Trapped in the Love of Stepchildren
Chapter 8's

Laura sat in the living room, holding a cup of coffee that was already cold. His mind floated on what he had just discovered. She already knew the truth about her relationship with her husband's stepson, Daniel. At this moment, Laura felt extremely hurt and confused.

Laura took a deep breath and tried to muster up the courage to face Daniel. He has to decide what to do next.

Suddenly the door opened, and Emma, his best friend, entered the room. She smiled widely when she saw Laura, but then her expression turned to worry when she saw Laura's face that looked agitated.

"What's going on, Laura? Are you all right?" ask Emma.

Laura nodded, "Yes, I'm fine, just a little stressed."

Emma approached Laura and sat next to her on the sofa. She grabbed Laura's hand and said, "You know that you can always count on me to help reduce your stress, Laura. What can I do to help you?"

Laura felt tears drip from her eyes as she lifted her head and looked out the window.

"I've found something surprising, Emma,” she said in a soft voice.

"What's wrong?" ask Emma.

"I've discovered that Daniel is Tom's biological son" Laura replied.

Emma looked surprised and looked at Laura with a look of disbelief. "Who told you that, Laura?"

Laura took a deep breath before replying, "Someone told me after a few days yesterday.”

"Who told you that?" ask Emma again.

"Mary, the woman who became Tom's affair, she felt that I should know the truth about this relationship,” Laura replied.

Emma paused for a moment before saying, "I know that this must have surprised you a lot, Laura. I hope you can understand that this is not Daniel.”'s fault either

Laura looked at Emma and said in a trembling voice, "But Dani has been with me and has become my lover, Emma. I feel hurt and doubt our relationship now."

Emma grabbed Laura's hand again and said, "Laura, I understand that you are hurt and doubt your relationship now. I don't know how to change this situation, but I want you to know that Daniel loves you so much and I don't think he wants to lose you."

Laura cried and said, "I don't know how to handle this, Emma. I feel so hurt and confused."

Emma rubbed Laura's back gently as she said, "I know this is hard, Laura, but you guys can get through it together. I'm sure Daniel will do whatever needs to be done to fix your relationship.”

Laura took a deep breath and said. “I need time to think things through, Emma. I feel like all the foundations of our relationship have been shaken. I don't know how to fix it."

Emma grabbed Laura's hand again and said, "I understand, Laura. You have to take the time you need to process everything. But I want you to know that you can definitely face all these obstacles.” Laura smiled at Emma and nodded her head.

Daniel sat on the porch of his house, his eyes staring blankly at the ceiling high above him. His heart was torn to shreds after knowing his true identity, which had been hidden from him all along. He is the son of Tom's father's affair with another woman.

Feelings of anger, sadness, and disappointment were mixed in him. He did not know what to do after knowing this truth. He felt like his life was ruined. Daniel has grown up well with Lusi, the mother who nurtured him since childhood who he considers a true mother figure.

She felt shocked and disappointed at her mother who had been hiding this great secret from her for many years.

"As for you to think what,” his mother's voice, Lusi suddenly sounded from behind Daniel. "But I hope you don't ignore our relationship because of this."

Daniel turned his head and saw Lusi standing behind him. He felt shocked and guilty for not hearing his arrival.

"I'm sorry, Daniel,” Daniel said as he stood to hug Susi. “Daniel didn't mean it that way.”

Luci stroked Daniel's hair gently. "Mom understands that this is very surprising. But you should know that mom loves you as a mother's own son. Whatever happens, I'll always be here for you."

Daniel felt haru and touched by the words of Luci. He felt lucky to have a woman like Lusi by his side.

"Thank you, mother" Daniel said weeping. "I love my mom too."

A few weeks later, Daniel still feels confused about how to cope with his feelings about his father's affair and his relationship with Laura. He tried not to think about it, but kept the shadows in his mind.

Daniel decides to find out more about his father and the woman who became his biological mother. He started to dig up information about them and found some shocking information. Tom has had several previous cheating relationships and the woman he is the real mother of is one of them.

Daniel felt even more sad and angry after knowing this. He could not forgive his father for his mistakes.

"Daniel, I want to talk to you" said Luci.

Daniel did not want to hear what Lusi would say about his father. But he knew he had to face it. They sat on the porch and Lucia started talking about what happened.

"Daniel, I know that you're angry with your father. I am so sorry to have hidden this truth from you all this time" said Lusi.

Daniel could not believe his mother's words. She felt her mother did not understand how much she was disappointed in her father's actions.

"Mother, what you're doing is so wrong. He has ruined my life" Daniel said in a soft voice.

Lusi nodded, "mother knows that. But what has happened is indeed his destiny, now how do we face what is in front of us. I used to feel the same way you did, how hurt, angry and disappointed it was when your father took you in front of me, but mom is now grateful to have you who mom already considers as her own mother's son.”

"Why didn't you tell me in the first place? Or the father who forbade me to tell Daniel?” ask Daniel.

“Mother herself decided not to tell you. Inu is afraid you won't accept the truth." Soft Susu.

Daniel was confused. He did not know how to respond to his mother's words.

"Alright, maybe you need some time to think about all this,” said Lusi as he stood up. "But I hope you can forgive your father one day."

Daniel was silent and did not answer. He felt hurt and upset at his father's actions. He felt that he needed time to heal the wounds in his heart.
