Ch. 227 Champa kingdom
After Suro disappears swallowed by a magical gate, he appears in a town called Simhapura or Tra-kieu. It is a royal city of Champa that has a fortress or city wall made of stone and has gates in four different directions.
Fort Simhapura or meaning Lion town, is located along the flow of two rivers and has a circular wall for eight miles. The Champa Kingdom is historically likely to be located around South Vietnam and central Vietnam.
To the west is adjacent to the Chen la Kingdom. Previously the Chen la kingdom was part of the Kingdom called Funan. Later on they could be independent and control all parts of the kingdom of Funan. The name Funan comes from the ancient Khmer language Phnom which means mountain.
The kings of the land called themselves "King of the Mountain" or Sailenraja or Syailendra. The title was also used for kings in Yawadwipa.
One of the dynasties who became the ruler in the ancient Mataram Kingdom. Precisely after the Sanjaya dynasty, the House of Syailendra.
Even the king of the house of Syailendra considered, if they are direct descendants of the kings in the Kingdom of Funan. They took refuge on the island of Java after the country was conquered by the Kingdom of Tchenla or Chen la. It can be marked by the nickname "King of the Mountain" or Syailendra to name the kings of their descendants.
One of the descendants of the Syailendra dynasty eventually became king of the Srivijaya Kingdom. Then led the kingdom to its golden height. They Syailendra also use the title of Maharaja, because he considers himself a conqueror of the world.
After the year 550 AD until the beginning of the ninth century, precisely in 802 AD the area was in the power of the Kingdom of Chen la or Zhenla. After the Chen la Kingdom ended, it was replaced by another kingdom called the ancient Khmer Kingdom.
It has now entered the year 603 AD, at that time the Kingdom of Champa is being led by King Chambuwarman or sometimes called Sambhuwarman or Fan-fan-tche.
Long before the Champa Kingdom stood there was another kingdom that first stood in the area. The kingdom was named Li Yie. According to historians, the Kingdom of Li Yie or Lam Ap has been established around 192 AD. According to the story Li Yie Kingdom stood up after successfully breaking away from the Han empire.
After a while appearing in the city of Champa Kingdom, namely in Simhapura, Suro tried to learn the situation to be faced. Lucky while making the magical gate of his mind was inside the royal city.
Because to enter the city the kingdom must provide identity as access to enter the city gate. The problem is not only about the identity to be used to enter the gate that Suro does not have, nor Geho the same, but because the conditions outside the gate are already quite chaotic.
Currently King Chambuwarman had surrendered to the army of darkness. Because the attack led by Eyang Sindurogo went quickly and very suddenly.
It can be done by using the magic gate that was created. The magical gate delivered the entire army he led directly to the royal palace.
The power of the invading dark forces was unstoppable by the king's guard troops. Because they cannot be resisted by the power of the king's guard. Their strength was certainly not an opponent who could keep up with an army of darkness that could not be killed.
The entire army of darkness quickly managed to take control of the royal palace. The royal family, including the king himself, managed to hold them.
Instead of taking out the entire Champa kingdom and the entire royal family, they used the power of the Champa king, King Chambuwarman.
They asked the rightful king to gather all the people. Under the pretext of giving an announcement to the entire population, if the power has been transferred to the new king, namely Eyang Sindurogo who became the leader of the dark forces.
To gather the whole community is certainly not an easy thing. Especially the entire kingdom, it must have taken a long time. For more than three weeks they continued to come to the king's city.
The legitimate royal army certainly obeys the orders of its own king. It was they who arranged and spread the order of his king to come and gather outside the royal city walls.
Not only the residents or ordinary people, but all the soldiers from several existing duchies gathered. Among them is the duchy of Indrapura or currently known as Dong Duong, Amaravati or Quang nam, Vijaya or Cha ban, Kauthara or Nha Trang. And the last is the duchy of Panduranga or in the present day has the name Phan rang, they are the only duchy troops that have not come
To be honest they were unable to understand such a suicidal decision. But they are determined to fight back.
For now the entire fortress of Simhapura city has been surrounded by all troops. Several times Raja Chambuwarman appeared in front of the public to tell if the condition was fine. The action also has the aim that the assembled troops will not break into the fortress.
Those royal families are being held in their own palaces. Since the palace was successfully controlled by the forces of Eyang Sindurogo, then that night the entire royal army was expelled out of the royal city walls.
All the royal forces that had gathered outside the walls had decided to take back the royal city that had been controlled by Eyang Sindurogo. Although at this time the king and his entire family became prisoners within the royal city. The decision of the attack will be made after the troops from the duchy of Panduranga have arrived .
The Champa army that had gathered outside the fort had taken into account the entire army that Sindurogo had brought. At the time of the attack, Sindurogo only brought ground troops. Neither the bat-men nor the dragons that used to accompany him were visible.
The ground troops that appeared suddenly and took control of the palace were no more than five hundred troops, according to the knowledge they had gathered. But those Champa troops outside the walls were a bit confused. For the army of darkness that stood guard over the wall that stretched for eight miles, was now more than five hundred men.
They thought the ground troops were wearing clothes and masks that made their appearance so scary. Information about the dark forces that control the city of the kingdom is confusing.
For all the armies that had protected the king and all his family had been cut off. The troops who were in the king's city were immediately sent out of the wall by the rightful king. They were also confused, for the inhabitants who were in the royal city were now gone.
Suro continued to investigate the conditions inside around the royal city. He then learns that the magical gate used by the dark forces is around the palace.
Suro feels there is something sinister plot being made by the dark forces. For it was a strange thing to see people and soldiers gathered outside the king's fortress. While in the king's own city there were no inhabitants left, except for some parts of the ground troops from the dark forces that were seen milling about.
Seeing that things were not right Suro immediately asked Geho the same to monitor several areas around the Kingdom city.
"Use your Maya Steps and fly around this king's city. Is there an army of darkness spreading throughout the kingdom? I feel like they're an army of darkness about to round up the entire population of the Champa kingdom, just like they did when they attacked the Mataram kingdom."
"Okay, Mr. Suro, I'll run as ordered. I will tell you his condition constantly."
The same Geho then disappears from Suro's sight.
Suro himself immediately continued his investigation inside the royal city that was inside the fortress. In accordance with Suro's conjecture, the residents inside the king's city had vanished. They were all likely to have been herded into a magical gate brought into the realm of darkness. Because every house he entered was not found there was a single resident in it.
On top of the walls surrounding the city of king Suro saw a human who had chicken-like legs. They are the forces of darkness as Suro had seen in other realms.
Not long after that Geho similarly sent his inner voice to Suro. He had already finished circling the area around the royal city.
'Lord Suro there are no armies of darkness around the royal city. The servant saw neither the bat-men nor the flying dragons. It is precisely I see people continue to flock to the city of the kingdom. Presumably they were about to gather outside the fortress of the royal city.
"I know now what's planned. They are gathering the entire kingdom. They took advantage of the power of the rightful king to make it easier for their work to gather as many humans as possible in a relatively short time."
"I must stop this massacre. Geho is the same back to my side! This time we will go on a rampage destroying all the forces of darkness that have taken control of the Champa kingdom!"
