Hearing Leo's confident words, Valkazar could only be a little confused. There was nothing Leo had to support his words.
Strength? The intelligence? Strategies? An army?
No one can support his words. Even so, why could he be so full of such confidence?
"Say, man. Why are you so sure?" Ask Valkazar.
But Leo's reply was only one word.
"Ins."
Valkazar was surprised to hear such a ridiculous answer. He did not expect that the only man who could penetrate his castle and come face to face with it, would say that his instincts told him he would win.
"Haha.... It's up to you. Before I end your life.... What if you introduce your name? At least, I'll respect your name for being able to corner me like this." Obviously Valkazar while walking down his throne.
'Cloth! Klaakk!'
The sound of his footsteps wearing thick iron armor was heard echoing all over this throne room.
"Leos. You can call me by that name." Reply Leo briefly.
"Leo yes.... I'll remember that name very well." Reply Valkazar who continued to give his sharp gaze.
While stalling, Valkazar kept trying to assess the situation.
'Damos was away to uncover information regarding the true Mana Source of the Elf Envoy. While Verthis had gone to hunt down the rest of the Elves in Crystalcourt. In other words.... There's still a chance for them to continue this plan without me.'
Valkazar thought that even if he ended up here, trapped inside this space dimensional prison, his plan would continue even without him.
As for the one inside this castle right now, it was only himself and dozens of other lowly Devils.
As Valkazar began to wonder where his Demon subordinates were supposed to help guard this castle....
"Aah, waiting for reinforcements? Just chill. I killed them all before I came here." Said Leo with a satisfied smile.
'There was no doubt in his words, in other words.... He's telling the truth?' Valkazar asked in his heart.
Valkazar then walked towards a round table made of such beautiful silver. He pulled two silver chairs towards the table.
In a relaxed manner, Valkazar then sat down on one of those chairs.
"Please sit down, Leo. Let's talk for a moment." Valkazar said as he extended his right hand towards the seat on the other side of the table.
Leo, not feeling the slightest ill will from Valkazar, then immediately obeyed his words and sat down before the Demon King himself.
"Not to be afraid of me. Even if you fail to kill me, I will still be trapped in this world for quite a long time. So congratulations, mankind has gained a great advantage in this war." Valkazar said trying to make Leo not so wary of him.
Pretending to know nothing, Leo asked.
"Why is that?"
Valkazar slightly raised both eyebrows in the unexpected that he would hear the question.
"You serious? Didn't you use this space magic and trap me in it? And that's why you ran out of mana in your body?" Valkazar asked trying to figure this situation out a little more deeply.
Hearing the question, Leo saw a glimmer of hope. A hope that he can play a little to the knowledge of Valkazar.
"No. You wrong. I am not the one who uses this magic. After all, I have absolutely no Mana to use any magic. Just look at it yourself, the Mana core in my body is already destroyed." Reply Leo firmly.
Valkazar, immediately used his magic eyes to look deep into Leo's Mana core. And what he saw there was nothing but emptiness.
It was unmistakable, that the core of Mana Leo had been completely destroyed. But that doesn't explain the situation at all.
First, how could Leo lock him up in this magic? Is it true that Leo was not the one who did it? If not, then who? And how many are they?
Has the remaining Elf army united to create this large-scale magic?
No. gabe. That's not possible. As far as Valkazar was concerned, Elves did indeed possess immense Mana energy. But because of that, Elves always solve problems with their pure strength.
It did not make magic as complicated as it was done by humans to cover up their shortcomings in the weak energy of Mana.
If so, was his knowledge all along wrong? Did Elves indeed possess a secret magic as powerful as this since time immemorial? Waiting when to use it?
Moreover, the biggest oddity at the moment was the human sitting before him in a relaxed manner.
Why would he be that relaxed when facing himself? Which even the four high-ranking Devils are subject to fear?
Andwhy? How could one's Mana core be so badly damaged that there was no Mana in it? Even Mana seemed to stay away from Leo's body itself.
Drowning in questions of his own, Valkazar decided to stop thinking for a moment and do further analysis of the situation.
It's not wrong that he'll be trapped.
And killing this human in front of him would be of no use at all. There's absolutely no luck. Hence....
"Leo, how about we play chess?" Ask Valkazar.
Hearing the question, Leo was immediately surprised instead of playing.
It was not because the Demon King Valkazar asked him to play. And instead of getting ready to get rid of Leo immediately.
Except....
In the name of the game proposed by the Demon King Valkazar himself.
"Ca.... A tour? What'sthat?" Leo asked in confusion.
And as long as Leo lives in this fantasy world, for 8 years or more, Leo has never heard of the name of the game Chess.
There are several other games that resemble chess, but of course have very different names. And no one has that name.
Therefore, Leo has a bit of fear and coldness running through his body. Makes him wonder.
'Valkazars.... Who is he really?'
When Leo asked about it, Valkazar immediately replied.
"Well.... Excuse me. Of course humans don't know, do they? It was my game in my previous world. Whether you believe it or not, I was a human being." Reply Valkazar while immediately creating a chessboard with his earth magic.
It is complete with the whole piece and also two different colors in that game board.
Despite saying such a thing, Valkazar again thought in his heart.
'So it wasn't ya? To my knowledge, human heroes are those who come from the earth just like me. It seems this guy is just an ordinary person?'
"Huh?! You were once a human?! How could? Why was a Demon King once a human? Then if that's the case, why are you attacking humans in this world?" Leo asked in confusion.
"Hahaha, I'll explain if you can beat me in this game." Reply Valkazar while laughing lightly.
Valkazar then briefly explained the main purpose of this Chess game. To kill the king of his opponent.
Meanwhile, Leo still has to continue his acting in pretending to be ignorant of the game.
"Well! Just like Crossboard? But the difference is, this is only 2 players? In Crossboard there are 4 players and more pieces." Firm Leo.
"Hm.... Come to think of it, it is true. Chess is like a Crossboard game that is popular in the Eastfort region of humans. You play it often?" Valkazar asked while arranging the black stink.
"That's how. I used to play with my partner there." Reply Leo briefly.
"You're a soldier in Eastfort?" Ask Valkazar again.
"More precisely the commander at Rustfell. Or a Duke? At its core it's like that."
Again, Valkazar could not feel the lie from Leo at all. That's because Leo always mixes truth and lies. It makes it difficult for the interlocutor to distinguish what is real and what is fake.
After a moment of silence, Leo finally reprimanded Valkazar once more.
"So how? We gonna play? Just tell me the rules, I'm pretty good at board games like this." Said Leo.
"Well.... Youre right. I think we're gonna play. For his own rules...."
Valkazar then explains the rules of this game. Of course, with the change of rules to lure Leo to react.
He still could not believe that Leo was just an ordinary human being. And keeps trying to pressure Leo into revealing his true identity.
The rule change is the way the King moves, where the King has a distance of 2 squares at a time.
Then the Minister who has a limit of 4 squares in a form that is still the same as the actual chess game.
Then the Fortress also has a limit of 6 squares where the movement is straight as the original game.
The biggest change happened to the Queen and Points. Where the Queen has the same motion as the King but is as far as 3 boxes. Where he can move in any direction but cannot pass through the pawn in his path.
Pions can move a step or two forward. And one step back or to the side.
For the horse itself, the movement is still the same where the Horse can jump over other pieces. With the difference is that the distance of the horse's steps is usually 2 squares forward then turn to the right or left of one box, now it is 2 steps forward and 2 steps turn.
Very complicated changes in this game, of course, to ensure whether Leo really does not know this game.
And if Leo finds out, then Valkazar can be sure that Leo is a hero.
Why would you know that Leo is a hero?
Quite simple.
Valkazar just wants to try his own original magic. A sorcery.... Which instead of killing the soul of the hero before him.
Instead of making the hero's own soul as a bridge to enter the world of the Gods who sent them.
And that thing....
It was the only alternative opportunity for Valkazar to escape from this space dimensional magic prison.
But it required an incredible amount of Mana. Even for Valkazar. And he can not throw it carelessly because there may be other opportunities and opportunities in leaving this place.
Therefore, he had to make sure it was right. Whether the human before him was a hero sent by a God from another world or not.
Although Leo....
He had to fight to maintain his identity. Without him realizing that his opponent was finding out the truth about it.
The biggest bait from Valkazar, is the fact that he is trying to make a close bond with Leo to gain his trust.
And in the end....
Unlocking his true identity.
A battle of thoughts between the two people in this isolated world from elsewhere ensues.
A battle that will determine the destiny of this world.
