"Mas.." Salwa's voice raspy as she received a phone call from her husband. Sean was only able to contact Salwa after nearly fifteen hours of their separation. Sean is currently waiting for the departure of his plane to continue the flight to the destination country.
"Did you disturb your sleep?" Sean leaned his back on the waiting chair alone. They sit far away from others to maintain privacy.
Salwa hurriedly shook her head. Of course he felt unperturbed, even Salwa immediately raised the call Sean in the first second his phone rang because from earlier he just stared at his smartphone hoping there was a call from her husband. And when his phone vibrates without waiting for long he immediately shifts the green icon to answer it.
"No, you're not at all intrusive" he said in earnest.
"What time is it, haven't you slept?" Salwa stared at the wall clock that was attached to the door, it was almost one in the morning, but Salwa did not feel sleepy either.
"Nearly one o'clock in the evening, have you arrived?" Salwa stuck her phone to her ear while lying on her side with her hands tightly hugging the bolster.
"Not yet, soon there will be flights to get to the destination country. Go to sleep, it's late. You need to rest a lot." Sean tried to advise his wife.
If indeed Salwa is currently pregnant with her child, the woman must be well rested because her very young pregnancy is very prone to miscarriage. Moreover, Dr. Alan said that Salwa's uterus is still weak if it has to hold the fetus that will try to grow in it.
"I'll sleep after this." Salwa bit her lower lip, and the woman's voice rattled in Sean's ear, causing her husband to change his calling from a voice call to a video call.
In the dim light of his bedroom sleep lamp, Sean could see Salwa lying on his side with her eyes slightly puffy. Sean reviews the smile by pulling both ends of his lips to look at his wife's face, even though Salwa had wiped her tears away, Sean could tell that she was crying.
"What's wrong?" ask Sean then.
Salwa shook her head, she smiled bitterly. I don't know if she had just been left alone for a day and slept alone, but Salwa already missed her husband so much. What if Sean was gone for a week, or a month, whether he would cry every night.
Salwa also did not understand why she became this crybaby. Though he had been separated from Sean for so long and it did not feel as bad as this. Maybe because their feelings are too deep so that creating a sense of mutual desire and longing for each other so much makes both Sean and Salwa can not be separated for too long.
"Sleep, I won't hang up until you fall asleep" Sean said.
Salwa nodded, she tried to close her eyes by hugging her roll tighter and tighter. Imagine if her husband was next to her at this time while hugging her as usual.
.....
Tock-a-tock
The sound of knocking on the door woke Salwa to sleep. He slept late last night until he closed his eyes after the morning prayers.
"Madam, it's time for breakfast," the servant's voice rang out loud after he finished knocking on the door. With heavy eyes Salwa got off the bed and stepped to open the door of her room. Bi Sri and another housekeeper brought the food that had been served on the tray. Salwa scrunched her forehead to see so much food that the waiter brought her when she was alone.
"Bik, who's that much food for?" asked Salwa who was still staring behind the door to see the servants arranging food on the table in her room.
Salwa's mouth was gaping, she still could not believe, how Sean could ask Bi Sri to prepare so much food just for himself, he said, what all this time Sean felt Salwa was too thin so that at this time he had to get more nutritional intake in order to gain weight.
Salwa looked at her reflection in the mirror, she was watching herself from top to bottom, it seemed like her body was mediocre. Instead Salwa felt her body more contained than when she first set foot in Sean's house.
"Then excuse us madam" said Bi Sri as she passed from Salwa's room after she finished her work. Salwa sits at the table while looking at a variety of healthy menus that are more in the form of vegetables and fruit, not to forget also with a glass of white milk that is ready to be sipped.
Salwa moved the various food menus a little from each menu to the top of the plate. He could not afford to eat that much, so he decided to take a little from each menu and the rest he could give to the servants.
A moment before his hand put food in his mouth, his phone rang. Salwa hurriedly shifted the green icon to answer a video call that turned out to be from her husband.
"Honey..," Sean's voice sounded heavy. Maybe her husband was exhausted from being on the trip for too long. It could be seen from the look on his lethargic face with slightly red eyes.
Salwa commented on the happy smile of being able to see her husband again. Looks excessive indeed, but I don't know the more the day the feeling unfortunately feels increasing.
"How's your breakfast?" asked Sean who was currently lying in the middle of the dim lights of the hotel room. The time difference between Indonesia and Canada is eleven hours faster, so it is currently where Sean is entering the night time.
"Why did you ask Bik Sri to cook this much for me?" Sean chuckled, knowing that his wife would definitely protest with the amount of food served to him. Sean just thought, if Salwa is pregnant, she must have enough nutrients for the needs of the body and fetus. She does not want her child to be born with less weight because not enough nutrients are met during the womb. Even Sean also asked Bik Sri to make Salwa a glass of milk pregnant women without the knowledge of his wife.
"Mas just wants you to eat healthy food, spend it?" sean replied with a smile.
"What, you think I'm starving? Even all this food can be enjoyed by three people at once, I am hungry, but not as hungry," said Salwa a little upset, indeed he coolies, he was, even a rude worker porters seemed unable to spend all the food that was currently in front of him.
"Alright, eat as much as you can. I'll keep you eating." Sean went from his sleep to the table where food was available. He put his phone on the table with an lanscape position while he prepared to eat his food. They also eat together while chatting happily with different places and times.
.....
Salwa was in a hurry when classes were about to start in five minutes, and she had just entered the main gate of the campus. He increased the running tempo as fast as he could so as not to be late.
BUGGGS...
"Sorry," said Salwa, who accidentally hit someone. He crouched down to pick up the books of the person who was in a mess because of his actions.
"Salwa.." the voice, a familiar voice to him, called his name. Salwa turned her face to look at the face of the person she had hit.
"Varo's..."
