Ch. 206 Shadow Sword College

Sudapura was the capital of the Tarumanegara kingdom when it was first established by the King Jayasingawarman in 358 AD. The word Tarumanegara comes from the word taruma dana nagara. Nagara means kingdom or state. While taruma comes from the word tarum which is the name of the river that divides western Java, namely Citarum.
It is now 602 AD Tarumanegara was led by Maharaja Kertawarman. The king ruled from 561 to 628.
Kertawarman was the eighth king of the Tarumanegara Kingdom to succeed his father, King Suryavarman who died in 561 AD.
By the time his father came to power had stood the Kingdom of Kendan. A subordinate kingdom located in Kendan, the area around Bandung and Limbangan Garut by his son-in-law named Manikmaya.
A Maharesi from the Calankayana family of South India. Previously, he had traveled, visiting several countries, such as: Gaudi (Bengal), Mahasin (Singapore), Swarnabhumi(Sumatra), Nusa Sapi or Gohnusa(Bali Island), Syangka, Yawana, China, and others. After marrying the Maharesi was rewarded by King Suryavarman, a vassal kingdom in the Kendan area (a region of Nagreg hills in Bandung Regency). By the time it was given it was complete with its people and soldiers.

Wangsakerta manuscript is a term that refers to a set of manuscripts composed by Prince Wangsakerta personally or by the Wangsakerta Committee. It was done to fulfill the request of his father (Panembahan Girilaya) to compile a script of the story of kingdoms in the archipelago.
This committee was established to hold a gotrasawala (symposium/seminar) between experts (sajarah) from all over the archipelago. The entire script took about 21 years. Completed around 1698 AD**.
