Freedom Day

"Sir Bara, you're acquitted of prosecution."

Bara was stunned for a moment to digest the words of a prison officer standing in front of his cell door. The officer opened the door padlock and let Bara out of the stuffy room which was exactly one month into the residence of Bara.

Still in disbelief about being released, Bara got up from his place and followed the officer. The people who had been living in a cell with him were just staring at Bara's departure. Some were seen whispering about Bara's sudden freedom. Some suspect Bara can come out with the power of money.

Bara was taken to the workroom of the head of the washroom. There was Rethah and his family. They seemed to cry when they saw Bara's presence.

Bara walked towards the front seat of the toilet head table. He sits next to his lawyer, Jonan.

"Congratulations, Mr. Bara. From the day you are released and your name has been cleared of all charges" said Lukito, the head of the prison. He was the one who had been lending his private room for Bara's personal activities with his wife.

"May I know, what's the reason?" ask Bara. He thought he would be there longer. The last days were quiet, there was no meaningful development from the investigation into his case.

"The principal has surrendered and said that you are not involved with the case" Lukito said.

He turned to his lawyer. He had no idea that Mikola had chosen to turn herself in. Bara already knew that Mikola's reason for admitting her mistake was because her right hand had a sickly grandmother. Mikola often told me about her grandmother being a single parent to her since she was a child. That's why Mikola loves her grandmother so much.

"Yesterday, Mikola turned herself in. He has admitted his mistake. While still in the stage of further examination to investigate the parties involved. He said that you completely do not know about the problem, because you are no longer taking care of the project directly."

"Where is he? Can I meet him?" ask Bara. He was a little worried about the condition of the person who had once been his belief.

Mr. Lukito gave the code to two of his guards to bring Bara to meet with Mikola who was detained in a special room.

The moment the door of the holding room opened, the first thing Bara saw was Mikola who was sitting curled up in the corner of the room.

"Sir!" mikola exclaimed when she saw the presence of her former boss. He got up from his bed and walked over to Bara.

Instead of getting angry or beating the person who had betrayed him, Bara gave a hug to Mikola. The former employee was sobbing to the mer3m4s on Bara's back. Mikola was speechless. It poured out its deep sadness to Bara. For a while, Bara listened only to Mikola's cries and felt the man's body being shaken.

"I'm sorry to bother you, sir," Mikola said after her cries subsided. They sat on the floor leaning against the wall inside the special room.

"Sorry to have you come in here. It should have been from the beginning that I was in this place." Mikola said with a tone of regret.

"Your grandmother how are you?" ask Bara.

Mikola looked towards Bara. He should have been beaten or at least scolded for his actions. However, the first thing Bara asked was her grandmother's condition, as usual.

"My grandmother is much better, sir. He now lives in Mr. Zack's nursing home. If you have time, please visit my grandmother once in a while," Mikola pinta.

"definitely. I'll definitely go see your grandma."

Mikola was very astonished at Bara. The man seemed to have absolutely no intention of asking him anything about the deception he was committing.

"Pak ...," call Mikola.

"Yes?"

"What should I ask? You must have your own reasons for doing so."

"Aren't you angry with me?"

Bara's silence was far more terrible than the thugs' hits. He even prefers Bara to pass the anger through a blow rather than silence without blaming him.

"Anger. Of course I'm angry. Who would not be angry after being betrayed by the most trusted person." Bara spoke in a flat tone.

"Are you so angry you won't talk to me?"

Bara sighed. "Mikola ... Thank you for telling the truth to the police. I hope you have no regrets about your decision" Bara said, staring at Mikola.

Mikola looked smiling. "I regret not giving myself up in the first place. I'm sorry to have implicated you in this matter and troubled you. I regret betraying the most valuable person in my life. I am ready to make amends for this great mistake even with my own life."

Mikola had been steady when she decided to turn herself in to the police. He told his grandmother everything and asked her sincerity to make amends. The grandmother willingly told Mikola to turn herself in and take responsibility for her actions. He is proud to have a granddaughter who loves his grandmother. However, Mikola still had to admit her mistake to the police.

"Rpa ... What if I unpack Mr Rudy's involvement?" ask Mikola.

"Do you have any solid evidence to ensnare him?"

"There, Sir. I have proof of the engineering plan of the accident that befell you. It's actually that he wanted to harm Mr. Frederick, Mr. Zack's father."

"It's a pretty serious matter if you want to involve a big man like Mr. Rudy. You have to be careful while you are here. I'll help keep you safe, as well as provide legal assistance through my lawyer."

Mikola laughed a little. "Why are you still being nice to someone who has betrayed you?"

"I've looked at you like family. Without you, my company wouldn't have skyrocketed like it does today."

"But, now your company is in a state of near-bankruptcy because of me."

"It doesn't matter, I can start over again" Bara said lightly. "You, just go through this judicial process well. I'll wait for you to come out and rejoin us."

"Rpa ... Why do your words keep making me so moved." Mikola shed her tears again.

Bara patted Mikola on the shoulder. "So men don't cry."

"Father is too good to be human. If I were a woman, I would be interested in you, too" Mikola said.

"Please don't say that, I'll be considered abnormal." Bara shuddered amusedly listening to Mikola's words.

"But, it is true that employees often assume you have diverged, sir. You see, three years did not seem interested in anyone" said Mikola. "They don't know if you're married to Miss Retha. When are you going to introduce them to your employees?"

"I'll introduce him soon" Bara said.
