THE TEARS OF KUMARI KANDAM

THE TEARS OF KUMARI KANDAM
CHAPTRE 97

The Chief Investigator and Sayee immediately stepped up from their seats and bowed in greeting to Braheim who had just entered the interrogation room with Haala. Braheim asked the Chief Investigator not to pay any heed to him, and the interrogation resumed. Judging from the large amount of wax left on the table, the interrogation had obviously been going on a long time. But somehow the Chief Investigator's interrogation report paper is still blank.

"Please continue."

Sayee nodded in response to the Chief Investigator. "Today's events have happened, a long time ago. A dagger stuck in the heart of our Leader's successor at a very small age. And servant, he was the first to see the terrible sight."

Bheim clasped Haala's hand, making Haala finally stop squeezing her own clothes.

"What's the reason they did that?"

"Nobody knows the exact reason. To this day, we only suspect. But that gaze, I remember very well their gaze that day. It was an unnatural look of mourning" Sayee replied.

"You mean mourning the leader of the wandering tribe? Didn't you say before that the tradition was so? When the successor of the wandering tribe leader is born he will pass on his power and then his eternal life will end."

"really. But only if they leave with a goodbye. Because their trust is the most anticipated."

The Chief Investigator leaned against the back of the chair, digesting Sayee's increasingly complicated words as the minutes grew.

"Amanah is like a gift to us. Because through that trust, one of our requests will be granted."

"I don't understand. Can you say it in an easier language?"

Sayee was silent, not to obey the Chief Investigator but to remember more deeply. "His mother, after successfully teaching her successors how to control power, our Leader will fall ill. That's when he will give you trust. Usually the trust is related to maintaining ancestral traditions ...."

The Chief Investigator nodded, began to catch Sayee's words, and began to move the questioner.

" ... Whoever carries out the trust, then one request will be granted. And that really happened shortly after our Leader passed away" Sayee said.

"So they did it out of anger not having time to make a wish?"

"Eitherway. It could also be because it cannot give rise to the perfect late Leader. Is correct. The servant who has lived for four generations agrees. He is indeed perfect in every aspect, very far compared to our previous Leader."

The Chief Investigator nodded. "I'm beginning to understand why they attacked. So what will happen to them?"

"Everything that can happen to a pet who's after his master's plate?"

The movements of the Chief Investigator's pen came to a halt, not because of the difficulty of re-digesting what Sayee said. Quite the contrary, understand very well the meaning of Sayee's words. Gradually, Sayee's cries began to fill the narrow room. Nothing will be gained from tear-coloured interrogations. Bheim was already very experienced with that, and had the Chief Investigator continue his interrogation the next day.

CLAMPS

Haala looked at the door of the interrogation room for a long time, until Bheim again clasped her hand and told her to let Sayee calm down. Haala agreed, and passed after replying to Braheim's hand. Meanwhile, in the interrogation room, Sayee had difficulty calming down. Because other memories he did not provoke came to the surface, one by one.

*FLASHBACK ON*

"Sayee, I feel like the day's events are going to happen again."

"Maybe what do you mean?"

Aryesh turned around, nodding at Sayee.

"Oh my God." Sayee started crying.

"We need to be ready, Sayee. Just like that day, only we and the Leader will be left."

Sayee shook her head, her crying became more and more. "Hamba couldn't see it, Vice-Leader. How can I see all that again? Better to be blind."

"But that's their choice, Sayee."

Sayee moved from her crisps. "There's no way to save them, Vice-Leader? There's gotta be, right? All problems are created with one way to-"

"Will the light from two people be enough to illuminate hundreds of people?" aryesh sela. "I'll monitor them a little more. I hope it's just my feelings. Go, Sayee."

"How come maybe ha--"

*FLASHBACK OFF*

"Please forgive me, Vice-Leader. For God's sake I can't see that day repeat itself." Sayee pulled out her dagger.

...•▪•▪•▪•▪•...

The Chief Investigator came out of Braheim's study with a face full of question marks. That's vivid. Whatever concerns the nomadic tribes is indeed very complicated, beyond the conflict between Kumari Kandam and the counter-fort. The Chief Investigator rushed back to the southeastern palace*, to momentarily cool the head. But on the way, the Minister of Defense, Ghanzafer El-Amin, suddenly appeared and forced him to slow down.

The southeastern palace* is often called the queen's palace because the whole daily duties of the queen take place here. In addition, the southeastern palace is also the residence of people with high status such as the king's adviser, minister, war commander, chief investigator, as well as guests from outside Kumari Kandam.

"You look fucked up."

"Because everything is fucked up." The Chief Investigator received a cigar from Ghanzafer.

"Share with me."

The Chief Investigator brought the cigar closer to the match Ghanzafer had just ignited. "This is not something that can be shared with just anyone because the impact is the same as provoking a blaze with Aasaan*."

Aasaan*flammable tree sap.

"Well, that's a very bad parable. Then don't hesitate to ask me for help if you're in trouble one day. You know I already think of you as my own brother, don't you?"

The Chief Investigator turned to Ghanzafer. "I think I need that help right now."

"Oh, really? Then quickly tell me. I'll do everything I can."

"You have a friend a Mausam*, don't you? How old is he now?"

Mausam* is a weather and season controller.

"Why all of a sudden?" Ghanzafer turned around to throw a question.

"I'm thinking about Sayee's age. He said he had lived for four generations. I was thinking maybe your Mausam friend was the same age as him. Because the last time he saw her at the festival last year, he didn't age at all. If it proves they're the same age, it means your friend also lives in the time Sayee told me, and I can prove it's true not what she said."

"so apparently. I also don't know how old my friend is. How about I just walk you to ask her directly?"

The Chief Investigator sipped his cigar quickly. "Is it no problem?"

"Even if it's gonna be a problem, I told you I'd help you, right? So let's hurry." Ghanzafer embraces the Chief Investigator. "But shouldn't I know the results of the interrogation? I mean, just in case my friend asks. Yes, even though he was quiet but not infrequently his curiosity was quite difficult for me."

"so. Yeah, alright. I'll tell you on my way."

The Chief Investigator shared the results of his interrogation with Sayee. The man who likes to wear white skullcap did not realize at all if his actions today will make many innocent victims fall later. Indeed, the Chief Investigator also considers Ghanzafer El-Amin like his own brother. Truly a sibling in the truest sense.

The two arrived at a cottage by the lake. Ghanzafer immediately introduced the Chief Investigator to his friend who was a Mausam, explained the meaning of his arrival, and gave time for them to speak with one eye. While Ghanzafer himself, sitting by the lake, sucked his cigar while thinking, If the wandering tribe alone considers Devraaj Narvinder as a threat, then why not the others?

"Who really got lost here?" ghanzafer. "Whoever is that definitely not me." Ghanzafer coded his subordinates to get close.

"Give me the commandment, my lord." A man stood beside Ghanzafer.

"Find the hiding place of the wandering tribe. I heard they were around the Kumari Kingdom of Kandam, so focus the search there. Search all residents' homes and houses. Search all the places and find at least one of them."

"As per your orders, My Lord."

"Then tell them that I, Ghanzafer El-Amin, am on their side and ready to help them succeed in their mission of eliminating the threat."

Ghanzafer's grin became more visible as the thick puff of the cigar disappeared in the wind.

"As per your orders, My Lord."
