Chapter 21: Something from the Past

Ambon City, October 2101.

This is the future, a time where almost all problems that occur in this world can be solved thanks to advances in science and technology. But unfortunately, despite the progress in the field, not all problems can be resolved easily. One of those hard-to-resolve issues is the problem that has been around for more than a century, bullying.

The short blonde student from Ambon was indeed known to be very intelligent, but somehow he became one of the victims of the problem.

“Haha. So smart of you,”

Alistair Sahilatua, one of the students from a High School in Ambon City, was often harassed by his classmates. Scribbling books, scorn and insults, until the throwing of food wrappers was often done on him. For some reason they all do that, not even an Ali himself knows. Is it because of his appearance? But he felt that it could not be an excuse.

“Basic suck, Nerd smart ass anyway,”

Alistair was a young man who was patient enough to face them. But as an ordinary man, there are times when his patience runs out. And it happened right in the afternoon in a small alley in Ambon City, with quite heavy rain conditions.

“Ja-don't do it, Bobby. Please..”

Alistair tried to rebel, but there were 2 other students who held him. He could hardly move though.

“Ah, so this is your favorite hourglass huh, Li? Good also haha.”.

The student named Bobby reached into the bag of the blonde-haired young man and found a small hourglass. At first glance it looks like an ordinary souvenir that can be grasped with one hand only, but in fact it is not just any souvenir because of its rarity that makes it special. The hourglass was a gift from his father while on duty out of town, and Alistair really liked it. Moreover, his father did tell Ali to really keep the fairly rare item before. It's no wonder why Ali would be so scared if something happened to that thing.

“Woy, Bobby. Don't do anything to that thing, please,”

Alistair begged him not to touch the thing carelessly, but it seemed like it was a waste. Bobby turned back to yell at him.

“Shut up!!! Basic Nerd doesn't know himself. You've made us suffer because you threw itchy powder at us. Now you have to accept the consequences,”

A few days ago, Bobby and his group had also harassed Ali while in the school laboratory, and out of annoyance, the blonde-haired man threw a kind of powder at them. He was not aware that the powder contains chemicals that can make human skin itch. The incident happened and they were called to the BK room. Apparently Bobby and his friends took revenge on Ali because of the incident.

“Tu~wait. Yesterday it was an accidental beta. Beta didn't know that the powder could itch, so..”.

“Haw, Damn!!!”

Bobby's anger has reached its peak. He slammed the hourglass into the asphalt and stepped on it until it was destroyed. Alistair could only be silent looking at him. The rare item given by his father was now broken into pieces, stepped on by the man with a large enough body.

“Haha…. Fuck you, I destroyed the hourglass. So don't be cocky in front of us, haha..” said Bobby arrogantly.

Bobby's friends who were holding Ali laughed at him, while Bobby turned around and seemed to be leaving the place. Satisfaction is seen from the look on his face.

It is different with Ali. What Bobby did was the height of his anger at them. He has been their subject for almost three semesters. Ali always held back his patience when dealing with them. But now his patience had run out along with the destruction of his father's most precious rare item.

“Hey, what are you doing?”

“Woy, Bob. Watch out!!!”

The big man turned around, but Ali was very close to him. The anger that he had been craving for more than a year was released through his fist.

“HIYAAAA!!”

BAKK.A hard punch hit Bobby in the face, pushed him a few meters and hit the iron power pole behind him very hard. The evidence of Alistair's outburst of anger that he had been suppressing for a long time was released through his right hand. Ali was prepared when his friends did not accept what he did.

But it is different from his predictions. They both dared not approach him. They looked at Ali with a strange look, between anger and fear. One of them pointed at him while stammering.

Alistair who originally looked angry was immediately confused by their expressions that seemed to be disgusted at him.

“BASIC SAVAGE!!”

At first they thought they were going to fight with him, they ran away scared and left him. Ali was completely confused by their expressions. But his confused expression turned 180 degrees as he looked at Bobby.

The blonde-haired man was completely shocked by what he saw. Bobby, this big student looks helpless. Especially after the news that Bobby can not continue school in that place again. It made the mood worse.

“Eh look at that, Ali the delinquent,”

“Oh yes. He hit Bobby to the amnesia, didn't he?”

“Inexcusable him,”

“Sighted geeky, but inside turned out to be criminal,”

“Gue sure ntar abis pass he will be a killer, that too if he graduated from here,”

Various scorn and gibberish about him spread throughout the school, making the blond-haired student completely shunned by almost all students. Ali has to spend the rest of her High School time with tremendous inner pressure. Even when he got the highest score in UNBV, none of the students congratulated him. They applauded him on stage, but it was because they had to. They kept staring at him cynically.

“If I hadn't done that,”

Alistair Sahilatua, Maluku-European youth lived his High School life with great suffering. His miserable life slowly ended when he was accepted as a student of the Ambon Institute of Technology in 2103. Everyone wants to accept him as he is, be it Kevin, Herlin, his partner Dwiana, or all his other friends. Slowly, she tries to forget what happened to her in the past.
