76. Fifth wave
"That's it..." Mark pulled his rifle, "Maybe I'll intervene from now on..."
Mark Wei is an SS-ranked Hunter with Assassin Marksman type, capable of moving quickly with a rifle in his hand. His movements were also quite silent, so he could be called an Assassin even though he was actually a Marksman.
He filled his rifle with a box of bullets and aimed forward, then saw a horde of adult-sized monkeys approaching.
"Here you go..." Mark dropped his rifle and pulled out a grenade, "Wear this is enough..." He pulled the lever and threw it forward and fell among the monkeys.
After the smoke from the rest of the explosion disappeared little by little, he raised his rifle up and exclaimed, "Team, attack!"
The Hunters behind him shouted and moved forward while pulling their respective weapons and started fighting.
While Mark, he stood in a standby position, with next to him was a woman carrying a long-barreled rifle.
"Sir Mark, are the Monsters you're currently counting weakly?" Ask Mark the woman.
Mark closed his eyes and replied, "There are no weak monsters, they are strong, only they are too strong."
The woman is Jessica Celia, RedWhite's flagship Sniper and she asked to come down again in the fight, after previously she helped an S rank Hunter from FreedomLight fight in the fourth wave yesterday.
"Sir Mark, do you know a Sniper named Jenny Anderless?" ask Jessica again.
Mark nodded, "Yes, that woman is the best Sniper in StarSam, probably the world, because until now, the record of killing three Monsters with one shot by her no one can break it."
Jenny Anderless is the strongest Sniper in the world, and she is the world record holder as the only Sniper capable of killing three Monsters in one shot and it happened about twenty-five years ago, before he became an SS rank Hunter because of his achievements.
"Why are you asking? Are you one of his fans?" Mark asked as he opened his eyes and looked ahead.
"Yes, I'm one of his fans, because I'm a Sniper, there's no way I don't know Jenny Anderless' name..." Jessica smiled broadly.
"Well, if it's all over, I'll take you to meet him." Mark chuckled slightly, "You guys, you just ask for some knowledge..."
The two chuckled, before screams rang out and made the two take up their respective weapons then put up their positions.
"Jess?"
"Good sir..."
For Jessica, if Jess's name has been called, then that's the time for her to get serious straight away. He walked backwards, took some distance from Mark and then put his position up.
While Mark, he pulled his rifle again then ran forward, with one hand ready to take out another grenade.
Jessica squatted down slightly and pointed her long barrel gun forward then took aim, with her right forearm ready to pull the trigger whenever she saw a crack.
"Jessica, keep your position here, while I'm going forward to help Mark.." an old man came forward while pulling his sword, and Jessica recognized him.
The old man was Vano the Knight of Lightning who was touted a generation with Stars, and he had an S rank. The firearm he had was a sharp two-sided sword whose blade could turn red and turn hot.
"Well, Vano's grandfather." Jessica replied then aiming forward, "Be careful, cake..."
"OK..." Vano drew out his sword and ran forward, approaching the Monsters who were fighting against the Hunters.
Jessica narrowed her eyes then pulled the trigger and fired a single bullet that pierced the forehead of one Monster. He shot forward and fired his shot.
In a short time, a combination of Mark, Vano, Jessica, and the other Hunters was able to clear the Monsters, before the sound of snake hiss could be heard from a distance.
The Hunters moved backwards away from where they were before, while Mark and Vano moved back slowly, while confirming the situation.
"Sir Vano, what do you think?" mark asked, "Is the commander of the army or Lord direct?"
Vano closed his eyes, "I don't know, my experience with Monsters began to dull as I grew older..."
Mark nodded in understanding, the older a person was the more his memory faded.
The two of them stood staring blankly ahead, until a moment later, came a snake that had a very large body.
Vano and Mark were surprised to see the snake coming. They immediately prepared themselves as the snake began to approach them.
"Mark, are you sure you can fight that snake with just a rifle and a grenade?" ask Vano.
Mark hesitated. "Actually I'm a bit doubtful if only the two of us deal with it."
Shortly thereafter, Jessica came in with a long-barreled rifle.
"What's the situation?" ask Jessica.
"As you can see, there's a huge snake out front" Mark replied.
Jessica looked at the snake. Then he looked at Mark and asked "How do we deal with the snake? Do you have a plan?"
"Unfortunately there is no plan..." Vano stroked his chin while thinking for a moment, "Is it possible that we should ask Tom?" connect Vano.
"May.." Mark pulled out his phone, and called Tom.
C-140 Hercules...
Tom put his phone on the table and pressed a button, "Everything, there's a call from Mark..."
On the control room screen, a call made by Mark appeared, and Tom asked, "How? Any issues?"
"Ah, there is a problem. You can see it on camera." Answer Mark.
Tom pressed one more button and the screen showed a video recorded by the plane's camera, then he saw one by one the video footage.
Her gaze stopped on one of the videos, and her eyes widened looking at the video piece.
"I think we have to pull back the troops to reset the strategy" said Bintang, "That monster is not an enemy Mark can face alone." he continued.
Everyone in the room nodded in agreement with the Star.
"The size of the snake is very difficult to estimate, it may need help from the air to be able to calculate it" said Yuuki, "It could be more than fifty meters in size and have more power than even the SS Hunter rank."
The star that heard him was confident in his memory, that the Monster was a Serpent Lord, who was one of the five strongest Lords and one of the subordinates that the Black Emperor trusted the most.
"If that were true, maybe we would have difficulty in eliminating the snake even though we are all united against it" said Vigo.
Everyone was silent at Vigo's words, before Mark shouted "I closed the call! I'll be back in a minute!" and the call ended.
Tom glanced at the others and gave a stern command, "Everything, prepare all your weapons and all the defenses of the plane! You guys go down first, I'll let the others know and catch up soon! Implement immediately!"
