42. Above the Sky There, Rain Is Also Falling

Timo let out a long breath. He met the rain that fell heavily in front of the terrace with a view that is not less alone. "Anjani was my monkey's name first, boss. He died because he was too old" he said in a sad tone.

Prapto pursed his lips. "I thought Anjani was a woman's name, Nimo ... Nimo. But why are you sad? You were close to Anjani then?"

"Very close, Boss, and we love a rain shower. He slept with me. The father found it when he was looking for seedlings in the forest some distance from here. Anjani's mother was shot by a hunter. Then I took him home."

Prapto could see Nimo's eyes now glazed over. "I understand your longing for Anjani, Nimo. But I'm sure Anjani is missing you right now, because in the sky there, it must be raining too. You got a picture of Anjani?" tanyakanya.

Nimo wiped her sullen eyes. He then opened his phone and showed Anjani to Prapto. "This, Boss. He was not given a chain. Anjani went in and out of our house freely. Here's a picture of him smiling, boss, it was my birthday. And here's a picture of Anjani feeding me a cake." Nimo recounted every photo he scrolled.

Prapto. "By the way, Anjani doesn't have any children?" tanyakanya.

"No, Boss. Anjani's fetus has a disorder, so, the doctor said she can't get pregnant."

Prapto nodded back. "How about we find a new animal to keep, Nimo?"

"What animal, Boss?" asked Nimo a little interested.

Prapto grinning. "The anti-mainstream, Nimo."

"uh? Likewhat? Don't tell me the Boss wants to keep the tiger," Nimo said a little horrified.

"No Nimo. We keep sharks."

"Huh?"

Prapto laughs. "Handering. Anyway where can sharks live in fresh water, Nimo. I want to have a pet loyal to his partner, Nimo. There are some, such as owls, gibbons, parakeets, pigeons, and crocodiles" Prapto said.

Nika. "You're serious, boss, you want to keep a crocodile? I don't want to, Boss. Fear," said Nimo. But, Boss, if it's true that crocodiles are loyal, why would anyone stamp a land crocodile man on a man who has more than one girlfriend?"

Prapto. "In the meantime, I'll explain. I borrowed the wise look on Timo's face, which he rarely puts on now" said Prapto, laughing. "But about what I'm about to explain this is serious."

After Prapto's face turned into a wise pretender, he said, "The crocodile is a loyal animal, Nimo. If the female dies, the male will not look for another female. They would rather spend the rest of their lives alone. Reptiles are also known as protective animals.

"When the female is laying eggs, male crocodiles will be ready to guard them from predators. Even if you have to sacrifice your own life. Perhaps that is why crocodile bread is always present in every Betawi tribe wedding, because crocodiles are indeed symbolized as a form of loyalty."

Nimo nodded in understanding and admiration. "Gee. I didn't expect the crocodile to be loyal, boss. Then what the fuck with the term land crocodile? That's one form of defamation that violates the animalistic principle!"

Prapto laughs. "That's why I don't know, Nimo. Now, let's go to sleep!" bring him. “After I think, we find a pet after finished gotong royong only later.”

Gotong royong the third day of Kejora village continues to be filled with excitement and cheerfulness. Fathers and men of the unmarried village of Kejora built the two buildings as if they were not familiar with fatigue. Even Lapen, Taro, Lennon, and the boys who were the same age as them also seemed excited.

"Lapen! That you cut the bamboo not straight" Taro exclaimed at Lapen. Taro's long hair up to the ears and the middle part was fluttering in the wind.

Lapen was a little surprised. He then lifted a small piece of bamboo that will be used as a fence and then noticed it. "That's right, Taro. But thank goodness it's just a little snare. I'll justify it" Lapen said. "Where was Lennon?"

"Say the money was left at home" replied Taro. Then he looked around. "Well, there it is. It seems he's hurrying Lapen, he's running." Taro pointed towards Lennon.

Lapen put the bamboo pieces that he had straightened. He stood up and looked at Taro. "Like pursued by the devil alone him."

"Lapen, Taro! I saw a big truck that was different from the one we see a lot" Lennon said, as soon as he arrived in front of his two best friends. "This truck is so cool! I ran straight away and took a shortcut to let you know, so you could see."

"Why did that truck get into our village, huh?" taro asked Lennon.

Without talking again Lapen and Taro immediately followed Lennon. "Grandfather, we'll go for a minute, see the truck on the road near Lennon's house," Lapen cheered to Mr. Oscar, running.

"Be careful, Lapen!"

The three little friends now ran side by side. They're passing a shortcut. "To there!" lennon shouted while preceding his two best friends turned left.

They now arrived at a crossroads of the village road and looked around. "That's the truck" said Lennon, pointing to the right of where they were standing, as the black American-modeled truck seemed to be traveling at a slow speed.

"Wooaahh! What truck is this? Very cool. As in the book we read," cried Lapen and Taro together.

One of the two men sitting in the black truck said, "That's not the grandson of the Village Chief, Father?" the question is, which turns out to be Timo.

Mr. Gumiro who was driving smiled. He stopped his truck in front of Lapen and his two best friends. "Three little friends! Where are you going?" asked Mr. Gumiro after opening the glass of the truck.

"Gumiro Grandpa!" call Lapen, Taro, and Lennon together.

"We'd like to see this truck, Cake. It turned out that the one driving it was Grandpa Gumiro. Where's grandpa going?" Lapen asked.

"You go to gotong royong. This truck will bring crops and processed food from Kejora villagers."

"If we knew Grandpa was going there, we wouldn't have had much trouble running here" Lapen said.

Timo smiled. "Yes already, boy. Hop on! You'll be amazed at how cool this American truck is" Timo said.

The faces of Lapen and his two best friends were radiant. They then climbed on top of the truck.

The residents who were carrying royong stopped for a moment, when Mr. Oscar said that the truck owned by the Kejora company came. They both looked at an American-modeled black truck driving slowly in the distance, until it stopped not far from the village hall.

The first to descend were Lapen, Taro, and Lennon. They come down in a style that is made cool. Moreover, Lennon who was wearing a shirt that day, he wagged the collar of his shirt when he just got off the truck.

After Mr. Gumiro and Timo went down, Mr. Gumiro said in a hardened voice, "This truck is a truck belonging to the Kejora company and also belongs to the Kejora villagers. I hope you like this American model truck." Mr. Gumiro lit his cigarette and walked to where Mr. Oscar, Prapto, and Nimo took care of wood and bamboo.

"Cool, Sir!" cheers of Mr. Ino who was on one of the walls of the building.

After chatting for a while, Mr. Oscar invited Mr. Gumiro to his house to discuss business matters. They are not unwilling to discuss business in the village hall or in the place where people are clad in royong, but the sound of hammers and other equipment used to build will certainly make the discussion atmosphere less comfortable.

Upon arriving at his home after walking for a few minutes, Mr. Oscar took Mr. Gumiro, Timo, Prpato, and Nimo to the Vimala park, where he took his friends, that is the park that Mr. Oscar deliberately made to be presented to Bu Inari on his wife's birthday.

Mr. Gumiro and Timo were unceasingly amazed as soon as they saw a colorful butterfly flying in the Vimala garden.

"It's one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen" Gumiro and Timo said.

"It's ready, Mr. Kades!" cheers Bu Inari from the back door of her house.

"Yes, Mom. I'm going there." Mr. Oscar stepped in to pick up five glasses of coffee and freshly made fries by Ms. Inari, then took her to a table near the Vimala garden.

"Well, please eat and drink the dish," said Mr. Oscar, after Nimo had finished helping him serve the dish. "Oh yeah, that American truck is really cool, Mr. Gumiro."

"True," said Prapto and Nimo together.

"I'm glad Mr. Oscar, Nak Nimo, and Nak Prapto love it. Mr. Ino said he liked it too," said Mr. Gumiro. He turned to Timo and said, "Well, son. Give up your cigarettes and tell Mr. Oscar, Nak Nimo, and Nak Prapto about the results of your investigation!"
