The Obsolete Bond

The Obsolete Bond
The Bitter Truth

"I want a divorce from Dito, Ma." Sarah said slowly.

Mama and her sister were shocked to hear the words that came from Sarah's mouth. They wonder why Sarah made this decision?

"What's the matter, Nduk? You said Mama everything's fine. How come you suddenly want to split up with Dito?" Ask the confused mother.

"It's all a lie, Ma. I'm covering up what really happened because I don't want to make Mom and Dito's parents think." Sarah said softly.

"What's really going on, Ma'am?" Baim asked confusedly.

"Dito cheated. One month into our marriage, Dito got married for the second time. With her affair which is now her second wife." Sarah finally revealed the bitter reality that she had been quieting.

Sarah uncovers a story about the fate of her unfortunate marriage. Where he finds out Dito cheated before their marriage and the woman is pregnant with Dito's child. Every word and every story was painfully told by Sarah. How much he was hurt by that great betrayal but Dito's change was the most painful thing for him.

Tears poured back into Sarah's eyes. Although he has repeatedly reminded himself that the price of a Dito is not worth anything in his life, but still telling this story is like reopening his wounds. Perhaps it was because the wound had not completely healed and was even still gaping. Leaving a wide hole in Sarah's heart.

Sarah's mother was shocked to hear of her daughter's fate. Never did he imagine that the daughter he raised and guarded wholeheartedly would be destroyed by the man he had believed to protect his daughter. The young man, Dito, who has always seemed polite to him for the past 10 years turned out to be the most painful thorn in his daughter's marriage.

Cry spilled. Mama Sarah feels guilty for having let her little daughter languish alone on people's land. Far from its parent wing. And not even in the same boat as her chosen husband.

While Baim the younger brother looked very angry to hear his beloved brother being treated like this. His eyes seemed to be glittering as the flames of anger had engulfed his senses. His fists clenched with anger.

"Why don't you ever tell me anything about Mama, Nduk? How can you be strong if you're all alone?" Mama Sarah hugged her daughter and stroked her hair.

Sarah could only shut up. There was nothing else he could do but shut up. Everything he went through drained his energy like an empty bottle. What makes Sarah even more hurt is to see the tears of her mother who fell crying over the misfortune of her fate.

"Damn it! Wong lanang is crazy! Dare he rich giniin you Ma'am?! I'll teach him a lesson!" Baim Beringas. He did not accept the heartless treatment of his former brother-in-law.

Baim rushes to retrieve his helmet, intending to catch up with Dito who he thinks is at his parents' house.

"Where are you going, Dek?" Ask Sarah.

"I want to teach a lesson to wong lanangan jerk that Ma'am! That jerk was at his parents' house, right?!" Excited Baim emotion.

"Ga is no use Im. Dito until now still in Ambon." Said Sarah.

"Ah shit!" Baim growled while slamming his helmet.

"What are you, Nduk? When they found out about their son like this?" Ask Mama Sarah.

Sarah shook. My mother and sister were shocked.

"Well, Daddy Dito knows nothing about this, Ma." Said Sarah lirih.

"We're there now, Nduk. They should know what his son's been doing to you all this time."

...****************...

Telling her two in-laws about her son's rot is the hardest thing for Sarah. Because he was well aware of how his two in-laws upheld morals and norms. How they boast of the results of their upbringing that seem to be in Dito's speech and behavior that is so polite. Doing this is tantamount to smearing their faces with charcoal.

"What do you mean, Nduk? Dito has a wife of two how?" Asked Sarah's mother-in-law, she did not seem to believe what she was hearing.

Mama Dito's hand trembled holding the photos Sarah showed. The wedding photos of Dito and Anggi, the family photos of Dito, Anggi, and Deo, as well as other evidence that he can collect. Sarah wanted to show that what she revealed was truth and not falsehood. Sarah does not want to be labeled a liar by those she cares about.

"Sorry, Ma, Pa, it's really hard for Sarag to tell this to Mama and Papa. But Sarah also can't afford to live with Dito." Said Sarah.

"But yesterday when Mama and Papa were there, you guys were fine, Nduk. When did all this happen?" Ask Mom Dito.

"That's all a charade, Ma. I'm the same Dito lied as if we were a romantic couple in front of Mama Papa. In fact, I haven't had a room with Dito in nearly a year. Because Dito always preferred Anggi over me." Sarah Obviously.

The question in her mother-in-law's head was answered. The reason why Sarah and Dito haven't had children yet and why the two of them have always avoided discussing it. Because Dito and Sarah themselves have not lived as husband and wife for a long time.

"Why can Dito do it all, Pa? Why would he be ashamed of us rich gini?" Mama Dito cried disappointed with her son's actions.

Then suddenly, Sarah's father-in-law sat on his knees in front of him. Sarah was shocked to see him and prevented her father-in-law from doing the deed. But the man shook Sarah's hand.

"Belvin, Nduk. Let Papa apologize to you. Sorry Papa for failing to educate Dito, Nduk. Sorry Papa for failing to raise Dito as a real man in charge. Papa has failed to be a good father, Nduk. Sorry Papa." Papa Dito apologized to Sarah solemnly.

Sarah's heart was sliced by the sight before her. He was not a cruel man who deliberately made his two in-laws kneel in front of him. Truly he did not want to incise this wound in the hearts of people as old as them. Dito is a real jerk. Doesn't he realize this much as a result of his actions so far? Her parents had to lose their self-esteem and now continue to question the value they instilled in their children.

Sarah sat on her knees before her father-in-law and clasped her hands gently. Her father-in-law raised his bowed face and looked at Sarah. The wrinkled face looked tired and very disappointed. Sarah hugged her father-in-law. However, Sarah also has a share in the mess of their relationship. Because it was Sarah who forced Dito to marry Anggi and it resulted in all this.

"Udah, Dad. Papa don't apologize to me. It's not Papa's fault. Papa don't do this, I can't see Papa like this. Let Dito be happy with his choice of life and me with my own life, Pa. I beg. Stop beating yourself up." Papa." Pinta Sarah is serious.

Both of Dito's parents just bowed quietly in shame. Then Mama Dito lifted her head and watched Sarah. Sarah's stomach looked enlarged.

"Are you pregnant, Nduk?" Ask her mother as if she does not believe it.

Sarah is weak.

"Dito can't divorce you so, Nduk. You're pregnant with her son." Said Mama Dito still trying to unite his son.

Sarah smiled bitterly.

"Dito didn't want to admit my son as his son, Ma. Dito thinks I'm pregnant with the man he accuses of being my mistress. That man was just my best friend, Ma."

Dito's parents' hearts are divided into dilemmas. On one hand, their dream of having grandchildren was finally realized. But on the other hand, the marriage of the parents of the child in Sarah's stomach had even ended before she was born. And Mama Dito wasn't up to the heart to prevent Sarah from separating from Dito. Because it's the same as putting Sarah back in the shackles that tormented her life.

Sarah seemed to understand the anxiety of her mother-in-law.

"Mom don't worry, even if I'm not the same Dito, this child will forever remain a grandson of Mama."

Both of Dito's parents promised to solve all of Dito and Sarah's problems. Including relieving Sarah of a relationship that hurts the gospel. Until Sarah came home, only one sentence was repeated by her mother-in-law.

"I'm sorry, Nduk."
