...- City of Venice -...
...- Slave Market -...
In the middle of this tent-only market, various crimes and atrocities could be seen in all directions. This is a world that is still backward. There are no human rights. Everyone can be a slave if they make a big mistake.
Caught by bandits, having huge debts, committing crimes, and much more.
In the end, they could only give their lives to fate. Expect that the person who bought them is a good person, or their acquaintances bought them to be free.
But the dream is like an empty wishful thinking that will never be achieved unless a great miracle occurs.
Normally, they would be mine slaves for life. Or else, they become forcibly employed building labor. Not enough food, drink and rest.
Leo and his enslaved group used to be much luckier than they were. That was because Leo and the others could have died just weeks after being enslaved. Freeing themselves from all future torments.
But for the unlucky enough, they could have lived 40 more years just as slaves who were even inferior to a horse.
And it was in this market that Leo and Selene went around looking at the various items.
"Quick move or I'll chop you up!"
"Basic useless!"
"Sell quickly and give me 20 silver coins!"
Various abusive words can be heard in the ears of everyone in this market. Selene herself is still a little traumatized by this condition. A life that has been passed for 2 months more by continuing to be in an iron cage.
It awaits whether in the future He will be bought and get bad luck, or die of hunger. That's why he always scares everyone who glances at him. So that no one would buy it.
"Sir...." Said Selene who started holding Leo's left arm.
Looking at his paled face, as well as the cold sweat that began to flow, Leo was aware of what he was feeling.
"I'm fine here. You can go." Said Leo while holding the holy sword he carried on his left waist.
"I'm sorry, sir. I'll be right back." Reply Selene who immediately stepped away from this market. His face looked pale with his right hand covering his mouth as if he wanted to vomit.
'Well, it's only natural that he was nauseous when he saw all this. Wasn't he just always locked up in the same tent all this time?' Leo thought as he watched dozens of people whipping, beating, and sometimes giving the stamp by burning the bodies of the slaves.
Various cries of pain can be heard. And every time they shouted, the torment they received would be even greater. The smell of blood filled this market because of the many wounds inflicted by the dissident slaves.
'Where are ya?' Said Leo while looking towards a large tent.
His goal was to meet the greatest slave merchant in the City. It has hundreds of collections that are sometimes still in fresh condition.
The number of collections that make Leo can take advantage of his Clairvoyance abilities as well as possible.
Leo walked slowly watching the whole slave in the cage. The merchant was busy serving other buyers.
After a while....
'Hmm.... They're not bad, but they're not good either. It seems that today's trading is not very interesting. All right, I guess I'll just do that.' Leo thought in his heart as he walked towards the Merchant.
Before replying, the merchant tidied up his collar and put on a wide smile.
"Good master, as your request, I'll recommend them." Reply to the merchant while leading Leo towards a pile of iron cages that are not so many.
"They are the slaves that I have made sure can help your work in terms of administration and so on. What's more, they're a little smarter so it'll be more useful to you." The slave trader.
Leo's eyes began to narrow. A thin white light was seen in Leo's eyeballs after he activated his Clairvoyance skill.
After a while, Leo had chosen the 3 best people for him.
"I have chosen. This one, that one and that one. How much is it for 3 people?" Ask Leo samb
A wide smile was seen on the merchant's face. Not only because Leo wanted to buy his merchandise, but also because Leo was able to choose slaves with great accuracy in terms of health and ability.
"Master, I'm sorry if I was presumptuous but.... Is that Leo named you? I heard the news about a merchant who had sharp eyes, just like you have."
"If I get a discount, then I'm the guy you said was Leo." Leo replied briefly as if he did not care about her.
"Buahaha! You're really interesting, Mr. Leo. Alright, as a bonus to you I'll give the three of them 163 gold coins." Reply to the merchant with a laugh.
Leo narrowed his eyes slightly as he directed his gaze towards the Trader.
"Isn't it too expensive for 3 people?" Ask Leo.
"They have the ability to read and write, and are a little smarter than others. What's more, they are still in good health and young. Of course it'll be expensive, Mr. Leo."
"All right.... Take these and prepare them." Said Leo while giving 2 Platinum coins which is equivalent to 200 gold coins.
"Haha! Master really understands us. Somebody! Prepare these three slaves for the generous Lord Leo!" Shouted the merchant as he immediately called out to his subordinates.
While Leo himself walked out of the market to wait for the goods he had just bought. He waited in the streets while watching how big the difference between the market and the city streets were only separated by a wall.
After a while of waiting, someone brought 3 slaves chosen by Leo.
"Sir Leo, this is your ordered item." Said one of the workers in the slave market.
"Thank you. This is for you." Said Leo while throwing one gold coin.
"Thank you very much, Mr Leo!"
After the officer walked away, Leo immediately checked back on his 3 new slaves who were all men.
He explained the rules when becoming his subordinates, and also the bonuses they will get when working well.
But apparently, one of the slaves did not seem interested in all of that.
When Leo is busy talking....
'Tap 'em! Sreeet!'
One of the slaves who had not listened since, suddenly grabbed the holy sword that was on Leo's left waist. Without a hint of hesitation, he immediately ran and tried to escape.
