Curious Spirit Courier

Curious Spirit Courier
Death Courier

Ferdian stared in disbelief at the man in pure white and silver hair. He also did not believe in his hearing, the Death Tunnel. Ferdian's whole life had never heard that term. The railway in the tunnel does exist, but not once did he hear the term Death Tunnel.

"Are you kidding me? Death Tunnel? I've never heard of such a tunnel but if the ghost tunnel ... um, I mean the tunnel is filled with fine creatures there are indeed some." Ferdian stared intensely at the silver-haired man.

Thomas looked back at him with a mysterious smile, he knew Ferdian would not believe him. "Let's walk for a while."

Thomas and Ferdian walked along slowly. "Mr Ferdian, you see this! This is our train the Guardians. Thirteen of these carriages were made especially for the passengers who were also special. We need to get them to the last stop."

"Death Tunnel?"

"You may not believe it and think it's impossible but what you see is real."

Thomas and Ferdian stopped at one point right between the thirteen unique carriages that looked empty. Ferdian watched one car after another and asked in wonder.

"This much, the lights on and empty?" He asked while glancing at Thomas.

Thomas chuckled, his face looking handsome on par with a thirty-five year old man. "empty? That's because you haven't seen it completely well."

Ferdian looked at the whole set of carriages, there were really no passengers there. He was confused and had not had time to ask Thomas, the European man had given him a question that was quite surprising.

"Do you intend to work for me, sir?"

"Well, working with you?"

Thomas smiled, "I offer help to you. I know you're in trouble right now. I can help you, Mr. Ferdian."

"Where do you know my name, we haven't even met?"

Thomas took off his fedora hat, tidied up a bit of the rim of the completely blameless hat and looked at Ferdian.

"I know everything about you, sir. Mia and Agung, two very dear masters aren't you?"

"Where do you know if they're the people I care about?"

Thomas chuckled at Ferdian saying, "I know all that is in your mind and what is your destiny."

Ferdian looked up, "Who are you?" He asked in fear, his legs taking a step back.

"Didn't I say from the beginning that I was the Guardian? My job is to find a courier who delivers spirits to the Tunnel of Death."

Fears increasingly ambushed Ferdian, he returned a few steps back. Thomas wore his fedora again, smiling broadly at the now deathly pale young machinist.

"I came because of prayer, because of hope, and because of your despair sir!"

"W-what?"

"If you're willing to accept my offer, all problems will be resolved overnight."

"All problems? Last night?" Ferdian stammered he could not believe what Thomas had just said.

"Yes, all the financial problems, your condition is not good, and even I can make you rich. No one else can underestimate you, Mia, and of course the Great."

Ferdian was glued to his place, a tantalizing offer in plain sight. Between believing and not believing.

"Are you serious?"

"Of course I'm serious I even want to prove it to you right now." Thomas smiled, continuing his words. "Let's follow me."

One of Thomas's hands allowed Ferdian to follow him politely. Ferdian initially hesitates but then sets foot to follow the mysterious silvery-haired man. Thomas glanced at Ferdian who was still suspicious of him and smiled again.

"Calm down, sir, you'll be fine, and you'll feel much better than you feel now."

Thoma patted Ferdian on the shoulder trying to convince the young driver. Seven steps from them stood, an oddity occurred. Ferdian entered a different dimensional space, he moved from the platform of the station to a special room of care in the hospital.

Ferdian was surprised not to fall over, he found Mia rolled helpless with a battered face and also Agung who was sleeping soundly beside the bed.

"Mia!"

The same thing happened when he tried to touch Agung, his son. His hands could not reach, touch, or embrace the Great. The son she had missed so much. The boy she was so proud of, the child whose soul was saved from death.

"What's going on? Why can't I touch her?"

Ferdian kept trying to touch both of them but his efforts were not successful either. He fell on the floor, crying. Emotions that had been stifled finally overflowed. Thomas looked at the poor man with an indecipherable smile.

"Why can't I touch them?" Ferdian turned to Thomas and asked in anger.

"Because we exist in a different dimension of time and place to them."

"What do you mean?"

"We exist in the dimension of the supernatural while They exist in the human dimension, two dimensions that cannot be touched by each other intentionally."

Thomas approached Agung looking at the son of Ferdian with his pity face gently rubbing the hair of Agung, the boy fell asleep after a tired day of accompanying and looking after his mother.

"Supernatural? But why did you touch my son?"

"That's because I'm the Guardian who has the key to breaking through the dimensional boundary between the supernatural and the human world."

Ferdian looked at Thomas, not believing the explanation of the man of European descent. He stood up and rubbed his wet eyes. Staring for a moment the face of Mia who was still asleep with an infusion hose stuck in her left hand.

"Can you help me? Really?"

Thomas nodded, "In the night everything will be done."

"Including all my debts?"

"Yes, of course. You can also give them what they want. Your own home, money, jewelry, proper education for your son, everything you can get."

Ferdian was silent for a moment, thinking and staring alternately at Mia and Agung. "Can you guarantee our lives change?"

Thomas nodded steadily. "You interested?"

"Yes, I accepted the offer. But I want to see the evidence first, before I work for you."

"All right, we're back where we were." Thomas snapped his fingers and they were back on the station platform.

"What's my job?"

"As I have said, be a courier, bridge the living and the dead, avenge, and end it by delivering this lost soul to the tunnel of death. The last place where these perverted souls go to their proper final rest."

Ferdian stared at the thirteen empty carriages in front of him for a moment then looked at Thomas. "All right, I agree."

Thomas smiled widely, looked at Ferdian and took out a light brown paper roll from inside his suit.

"Make your consent here."

Ferdian read it for a moment, a cooperation contract. Occasionally he glanced at Thomas, after reading Ferdian immediately took the pen in his pocket.

"Not with a regular pen, Mr. Ferdian."

Thomas took out a long-haired pen from behind his suit again. He grabbed Ferdian's thumb, "It's gonna hurt a little."

Thomas stuck the sharp tip of the pen on Ferdian's thumb. The pen's eyes sucked Ferdian's blood making the long white feather red, as red as blood.

"Make your signature with this."

Without asking much more, Ferdian used the quill pen to sign the contract. Miracle happens, Ferdian blood scratches seep into the paper giving rise to bright rays that radiate along with the disappearance of blood into the paper.

The long fur turned back white, and the light dimmed. Ferdian was wide in disbelief, what was happening in front of him was like a blood covenant scene in the most popular magic film.

Thomas grabbed the agreement paper, examined it for a moment before rolling it back up.

"Contract accepted, I'll pick you up here tomorrow night. You better get ready, Ferdian. From tonight on, you are the Courier of Death."
