Chapter 2 Want to Dance With Me?

Clara who asked the Duke a question was only answered with a long silence by the Duke until finally the duke nodded his head without a second thought it made Clara quite embarrassed to feel like ordering crate and bury himself, as he promises to protect the antagonist he likes without anyone knowing he's defending him.

"Thank you for standing up for me, but are you okay? Your face is quite red,"

"You're not sick, are you?" ask the duke who was still in a cold tone

With a reddened face and quite embarrassed he saluted without a word and then left the duke alone in the garden. The Duke felt that the girl he had just met was a very strange girl because she ran away with just a question that worried him.

"Some strange and mysterious girl,"

"I hope we meet again lady" muttered the Duke, who saw the girl run away like a little squirrel

"When do you want to get there? The dance is about to start? And can you not smile Dain? It's been kind of creepy since the last time you cried out of heartbreak for Miss Grace who's married to Mr. Ian,"

"After that you go to war madly with your prince blindly finish off the enemy because heartache can not get the girl of dreams," said the man with a grin while justifying his glasses

"You're a pretty brave subordinate and I didn't go to war out of heartbreak, but it's all because I'm the only unmarried one among the five of us and they're worried about going to war so I'm taking on that role,"

"And I didn't expect that people would talk badly about me behind my back except my four friends but it turned out that there was also a girl standing up for me and that girl got quite the attention of me, too," said the Duke with a thin smile then walked into the party room at the event while the bespectacled man beside him could only be confused and goosebumps with his master who suddenly behaved like that.

At the dance Clara finally arrived at the place where the party hall was held with breath that was stingy due to fatigue had to run from the park to the place with a fairly heavy and thick dress.

"Finally I can get to this party place" murmured Clara with a forced smile as everyone in sight would notice her

The king soon entered the ballroom, followed by the crown prince, the holy maiden and the five dukes who entered the room. Upon arriving the king sat on the banquet chair, followed by the four dukes who immediately went to the corner of the room because they did not like to be the center of attention because there was already a main character present for winning the war.

Clara who could see her favorite character on stage felt a little happy and grateful because she could clearly see the male figure on the stage standing there. Clara knew that the man would definitely join the other Duke in the corner of the room because they did not like the excessive attention. Clara certainly knew the information very clearly because she had read all the contents of the novel written by her old friend.

Not long after the party began after the opening speech of the king was over, everyone was looking for their dance partner to dance to, when the crown prince had walked towards the middle of the party with the holy maiden then everyone could instantly dance. Clara noticed clearly the dance and the pair were so mismatched in the middle of the dance hall, indeed it was probably the aura of the lead that she read.

"Does this lovely lady want to dance with me?"

Clara was silent for a moment and tried to process who the male figure in front of her, because she did not believe the man who asked her to dance suddenly like this.

"Ummm... Your Highness the Duke are you not wrong people?" clara asked in a soft voice and bowed her head to the male figure that was in front of her at this moment

The duke could only smile at Clara who looked like a shy little squirrel without caring if everyone looked with a frightened look, because the smile shown looks creepy from the point of view of the guests who pay attention, while from the point of view Clara that the current Duke may be the wrong person to be invited to dance, while from the point of view of the guests, but he was currently just silent and not talking.

"Miss can't you turn me down in public, can you?"

"Miss knows this may be a good opportunity for you to receive as a tribute from the person you defend in the park," Whispered the Duke to Clara's ears making her face red, when he realized that his face was hot at once Clara calmed down by taking a deep breath because she was currently the center of attention of the gazes of the nobles who were curious about what a Duke had to do with a small noble which almost never saw his face

After being quite calm, Clara accepted the danced offer from the Duke. All the nobles instantly made the girl the topic of conversation from a girl who was forced by a tyrant to dance to a Duke who would plan evil things for the girl he was asked to dance with, although they were all whispering, their voices could not be said to be whispering because they were heard to Clara's ears.

"Looky lady, don't you enjoy dancing with me?" said the Duke with a smile that looked a little soft

"Your Highness Duke, it's not like that I just didn't think you'd dance with me,"

"I think you're going to dance with the holy girl who has helped this country" said Clara, still with her head bowed and sluggish

"You should know that not all witches are allowed to approach a holy girl including me because my holy power and magic have a slight difference,"

"But you are calm not that I made this beautiful lady a substitute" the Duke said only in response to a nod by Clara

Not long after the first one was over, Clara and Duke saluted each other and then parted ways. Some noble girls then immediately came to him out of curiosity what the Duke had done to the girl.

"Do you not have manners as a noble? Come in droves to a girl who just wanted to rest,"
