Samuel did not expect to be given this kind of surprise. Soraya killed herself. Chugging poison after reading a series of painful sentences from social media that gossiped he liked Samuel.
As families wept to blame those who did not act quickly, Samuel glanced at Rowan who was silent and blankly looking at his sister.
The boy could not hide the grief from his face.
Since the situation had been very serious, Samuel had to join the discussion with Argantana and Suryanata.
"I'll just say a few things." Samuel put on a posture in front of two people who were his enemies. "Most of all, Oto doesn't kill with poison."
Argantana and Suryanata were silent.
"Also, I don't know what about you guys but killing Soraya didn't give me any advantage. We know together."
"You don't think I know?" Suryanata replied calmly.
"Eitherway. But it looks like you—I mean, Dad tried to take advantage of Soraya's death as pressure." Samuel smiled flatly. "Oto mine. Even if you die, I won't give it up."
Of course Samuel did not miss the void on Argantana's expression. He did not think his daughter was a victim. He doesn't care about Seline, Idrus, or the people after them.
Argantana thinks because Rowan is safe, Soraya is safe.
Samuel thought so too. He had suspected the person who did it set Argantana, following his children is the last meal.
"Give me information about your waiter."
"The two of you each sent someone looking for his background, I see, Rowan did too. Is there anything different about my documents and yours?"
Samuel rising. Turning around the table, taking the map that was deliberately placed there so often opened.
The map Samuel put between Argantana and Suryanata's hands.
"Everyone on this list has a very, very reasonable, emotional reason and of course understandable if they kill your family. I guess before seeing something like 'who did it', look first at who you 'created as the culprit'."
"Then you told me to feel guilty?"
Samuel chuckling. "You must be kidding me, Dad. I can kill you now without guilt and I won't get angry if you kill me now, without guilt. That's how we are."
Argantana kicked the table, though not hard.
He moved, looking into Samuel's eyes full of turbulent emotions. "If I find just one connection to all this, I'll find your mother. Taking cover behind Mahesa's back you think is useful? My pay is more expensive."
He's correct.
Mahesa Mahardika is arguably crazy money—because being ****** in the guise of patriots requires a lot of funds. But Argantana is a colossal man who has lived too long.
Money ... is not everything to Mahesa.

Samuel doesn't care how Argantana thinks he's intervening. Rather than that, Samuel had just seen Ema's expression rather moody. Maybe he thought this time he was targeted.
"Ema."
The girl sat by her barely open window, watching a line of sunlight hit the ground in a pot of roses given by Samuel.
Obviously Samuel was happy that Ema kept the thing.
"Ema." Samuel came to his side. "Are you okay?"
The girl glanced. "Why am I not okay?"
"Ema, listen. This time you will not be blamed or made a scapegoat again. We proved you didn't do anything. Okay well? Please don't worry."
"I'm not worried."
"I take it that way because everyone suspects you."
"Why?"
Samuel was silent for a moment. Before he sat down, he held Ema's hand gently. "That's because of me. I'm sorry."
"Your partner?" Ema just stared at their hands. "Did I experience everything because of you?"
"Ema—"
"I don't understand why. Is there anything special about you?"
".... There's no." Samuel thins his lips. "Nothing special about me."
