"Miss."
Emilia was writing abstracts in her notebook when Darto appeared in the bedroom window, at half-two p.m. The thirty-five-year-old man spoke in a calm voice that fused with the silence of the night.
"Young Master left a message for you. He needs Miss's help to draw Samuel Ahkam's favor."
"What is so special about that man?"
"Samuel Ahkam is the founder of the Oto organization, Miss."
For a second, Emilia was shocked.
Autos. Underworld organizations that are not well-known on the surface but are wary of, including by Emilia herself.
"Why didn't Senior negotiate directly with Samuel Ahkam?"
"It seems that the offer that Young Master gave did not tickle Samuel Ahkam's desire to obey him. However most of the Oto members were the Young Master's gifts. I think, Young Master has indeed planned this from the beginning."
Senior is so.
At the beginning of liberating, letting something grow naturally, then if the development is profitable, then Senior will invite to work together.
"Do I have to kill him to give Senior Oto?"
"I think Young Master wants Samuel Ahkam personally, Miss."
Senior was acting like such a fuss again.
But Emilia could not resist for whatever Senior Mahesa wanted, it had become a must for Emilia to give her.
But why did Senior push Emilia?
He is not the type to say 'only you can be relied upon' because Mahesa Mahardika has everything, pawn after pawn that she can count on in certain situations.
It was like he was telling me to leave the village now. Emilia stared at the scribbles of her hands on the paper and sighed.
What is this thing called 'destiny'?
Even when Emilia did not care who killed Father as well as Mother, suddenly Ahkam appeared and forced her to interfere.
If it was fate, could Emilia write her own destiny?

"If you don't believe me, try to find my name on the internet."
"Not having."
So poor. Doesn't he at least have to buy a cell phone in this technological age? What would he know if he didn't even have a smartphone?
"Ema, come with me. I know it might be hard to believe. I could have tricked you into doing something bad. But, if you can just for a little bit, let me repay your kindness. Please." Please."
She's quiet. They stayed quiet for a long time and finished their food.
"Or do you just want money in return for your kindness?"
"I'm not a beggar."
"I know, Ema. I asked because you didn't answer my main question."
Was he on guard because Samuel was too urgent?
"You put it this way." Samuel looked at his face focused on washing his hands. "I'll go and come back with an identity for you to believe."
The girl, for the first time, looked back at Samuel. "Do as you please."
*
"Boss."
Samuel stared at the view of the village from the top of the mountain where he was waiting for Ryo, his men came.
From this distance it was not too obvious their settlement, and Samuel could not see the remote residence of Ema.
"Who brought me here?"
"We just assumed that it was Mahesa's. Riu goes to see him to ask the reason for the action, and Mahesa just says in a desperate situation, hiding you is indeed the best option."
Owe Mahesa his life as much as it owes the devil. Your souls will be taken.
But that person usually doesn't act for no apparent reason.
Is there anything special about this village?
"Find out something about a girl named Ema. Everything."
Samuel could not feel that it was just a coincidence if it involved Mahesa. But he also had a hard time guessing exactly what was special about the washing worker girl who sewed people's wounds roughly without anesthesia.
"He was an orphan since he was five years old. Nurtured by a young widow who seems to be close to the girl. No special information."
"Did anyone ever teach him to treat someone?"
"Nothing, Boss. No more interaction with the people around. Miss you mean just a regular laundry laborer."
Samuel got up grimacingly holding his wound. "Stay find out and repeat. Especially Mahesa's intention."
"Riokay." [Carried out.]
"What about Ahkam?"
"They know you're alive. Argantana Ahkam did not send anyone anymore. Looks like he's gonna pretend he didn't do anything."
It always has been. Argantana hunts him down, and Samuel survives, and they pretend not to fight each other for blood.
This time it just so happened that Samuel was seriously injured.
"Prepare the vehicle to return. Where's the phone I asked for?"
Ryo handed Samuel a new phone, especially for him to bring back to Ema.
Now he just needs to prove that he's not a fraud, then get back with Ema.
*
He came back sooner than Emilia had expected.
Still in the same clothes he was wearing away, Samuel came just to bring a cell phone to Emilia.
"For now, this is the only evidence I've given you. My wallet's gone."
Emilia did burn it so of course it was gone.
Stared at the screen of the phone in Samuel's hand that displayed various photos from the internet.
That's enough to be proof that he's not a cheat—although Emilia never considered him a fraud.
"Come with me, Ema."
Now Emilia could already say, "Alright."
"We leave—"
"Now." Emilia. "I'll get my stuff done so let's go now."
".... You don't want to tell someone?"
Somebody? Wh who?
Emilia did not leave any business here. He would go to the city, do what he could for Mahesa, then go find a new village to live in again because Emilia preferred a quiet life.
This village has no special meaning.
Emilia locked the door to her room.
The first thing he did was to take out the needle box, hiding one by one those poisonous needles in his skin and clothes.
Only then did Emilia pick up the bag, snatch a simple amount of clothes, and then close the closet.
Last time he took his glasses and then his notebook.
"Come on."
"What about the woman who took care of you?"
"I left a message here." Emilia deliberately wrote a letter as if she was a parting. "I don't like to see people cry. He'll hug me for a long time and say things. So there's no need."
Samuel took a breath. "Your heart is stone."
"...."
"That's not an insult. No offense."
"I'm not offended." Emilia felt praised. "Then, are you still going to sit down or should I sleep waiting for you to be ready?"
She smiles. "You're so excited to go to town."
Nope.
Emilia just doesn't like to waste time on useless things.
