The air in Mittelbergheim that morning was cold. Zayn had just woken up because the cold was piercing the skin. Last night he kept a close eye on Lusy, but did not dare to approach for fear that the woman was not comfortable with his whereabouts.
Zayn recalled Joya saying, It took Lusy a long time to trust someone because of the disappointment he had experienced, to ask the young man to be more patient in approaching Lusy.
“How much time does he work?”
Zayn wondered for himself, and then chose to get up from his bed. The young man washed his face, changed his nightgown and then walked out of the hotel room. Zayn wanted to take a walk while knowing what Lusy was doing in the morning.
Zayn walked with both palms into the jacket pocket. Sometimes Zayn greeted and nodded when he met the people around, until he reached the end of the village, where Lusy's house was located.
“What is he doing in the morning?”
Zayn wants to know more about Lusy, even himself to wonder to the surrounding residents and find out if Lusy already has no parents, nor relatives there.
As Zayn was busy observing Lusy's quiet house, from behind the owner of the house walked while carrying a basket filled with bread and jam, while one hand held Cheryl.
“What are you doing?”
Lusy's voice surprised Zayn, the young man immediately turned his head and saw the woman he liked standing looking at him.
Zayn was stumbling, had to find the right reason so that Lusy did not feel if he was being watched.
“I was walking around, then stopped here and saw the vineyard,” said Zayn giving reasons so that Lusy did not feel afraid or suspicious of him.
Cheryl looked at Zayn while sucking her thumb, clearly the little boy already recognized who the young man standing before her was.
Lusy nodded at Zayn's words, seemingly believing the young man's reasoning.
“You have breakfast? I just bought bread and milk.” Lusy offers because it is impolite to ignore, while knowing that the young man in front of him is a friend of Joya.
Got an offer from Lusy, making a fluffy smile on the young man's lips. Of course Zayn wouldn't waste the chance to get closer to that woman.
Zayn does not enter Lusy's house, choosing to wait in front while playing with Cheryl. The little girl got active, kept walking, pulled flowers, sometimes ran to and fro.
“See, it's beautiful if put here.” Zayn crouched down and hugged to hold Cheryl's tiny body from continuing to walk. Then pin the flowers that Cheryl plucked into the little girl's ear.
“See, beautiful.” Praise Zayn while looking at Cheryl.
Lusy came out with a tray of sandwiches and milk, stood in the doorway and saw what Zayn was doing. Until the woman walked to the table on the terrace, then put the tray there.
“The hope is ready,” said Lusy.
Zayn looked over, then nodded. She then takes Cheryl to Lusy.
“Oh yes, Joya leave a greeting for you,” Zayn said as they started breakfast.
Lusy immediately looked at Zayn, then replied to the young man with a nod, before turning to Cheryl who was sitting quietly enjoying her bread
“You are here because of what business?” tanya Lusy tries to divert the conversation about Joya. He only felt guilty for taking Cheryl and not telling his friend.
Zayn was confused to hear Lusy's question, so his brain had to think hard to find a reasonable reason so that Lusy did not suspect him. He just wants the relationship he will establish to look natural, so try to make Lusy believe if their meeting is an accident.
“My father asked me here to find the best wine. My colleague said, Mittelbergheim is the best wine-producing place, so I came here, but did not expect to see you too, ” Zayn replied.
Fortunately Zayn had already found out about the village, so his knowledge could now be used to make excuses to Lusy.
Lusy nodded in understanding, the reason Zayn did make sense. He chose breakfast, watching Cheryl eat.
Zayn ate the breakfast Lusy made, occasionally glancing at the woman who made her heart pound. What a heart the young man felt torn apart by one woman who for some was not special at all. However, for Zayn who was already in love, the woman before him was very special and second to none.
“Do you not want or live in the city? I heard you used to be an assistant designer?” ask Zayn to try to learn more about Lusy's life.
Lusy smiled bitterly at Zayn's question, choosing not to answer immediately, but rubbed the surface of Cheryl's lips were smudged.
“There are things that make me not want to live in the city, and now I want to spend time with Cheryl both. There are times I have to redeem, times when I cannot give my best when Cheryl needs me,” Lusy said as she looked at Cheryl.
Lusy felt sorry for not being able to take care of Cheryl as a baby, now he only took a moment to be with his daughter, at least until his heart was sure to return to work as a career woman.
Zayn tried to understand, and did not ask further because he already knew all about Lusy.
They continued to eat breakfast, until a loud voice called out Lusy's name. The woman turned her head, and so did Zayn, so that Lusy was surprised to see who was now standing looking at her.
