After that night's talk, Elijah slept more soundly than usual. And when he woke up in the morning, his feelings felt much better.
Thank you, Aunt Aria!
Now Elijah feels ready to move on.
In reality, his life goes on, with or without Evan.
There is no other way but to enjoy it!
The girl is now on a bus headed for the Kalideres terminal, trying to cradle if she needs to contact Devian for help. Maybe he can find a place to stay.
Well, he's ready to move on, but not quite ready to meet Evan anytime soon. So he decided to continue his plan—searching for a new place—tinggal in the boarding house, at least for a while until his feelings completely recovered.
But asking Devian for help doesn't seem like a good idea. After all, the guy was very close to Evan.
Maybe he should also avoid those closest to Evan for a while.
Then he remembered Denta. There seems to be no other way, he thought. Then contact Denta.
The man was still lying weak when Elijah contacted him, but he forced himself to look strong in front of his mother so that the middle-aged woman would allow him to pick her up.
And…
Here he is now.
Standing elegantly at the side of his car, he smiled gently at Elijah who was walking out in the alley between the bus rows in the terminal area, dressed in all-round, thick, high-collared clothes like the first time Elijah found her. His face looked much paler than before.
Elijah could see the man pushing himself. "Lu's sick again, huh?" He asked with a worried face. Guilt instantly overwhelmed him.
Denta smiled knot. "I just miss" her god, trying hard to look cheerful.
DEG!
Elijah gulped and bowed. Mengulum. A warm feeling spread across his chest. Softer than he could have imagined.
Elijah did not dare to conclude that he might be in love. But he could not deny his interest in the man.
After all the man was as handsome as Evan.
They are really similar!
Elijah isn't sure if he'll still like him if he doesn't look like Evan.
The silence occurred after they were in the car.
Denta continued coughing as long as the driver could not hide it anymore.
"So.." Denta finally broke the silence between them. "Where are we going now?"
Elijah blinked and stuttered. "Sori," he said, bowing. "Gue doesn't really have a purpose."
Denta glanced at him with his eyebrows interlocked.
"I think I asked your anther to make a boarding nyari," continued Elijah hesitated. "But…"
"Okay, if we go to my house first!" denta. "Let's talk again!"
Elijah opened his mouth, prepared to say something, but then lost his words as Denta began to cough again.
While getting out of the car, Elijah offers his hand to Denta holding on. "Replace," he said.
Denta's smile warmed up and his gaze softened. Then he grabbed Elijah by the shoulder and led him into the house.
Denta smiled and rubbed Elijah's head.
A warm feeling spread back in Elijah's chest. Somehow the man's tenderness slashed his feelings, penetrating the recesses of his heart.
More than that, Denta always managed to bandage his wounds due to the loss of Evan.
While with Denta, Elijah did not feel too lost Evan. Maybe because he looks like Evan. Whatever it is, Elijah is in need of it for now. No matter the man was on the verge of death, Elijah felt safe being nearby. The man's touch made her feel comfortable.
So, he did not try to reject it.
The presence of the man is able to fill some of the emptiness in Elijah's heart, clumping a little dark hole that gap inside him even though still can not fulfill it.
"You've arrived?"
Elijah looked across the room and saw Denta's mother near the stove, stirring something in a steaming pot.
Smelled familiar aroma of spices typical Nusantara cuisine, home aroma that offers comfort in a tiring day, pepper, nutmeg, garlic, and, wading through the dining room that became one with the kitchen and family room.
Denta squeezed on the back of the sofa, then he coughed again.
Elijah stuttered in confusion, not knowing what to do. He scooped up the man's shoulder and pulled his head into his arms.
"It's time to take your medicine!" Ms. Denta immediately turned off the stove and rushed out of the room, then returned carrying a silver tray containing all sorts of medicine—pils, tablets, capsules— in large quantities.
Elijah gulped and was stunned. What pain is he really in? Why is the cure that much?
"Help me move this brat to his room" his mother asked after Denta finished downing all the medicine.
Elijah responded with a clumsy smile, a little distraught by his presence in the middle of the family.
Then they took Denta to his room and laid him down.
When the two women turned to get out of her room, Denta grabbed Elijah by the hand and held him back.
Elijah turned and looked down at his hand.
Denta's mother saw it too. They looked at their hands with sad faces.
Elijah glanced at the woman with a doubtful look.
But the middle-aged woman only smiled faintly and turned around, then stepped out of the room leaving them.
"You're not going anywhere, are you?" Denta asked in a raucous voice.
Elijah sighed and forced a smile. "Have a rest" he said. "Gue wants to ask permission from your mama to hitch a ride while here. You know I just wanted to find a place!"
"Good," said Denta. "Hopefully you won't be able to find a place anytime soon" he joked, smiling weakly.
Elijah chuckled thinly. "Gue stay, yes!" persuaded later.
Then Denta took off his grip.
Elijah steps out and closes Denta's room door, then returns to the kitchen.
Denta's mother is preparing the dinnerware at the table.
"Can I help you?" Elijah offered.
The woman looked and smiled. "Nothing," he said. "Sit down!" The woman pulled one of the chairs and invited Elijah. "Are you hungry?" He asked after Elijah sat down.
Elijah nodded and smiled. "I had lunch before I left. Dinner is not yet the time either" he said, glancing at the wall clock above the fireplace.
New time shows at half-five in the afternoon.
"If so I make tea" said Denta's mother, turning around, lighting the stove and cooking water.
"Aunty, I'm sorry for my arrival.again the Auntie family," Elijah said hesitantly as the woman arranged a tea set on the table in front of Elijah.
The woman just smiled. "No need to bother, Miss!" hatchlings. "I'm glad Denta has friends. It's been a long time, since he's been sick, not a single friend of his has ever been here again."
Elijah bowed grimly. Guilt returned to her. "I don't know if Denta is sick" he half-whispered.
Denta's mother turned around and moved away for a moment, turned off the stove, poured hot water from the kettle into the tea pot, then returned with the pot and placed it on the table, then sat down by Elijah's side. "Listen, Miss!" said later. "I don't care who you are, where you're from, and what brings you to Denta. But I wish you could stay longer. Denta needs you!"
Elijah stuttered and turned to the woman.
