61. Disillusioned

This morning, Gu Yuena had just woken up from sleep. Suddenly there was a letter from Yang Xinyuan, saying that the man would be waiting for him in the town square.

"Did he peek at me sleeping?" Gu Yuena was even negative-minded. His eyes narrowed suspiciously towards the letter, but became indifferent as he blinked his eyes.

He also went out of the inn in knight clothes. She was like a tomboy girl with reddish black hair ponytailed as well as that indifferent face that looked so beautiful.

Oh yeah, he should have been looking for his brother.

Where is his brother?

"Xiao Hey, do you feel my brother's presence?" Gu Yuena asked Xiao Hei in the spiritual room.

"Do you want me to look for him?"

Gu Yuena thought for a moment, then let Xiao Hei out of the spiritual room. He looked at the black cat seriously. "We divide the task, looking in a different direction."

Xiao Hei sighed. "Miss, are you looking for a reason to date?"

"Who?" Gu Yuena asked.

"Yang Xinyuan."

"Did you find my brother?" gu Yuena asked, with a serious face as if she was talking about the military.

Yang Xinyuan was silent for a moment, then said, "He should be at the border."

"In that case, why just stay here? Let's go to the border." Gu Yuena pulled Yang Xinyuan's arm, yet the man did not change his position at all.

Gu Yuena looked at him wondering. While Yang Xinyuan suddenly wrapped her slender waist to break the distance between them.

Gu Yuena was obviously surprised. He felt ... dejavu. Was he in a position like this before?

"Yang Xinyuan ...." Gu Yuena wanted to say that she should look for her brother, but there was something that made her unable to continue the sentence.

What the hell's going on?

"Nana .. Can I call you that?" Yang Xinyuan asked in a low tone.

Gu Yuena silently looked at him, then nodded slowly, but the next second she shook her head. Shortly after, he nodded doubtfully and became more and more obscure.

What exactly did he want to say? Yes or no?

"Then I'll call you Nana." Yang Xinyuan smiled.

Unwittingly both, the appearance was seen by a pair of nightly blue irises that looked cold and emotionless. How not? They kissed in public, more precisely in a crowded square.

Fortunately, a girl in a white robe covering her pink dress came just in time before the bomb exploded.

"Youzhe, what are you doing here? The Assassin Guild in Wyvernia was already waiting for his next order. Gu Yuan looks like he wants to get out of town." Su Churan said seriously.

Bai Youzhe's gaze shifted immediately towards Su Churan. His face was cold and there was no warmth. He looked so angry that it almost scared Su Churan.

"What's wrong with you?" Su Churan ventured to ask.

"It's nothing. Tell them not to move. I'll handle it myself."

Su Churan was shocked. "It's out of plan."

"I know." Bai Youzhe just left with wide steps.

Su Churan looked at his departure in annoyance. If it is like this, the risk of identity being discovered is getting bigger. What happened to that strange guy?

Su Churan's gaze unintentionally looked towards Gu Yuena who looked as though she was a fool after being kissed by Yang Xinyuan. Su Churan frowned strangely.

Whereas on the other hand, Gu Yuena who was aware of the situation instantly took a few steps back in a state of chaos. He actually gave Yang Xinyuan some distance.

Is he really out of his mind?

"I'm sorry, I have to find my brother." Gu Yuena looked for an excuse to run away. Really, he didn't know how to face her.

He also ran away without turning his head.

Su Churan who saw him let out a sigh of resignation. This love triangle story .. makes his soul tired.

"There's a kind of misunderstanding. It's gonna be complicated." Moreover, the one who misunderstood here was Bai Youzhe. What's he supposed to do?

In such a silent forest, Gu Yuan rode his horse at a moderate speed.

Previously, he was busy looking for Gu Yuena. But this morning, he had seen Gu Yuena at the inn in a safe state. Moreover, there was a friend who was strong enough to protect him, he could already calm down.

Amidst the journey alone, suddenly a dark glint appeared out of nowhere. Something dark flashed so quickly, falling right in front of his horse that Gu Yuan had to jump off the horse due to the explosion.

Gu Yuan landed smoothly. But alas, his horse was burned to death by a pitch-black fire that was so terrifying.

In just one strike, it was able to burn a horse equipped with magic protection. What kind of power is that?

"Who?" Gu Yuan put on a cautious stance. Swords and shields appeared in both of his hands to prepare against the enemy.

A tall black-robed figure appeared several meters away. She is masked in black engraved dragon that covers her upper face—from nose to forehead—so her face is not easily recognized. Merely, he was a little familiar to Gu Yuan.

"Who are you?" Gu Yuan looked at him coldly. The strength of his opponent this time around was unusual and unpredictable. He should be careful.

The pressure from the attack was so intense that it made Gu Yuan retreat several meters away. Too hard, even to the point of making his shield run into blisters.

"What do you want?" Gu Yuan asked again. He did not know who he was offending until it gave rise to such a powerful foreign man. His strength was clearly higher than Gu Yuan's.

Did Alfonso send it?

The man looked at Gu Yuan with a cold and extinguished look. "simple."

For some reason, Gu Yuan felt familiar with his voice. But he can't remember it well.

Before he could react, the figure was already in front of him back with a sword slashed at high speed.

Clearly his opponent was an assassin.

Gu Yuan used his sword to counterattack. The white-colored flame flared like light and gave a huge flash towards the opponent. But the figure was too fast, faster than his attack.

When Gu Yuan was about to use his sword again to suppress the man, the man slid at high speed towards him with a bloodthirsty slender sword.

The sword was very clearly reflecting his brilliance, as if inviting him to join in smearing blood.

Gu Yuan did not have time to dodge. When he thought that he was about to split, the masked man simply changed the direction of his sword and struck him using the handle of the sword.

Still, Gu Yuan crashed far enough and fell down while spewing blood. The handle of the sword was very precise regarding his left chest.

Looks like the masked man didn't really want to kill him.

But even so, the man still gave quite a violent attack to her as if having a grudge.

The man again slid towards Gu Yuan, about to give him a hard blow from his fist.

Suddenly something unexpected happened.

A red glint flashed and pressed the man down until he had to retreat to keep his distance from the heat of the red flames that had appeared unexpectedly.

A female figure with both irises as red as blood appeared blocking the man from continuing the attack. The beautiful woman with no weapons and looks had no fighting ability, but there was actually such a powerful flame burning in one of her hands like blazing blood.

Gu Yuena has come.

It was fortunate that Xiao Hei timely gave him the news that Gu Yuan had left the city. So he was chasing. But who would have thought, someone was presumptuously attacking her brother.

"Gu Yuena, hurry up and leave!" Gu Yuan hurriedly asked his sister to leave. He must not let the man hurt his sister.

Gu Yuena slightly turned her head, then smiled, "I should have said that to you, Big Brother." His hand that gave off a red glow was directed at Gu Yuan.

Gu Yuan was surprised. In the next instant, a magic circle appeared and brought Gu Yuan teleporting to another place. Gu Yuan had already shouted to ask Gu Yuena to leave, but his voice was carried away by the red glow of teleportation that made him just disappear.

"Done." Gu Yuena sighed. Her brother is safe.

He looked at the masked man several meters in front of him coldly. That carefree and insensitive figure of Gu Yuena had disappeared somewhere, replaced with a clear look of anger and killing intent.

"I don't know what your goal is, but I won't let you hurt my brother. Supposedly, I am the one who is your target, Luo Youzhe." Gu Yuena pulled next to her eyebrows. "No, I'd better call you, Bai Youzhe"

The masked man was indeed Bai Youzhe. The blue iris of his night narrowed sharply. "You already know."

Gu Yuena drew her magic, collected it in her right hand and formed a long and slender sword. He is ready for this.

"You can tell my identity, why can't I know your identity? I had my doubts, but you've admitted it." Eyes sharpening. "You should have killed me in the first place."

Gu Yuena knew Bai Youzhe had no intention of killing Gu Yuan. But he remained very angry, seeing his brother being injured like that. Why not just him?

"You don't need an explanation for that."

"You want information, don't you?" Gu Yuena said in a cold tone. "Now that information is gone. What are you gonna do?"

Gu Yuan knew many things that he did not know, that was why Bai Youzhe had chosen to target Gu Yuan. If Bai Youzhe insisted on chasing after Gu Yuan, Gu Yuena would not mind fighting him.

Although he knew the difference in their strength was too far away, and had no chance of winning.

Bai Youzhe did not say anything.  This was her first time seeing Gu Yuena so angry that she did not hesitate to show her powerful magic power.

He admitted, this would be troublesome.

"You should have killed me. As long as I'm alive, I won't let anyone touch my family." Gu Yuena gave a warning.

"Is that including Linghun Palace?" Bai Youzhe.

That made Gu Yuena quiet.

Linghun Palace ....

He even doubted whether he really had any connection with Linghun Palace or not. Her father and mother are dead. He only had Gu Yuan. But why did Gu Yuan hide so much regarding Linghun Palace?

"Looks like you don't know anything." Bai Youzhe smiled wryly. He took off his black mask, revealing his handsome face which looked at Gu Yuena coldly.

Seeing that face, Gu Yuena somehow felt a strange thing in her heart. He was upset as to why Bai Youzhe had taken off the black mask instead. That strange feeling, made him very angry.

Gu Yuena took out the soul stone in her hand. To suppress that strange, suffocating feeling, he chose to vent it.

"You have other soul stones, while one of them is on me. You're looking for this, aren't you? Then take it, before I destroy it."

That soul stone was exactly in Gu Yuena's hands, emitting a dark aura that terrified anyone. Bai Youzhe was no longer astonished when she saw the soul stone held directly by Gu Yuena. It was because Gu Yuena was not just a part of Linghun Palace.

The first time he realized that the second soul stone was in Gu Yuena's hands when at the academy, he was, he was surprised and wondered why Gu Yuena could hold the soul stone directly whereas he had to coat his hand so that the soul stone power did not burn it.

Soul stones cannot be touched directly, except for the holder of soul power. The higher one's soul power, the more imperceptible the negative effects of soul stones were. That was why, the soul stone was placed in a wooden box with protective magic when the Ye Clan had it.

Bai Youzhe, however, had to obtain the third soul stone according to the original plan. Right now Gu Yuena could destroy it without experiencing any negative effects.

"Well, if that's what you want." Bai Youzhe immediately shot up, about to take the soul stone directly.

That's fast.

But Gu Yuena's movements were no less swift. The girl dodged just as the soul stone was about to be snatched, then swung her sword to attack Bai Youzhe.

The sword in his hand floated in the air, unsheathed and pressed Bai Youzhe to give Gu Yuena some time. That single sword split into pieces and charged towards Bai Youzhe like a whirlwind.

Gu Yuena stored the soul stones into the spiritual space, then controlled the swords from afar. Bai Youzhe used one sword in her hand to crush Gu Yuena's attack, then darted towards Gu Yuena.

Red magic fingers are formed. It was sticking out of the ground and attacking Bai Youzhe in a row. But the man was able to avoid it and continued to disappear from the area of attack.

It was as if he had predicted Gu Yuena's attack.

Gu Yuena's back suddenly cooled. He hurriedly turned around, then pulled the sword in the air in time into his hand before Bai Youzhe's sword touched him. Their two swords met each other, but Gu Yuena could not exert pressure any longer.

Their strength clearly had a difference that was as far apart as the ravine separating.

Gu Yuena teleported to another place, letting her sword help resist Bai Youzhe's attack even though it had to be smashed to pieces in the end.

Though he had already prepared to fight Bai Youzhe after hearing her story from Su Churan. But this difference is too visible. Gu Yuena had to think of a way to close the difference, even if it was only temporary.

While throwing magic quickly at Bai Youzhe who kept trying to get close, Gu Yuena kept thinking about what she was missing.

It has a magic circle, soul power, and phoenix blood. Right ... he has all three, then must unite them if you want to balance the battle. He could also have a chance to escape.

But if he combined the three, the fire poison would spread even faster. It's the same as suicide.

Never mind, rather than having to give up and be pressured constantly, it is better to take risks.

When Gu Yuena's entire attack was not successful, Bai Youzhe still outperformed the battle without expending all her strength to repel Gu Yuena,  Gu Yuena gathered all the surrounding energy to support the unification of the three powers.

He had not previously understood the power of the soul. But ever since Yan Shuiyin gave him the magic circle, he felt the soul force in his body react and could be used. He only needed to try, just like when trying the power of the phoenix blood.
