thanked deeply to the possessor who had ‘gave’ his memory to Max.

Seeing nothing interesting he then went from that place by jumping from a puddle to another puddle of water while whistling like a child, looking forward to an adventure in the future that looks very fun.
