Chapter 27: Cancellation of the Engagement Plan

For several days Lyra's feelings were shrouded in worry, she seemed hesitant to ask her brother.

"What's the matter, baby, I noticed from yesterday that you're restless?" ask Adit to his wife.

"Mas, do you remember Rangga?"

"Whose neighbors?" adit asked, trying to remember him.

"So, Tyshia will soon be engaged to Rangga. Rangga is the son of my best friend named Retno. Mas was still dying a few years ago when we attended my best friend's funeral in Jogja, two days later Rangga just came because he was studying in New York" said Lyra.

"Awhile...." Adit sighed deeply then he continued his sentence.

"So Rangga's the son of Retno and Julio? the guy who hit Mba Ana, you mean??" ask Adit slowly.

"That's true" Lyra replied.

"Oh my God, why is the world so narrow? then did Mas Rio know about it?" ask Adit back.

"No" replied Lyra briefly.

Adit was speechless, he turned his back to Lyra staring out the window of his office.

"Mas Adit what should I do?" ask Lyra.

"You have to tell the truth to Mas Rio and Mba Ana, before Tyshia and Rangga get engaged" Adit replied.

"But will Mas Rio still accept Rangga?" ask Lyra.

"If I become Mas Rio I won't allow Tyshia to get engaged to Rangga, I'd like to get engaged, let my son befriend him of course I will forbid him. The accident happened in front of my own eyes and I also took care of the legal process so I know very well how difficult it was when Mas Rio's condition" Adit replied.

"But didn't Rangga have nothing to do with his parents' actions? and aren't his parents gone?" Lyra raised her tone.

"Fruit falls not far from the tree, can you guarantee that Rangga will not be like that? Tyshia is my only niece from Mas Rio, I don't want her to be hurt by Rangga"

"Then what should I do?" ask Lyra

"Tell it now to Mas Rio before they spread out the engagement invitation" Adit replied firmly.

During the week Lyra thought about the matter, many things she considered before she finally decided to tell her brother, the day Lyra went to her brother's office and said everything there.

Lyra took a deep breath before she entered her brother's study, then she knocked on the door and opened it, just so she was in her sister's office, Lyra hoped that Ana's presence could make the atmosphere calmer.

"What's up Dek, tumben here without notifying first" said Ana as she hugged and kissed the right and left cheeks of her sister-in-law.

"Yes Mba, there is something I want to talk to Mas Rio and Mba Ana" Lyra approached towards Rio then greeted her brother.

"Yes, we're sitting on the couch!" Rio moved from his seat towards the sofa in his study.

"What's up Dek, seems like there's a serious problem. Is your company in trouble?" ask Ana.

"No Mba Ana, my company is fine" Lyra replied.

Before starting her talk about Rangga, Lyra looked at Mba and Masnya in turn.

"Mba Ana, Mas Rio there is something important that I want to convey to the two of you, but I hope whatever the decision will be, Mba Ana and Mas Rio had already considered it carefully from all sides and did not make a decision in an emotional state."

Hearing Lyra's serious-sounding sentence, Rio put his phone on the table, then stared intensely at his sister. Likewise with Ana, he improved his sitting position to focus more on the direction of Lyra's conversation.

"Rangga, the future fiancee of Tyshia is the son of my best friend Retno" Lyra stopped her sentence, she looked at her two silent brothers without expression.

"I didn't lie Mas, I met Rangga several times when I visited Retno when she was sick and when I attended Retno's funeral. I met and chatted with Rangga, I also drove Rangga to the airport when he returned to New York to continue his study because Dad was sick at the time so he could not take Rangga" said Lyra.

Rio got up from his seat to his desk, he called his HRD staff to ask for complete data about Rangga including the names of Rangga's biological parents.

Not a word came out of Rio and Ana's mouth, this made Lyra unable to guess what her two sisters were thinking.

Shortly afterwards Edgar entered Rio's room, giving Rio the files requested from his office's HRD staff. After Edgar came out of his room, Rio opened the file.

Rio saw the same last name with Julio name, Rio also saw the address on the photo copy of ID card, rangga, the already familiar address for Rio and the last one Rio saw the names of both parents of Rangga's birth certificate on the coffee photo of Rangga's birth certificate attached to his CV.

"Why is the world so narrow?" Rio placed the file earlier on the table, he held his forehead.

Ana approaches Rio to retrieve the file from her husband's desk, seeing the same thing her husband saw.

"Lyr, can you leave us both? I want to talk to your mom" Roo said.

"Well Mas Rio, I'll excuse you first" Lyra understood very well that her brother needed to discuss this with his wife.

After lyra left his office, Rio approached towards his wife.

"I don't want my daughter to have a relationship, what's more having offspring from people who have hurt you" Rio said.

"What about Tyshia?" asked Ana, she did not want to make her daughter's heart sad.

"I will talk to him, I'm sure he will understand" Rio said.

Rio called Rangga, asking him to come to his room. Rangga went straight into Rio's work room and sat down at the place he had been invited to.

"Just go ahead Ngga, we want to apologize because we can't continue your engagement with our daughter" Rio said, writing a note of money in his check.

"Why Om? why is it suddenly like this?" rangga asked in surprise, the sentence was like lightning in broad daylight because just this morning he came to Rio's workroom and they were still chatting casually.

"We feel you're not the right person for our daughter" Rio said.

"But Om didn't Om approve of our relationship, so what made Om suddenly cancel our engagement? was there a mistake I made?" Rangga tried to ask Rio for an explanation.

"Yes, we did approve of you, but now Om has found a person who is much better than you and equal to us. Here's your salary and severance, please leave our daughter!!" Rio handed the check to Rangga.

Rangga began to understand the intent of Rio's words, Rio not only broke off his engagement plan with Tyshia but Rio also cut off his working relationship.

Rangga moved from his seat "I understand, I'm sorry, ladies and gentlemen. I apologize if I have been wrong about you and your mistress." Rangga left without taking Rio's gift check.

From the time Rangga found out that Tyshia was the only daughter of the owner of the company where she worked, she had felt very insecure and inappropriate with Tyshia, but because of her great love for Tyshia, she was very insecure and unworthy, he got rid of that feeling.

Rangga returned to his room to clean up his belongings, after all his goods neat he put it in the corner of his room. Even though his heart was broken, he still completed his responsibility.

With eyes that began to glaze one by one he completed his work, he also made important notes about his job desk so that people who later replace his position do not experience difficulties.

At 23:00 pm he saw dozens of calls coming into his phone from Tyshia, Rangga ignored him trying to stay concentrated on completing his work.

At exactly 00.00 pm Rangga just finished his entire work, before he stepped out of his room, he turned back his memory with Tyshia.

While carrying her belongings, Rangga walked to his old desk, while he was still a regular staff, Rangga remembered that time Tyshia always accompanied him to work via video call.

"Thank you Byy has been the most important part of my life" he said softly, then he walked out of the office.
