Chapter 53. Commander, don't like me!
Xavier did not answer. He turned his eyes in any direction. His face appeared to bring out a wrinkle that was getting deeper and deeper.
“You don't have to give me the answer. Give that answer to yourself. But if I could tell you, I'm sure Graciella has gone through so much hardship when she married Adrean Han. Then, if you just want to marry her because like I said earlier, you better not marry her. Just release him from the torment of Adrean.” It was Stevan's advice that led Xavier to move his gaze back toward Stevan. “Ah! it's night, I'm sleepy, can I stay at your house, okay? I'll sleep in a regular room! you sleep! don't you have to leave tomorrow? I stay yes!" Stevan got up and yawned slightly leaving Xavier who was just sitting still.
Xavier walked out of his study after quite a while of thought. Unfortunately, the longer he can't find the answer to Stevan's questions that have haunted him.
But just as he wanted to step outside he saw Rin who appeared to be standing near the glass door leading to the back garden. He scrunched his forehead. For what Rin night-night stands there, so he decides to walk towards Rin.
Xavier stood staring at the scene he could see from behind the glass. She saw Graciella sitting on a park bench overlooking the pool.
Graciella seemed to be enjoying her own time gazing towards the quiet pool. The reflection of the light from the sides of the swimming pool makes the atmosphere beautiful. Not to mention the moon looks so round illuminating the night in the garden is quite beautifully arranged even though it is enclosed by a high wall.
Xavier looked at the face of the woman who was struck by the shadow of the water. The more beautiful even though she had already wiped all her makeup off. She subconsciously raised the corner of her lips when she saw Graciella occasionally dunking her unharmed foot into the water.
"Master," said Rin who had just seen the arrival of Xavier. Xavier issued a gesture so Rin wouldn't have to tell Graciella about her whereabouts. He still wanted to see the innocent behavior of Graciella. "Get me a blanket," Xavier ordered when he saw Graciella begin to rub both her upper arms.
Rin immediately does Xavier's request, before long he brings a small blanket that Xavier immediately brings for Graciella.
Graciella was startled when suddenly Xavier instantly enveloped herself from behind.
"Not slept?" tanya Xavier sat next to Graciella.
"Clearly cannot sleep. Maybe because in a new place." Graciella glanced towards the flat-faced man. He followed Graciella who was staring towards the pond. I don't know how long he's never sat by this pool again.
"Don't take too long, you'll get the flu." Xavier said. Graciella simply smiled and silence immediately accompanied the two of them.
Graciella pulled the blanket tighter covering her body. The night air is getting cold. The wind was no longer as easy as slowly roaring louder. But the moon above the night sky was still brilliant.
"If you can't stand it, it's better to go back inside" Xavier said, looking at what Gracilella was doing.
"I still want to see the moon, I haven't seen it in a long time. You know, when I was a kid, I lived in an orphanage. Then there was a group of students who made a drama offering for us. I remember that story about 'The butterfly lover'. Yeah, I know it's a pretty weird performance for a kid no older than twelve." Graciella's story recalls her past. Seeing the flowers reminded her that she had never seen the beauty of butterflies in a long time. "Have you ever seen or known about that story?"
Xavier was silent for a moment trying to remember. It never seems, he just shook his head slowly.
"That's a pretty good and famous ancient story. About Zhu Ying Tai, a girl who disguised herself as a man just so she could learn. At that time he met a man named, Liang Shan Bo, and became a sidekick. Ying Tai then fell in love with Shan Bo. But since Shan Bo did not know Ying Tai was a woman, he only considered her a friend. Then Ying Tai turned out to be betrothed to an official in his area. Ying Tai then admitted that she was a woman, and unexpectedly, they had the same feelings and promised that if they died they would be buried in the same burrow. Graciella slowly told me as if she was telling a story to a child.
"Yes! I still think the same as when I first found out about that story. Why should there be love if they must die, what is death that unites them? does it have to be that way to be an eternal love story? the more I grow up, the more confused I get, why do famous romantic stories have to end in death? Romeo and Juliet, Cleopatra and Marc Anthony, Laila and Majaun, right? isn't it better that they end happily in life together?" greciella said her thoughts.
Xavier did not answer immediately, he saw the face of Graciella who seemed to demand an answer.
"It's just an exaggerated love story. They just want to portray that even death is not an obstacle to love. That's not the reality." Xavier raised the corner of his lips. He already felt it.
"really? what do you think of love?" Graciella looked at the man who was just staring straight ahead. His decisiveness even looks like this moment.
"Complicated, love is complicated. But for sure, if I love someone I would want to protect her from everything so she stays happy." Xavier looked into Graciella's eyes. Xavier raised his eyes. Instantly aware that unbeknownst to him, he wanted to protect the woman who was looking at him with a thin and sweet smile. I didn't want that smile to disappear from his face.
"That sounds wonderful. The woman you love will be very lucky." Graciella threw her gaze back at the pool.
"If you feel that way. Let me protect you."
Graciella reflexively stared at Xavier. Analyzing Xavier's confident face. A warm feeling spread out between the cold air around him. Had Xavier come 3 years ago before Graciella tied up with Adrean. Maybe he could take this guy well. But ....
"I thank you for your kindness. But, Commander, please don't like me." Graciella bit her lip after saying that.
"Why do you keep rejecting me?" xavier said with a wrinkled face. Just now she found out how she felt about Graciella but again this woman rejected her.
"If I accept you, how is it different from my husband? I'm just a woman who has nothing. Until now, all I had was self-esteem. If I accept you, in the eyes of others then I will have no more self-respect."
"Then I will try my best to have you part with your husband. Promise to take me after." Xavier stared intently at Graciella. She even held onto both of Graciella's upper arms, slightly inviting her small body as if to affirm what she was saying.
Graciella only saw her reflection from Xavier's bead. He nodded and bit his lips even harder.
"Graciella, promise me!" sue Xavier again.
Graciella nodded slowly. Xavier saw it finally felt quite relieved. He instantly pulled Graciella's body in his arms. I don't know why it feels so happy just because of a little promise.
"I'm really going to do everything you can to get away from Adrean! promise me, whatever, whoever tries to separate us. You can't give up!" Whisper Xavier with an increasingly tight hug.
Graciella nodded back. Although he does not know exactly how Xavier can make him part with Adrean, but Xavier's warm embrace is really seductive.
