Possesssor'S Memory

Possesssor'S Memory
Ch. 22 - Mission (1)

“So this is the vehicle we will use in this mission?”

I asked as I rubbed my chin and assessed the vehicle in front of us.

“Yoi, how? Cool right?”

Tristan replied with a proud smile towards me.

In front of us is a black van type vehicle whose body has been modified with special metal to be very strong and sturdy.

“Great also you can be loaned by them.”

This van is a van whose trunk is filled with special instruments that help the hunt will be done by the Awakeners.

Instruments such as the magical Radar that scans and analyzes magical frequencies, detects magical marks, and interferes with magical energy.

There are many other useful instruments.

As a result many different types of antennas are mounted on the roof of this van, making this vehicle conspicuous.

“Thank you for Zetto introducing me to one of his acquaintances, and also with my status as a special cadet at [Arcane Academy], so I can borrow this van from them.”

Looks like this Zetto acquaintance wants to invest by doing a good relationship with a special path cadet because they can be sure to be ‘besat’ people in the future.

“So, who are our partners who will operate those instruments in this hunt?”

I asked Tristan to be curious about the person who will accompany us in the hunt that we will do.

By the way, I myself was able to operate the instruments in the van because of what I did before I became an academy cadet.

Tristan was then seen opening the trunk door of the vehicle which showed a young man who looked busy and happy inspecting the instruments in this trunk.

"So how? Is the equipment good?"

As he was busy with himself, he was unaware that we were getting into the van so the young man then seemed shocked by Tristan's voice.

His face and body gestures looked very happy and quickly answered Tristan's question,

"Everything is really sophisticated and complete! I didn't expect that I would see this beautiful instrument in my life or even be able to operate it with my own hands!"

she was very energetic and excited, seeing this Tristan could only smile wryly.

Then the young man finally realized that I was behind Tristan.

"He's…"

"Oh yeah, Max introduce this Ian. And Ian introduced him to Max Goldwel.”

Hearing Tristan's words, I casually reached out my hand to shake hands with this man named Ian.

“Uhm, ee... Introduce my name Ian, uh... like you, I am also a student of [Arcane Academy] from the department of [Arcane Intel Network].”

He awkwardly introduced himself to me and accepted a handshake request from me.

[Arcane Intel Network] is a department that trains students with comprehensive teaching on various methods to assist Awakeners in their assignments by providing the information needed when Awakener is operating.

This department can be entered by both Awakener and non-Awakener, and by looking at the magical flow in this man in front of me, he can be certain to be a non-Awakener.

“Include my name is Max Goldwel and I am a cadet at [Arcane academy], nice to meet you.”

I replied with a small smile and replied to Ian's stiff introduction. But it seemed that having seen my casual introduction, his eyes seemed to shine and then opened his mouth.

“Max Goldwel huh? Uhm. I've heard a lot of cool rumors from you. Like the rumor that you conquered the demon contractor along with senior Ragnar, Tristan, and also other special cadets.”

“Oh, really? Looks like I'm quite famous in [Arcane Academy].”

I replied with a small laugh, Ian then continued,

“Tak is only in the Academy! Aren't you the one who defeated the Nightprowler herd by using only firearms, many have seen it on the internet!”

Hearing that, I was a little surprised for a while.

-Clap

Then a clapping sound was heard from outside the van, the origin of the sound was Tristan.

Then he said,

“Alright, it seems like enough introduction. And also happens to be our driver has come, so just get us moving as planned.”

Seen a middle-aged man introduced himself to us briefly then got into a seat for the driver on the van.

“According to the route I said yes sir.” Tristan said to the driver.

“Siap gan.”

- Vroom

Shortly after, the van's engine came on and Tristan joined the van's trunk with Ian and me.

“Come get ready, check all the equipment.” Tristan told me and Ian.

I also opened a bag containing my hunting equipment. Tristan who was beside me also did the same.

While Ian was seen fiddling and activating the instruments in this van.

Anti-magical vests, military gloves and shoes, as well as various accessories useful in this hunt are displayed all over my body.

And don't forget the Colt Anaconda revolver on my waist.

Unlike the old Awakener gear, which looks like a medieval warrior. Now Tristan and I look like modern soldiers because of our design.

Then Tristan called us to give a brief instruction on the hunt we were going to do.

“As you already know, that we will hunt spider-type monsters that are Arachnor in an abandoned building in the city of Eldoria where the population of Arachnor there rose drastically.” explained Tristan.

First of all this hunting was a mission given by [Arcane Academy], and normally first year cadets could not take this mission before the first semester was over.

However this was one of the benefits of being a special path cadet, so Tristan was able to take on the mission given by the academy.

The reward of completing this mission is credit is also not infrequently a valuable magical item, but on this mission the reward is only credit.

Tristan says that he took this mission to add experience and credit is just a bonus to him.

I guess that he was after something more, like a magical item or even an event would happen at that location.

My attention then returned to Tristan who was still explaining.

“Max, as we planned, you will use your fire magic to burn Arachnor's nets and nests.”

“Each boss.”

And that way the order from Tristan is finished from here.

- One minute.

The driver's voice was heard indicating that after one minute we would reach the destination.

We then swiftly double-checked all our equipment and weapons.

then I held a stick that was about 40 cm long and with the push of a button, it extended and turned into a spear of more than two meters in length.

I chose this weapon because I did not want to deal with the disgusting liquid that the Giant Spiders would release when I attacked them with my bare hands.

And Tristan also seemed to have the same thoughts as me by seeing him use a katana sword longer than he used to wear.

- Tok Tok

A knock was heard from the driver's seat indicating we had reached our destination.

“So how is the situation Ian?”

I grabbed Ian sitting in the chair and my gaze focused on a monitor that showed something like radar.

“As expected, this area is their nest.”

In the monitor screen shows red dots gathered in several places.

“Max, come.” take Tristan to me

“Ok ok, please help Ian.” I said as I patted Ian on the shoulder and quickly followed Tristan out of the van.

An abandoned building with an inverted T shape looks towering and majestic and also plus the cloudy weather conditions make this building like a place where criminals operate.

The thick nets of Arachnor are also visible from the outside of the building.

The walls of this building are filled with graffiti and canned spray paint is scattered everywhere.

And the funny thing is, the people who made the graffiti were the first victims of Arachnor who inhabited this building.

As a result a client asked [Arcane Academy] to clean this building.

Tristan and I then looked at each other until I finally gave a small nod and we ended up unhesitatingly heading towards the building.

- Test test

Ian's voice rang out from my earbuds

“What's up?” I asked Ian.

- According to these instruments, it seems that Arachnor is focused on the fifth to eighth floors.

As I was about to reply to Ian, a young Arachnor was seen descending from the second floor onto the floor we occupied.

I unhesitatingly threw my spear towards the monster which was stuck on its head.

He then helplessly fell to the floor.

“Alright, thanks for the info.”

That way I took my spear that stuck on the monster's corpse.

then a sticky green liquid was seen when I pulled it, it seemed like using a spear was really the right choice I thought.

Long story short we are now on the stairs between the fourth and fifth floors, thanks to the information provided by Ian, we were able to easily overcome those monsters.

Now the appearance of the floor is different, the number of Arachnor nets makes it difficult for us to navigate on this floor.

- Kriek!

unexpectedly, an Arachnor saw us.

However, with my lightning hand I took the revolver and shot the Arachnor.

-DOR! DOR'S! DOR'S!

In the instant the monster became a corpse, Tristan gave me a wondering expression.

-Kriek!!

-kiekk!!

It seems like the other Arachnors are aware of our existence.

“It looks like it's time.” murmured me quietly

Hearing that, Tristan took one step back and nodded at me.

I then placed both of my hands in front of my chest and injected a crazy amount of magic and flames gradually danced on those two palms of mine.

Straightening and widening my arms to both sides, I then violently patted both of my flaring hands.

Plakk

As a result, the magnificent red jago devours the webs of Arachnor.

It didn't take long for the fire to spread on all sides, the temperature on the building rose drastically, the cries of the Arachnors also echoed in this building.

-kriekk!

-kiyaakk!

Looking at the scene in front of me, I then smiled with satisfaction and twirled my spear and grasped it tightly.

Now the real hunt has begun.
