Forgive Me Both
Grief News

After waiting almost 3 hours finally Faisal's car was seen stopping right in front of the fence of his house. Vani hastily stepped up, with a dead red face she immediately poked her husband with a question.

"Where are you going, Mom?!" asked Vani with a roar of breath that went up and down. Vani could not hold back his anger anymore when he saw Faisal was acting ordinary.

"I'm sorry, Van, there was a need for a little" the man replied, drawing closer to Vani.

"What need, Mom? You don't know if my mom is sick anymore? You're waiting for me there, are you?"

"Yes, I know, Van. But the boss doesn't give me permission if I don't finish my job first, Van. You know, right?"

Vani's anger that had exploded immediately evaporated just like that hearing Faisal's explanation. So, because her husband's job was late coming home. Vani's mind had drifted out of nowhere.

"I'm sorry, Mas. I'm too worried thinking about Mom." Vani bowed lethargic. It is now late afternoon. While the journey from here to the mother's house takes almost three hours. If this afternoon they leave, maybe reach the mother's hometown later in the evening. Vani feels guilty for lying to Nisa many times and says that she is already on her way.

"I'm resting, Van. Dingy. We'll be going out in the afternoon and it's okay, right?"

Vani took a deep breath. He could not resist because Faisal did look very exhausted. Vani goes inside the house and makes a warm tea for Faisal as usual.

By late afternoon they set off in a car driven by Faisal himself. Vani sits next to him with a face that is very difficult to interpret. Vani checks his phone to make sure there are messages or calls from Nisa again.

"Why don't you Why, Van?" Faisal turned towards the woman sitting beside him.

"Yes, Mom, I hope it's okay."

Only half the journey to Vani's hometown felt drowsiness that was not restrained anymore. Several times he yawned until finally Faisal told him to sleep.

"But no one will talk to you, Mom?" What will you do later?"

"No, Van. Later if sleepy can stop first. You sleep is okay."

Vani nodded in agreement. She closed her eyes for a while, before long the woman was completely asleep next to her husband.

The trip that should be taken about three hours now feels longer because of the condition of Faisal's body that is tired. Luckily, he had a short break before finally Vani forced to leave because he could not wait to meet his mother soon.

It may be a few minutes away from the car they drive to one of the hospitals in Vani's hometown. When Vani's phone that he left on the dashboard of the car rang very fast.

"Van ... wake up!" Faisal shook his wife's shoulder slowly so Vani would open her eyes immediately. The woman blinked for a while, then turned to her husband.

"Have you arrived, Mom?" ask Vani with a life that has not been collected perfectly.

"Yet. That's your phone. Lift it up!"

Vani glanced at the phone he just put down before he fell asleep earlier. Right, the flat object was flickering signifying the middle of the call.

Vani froze for a moment staring at the name on his phone screen.

[Van ...!!]

[Yes ... Nis, I'm almost sam– ..]

[Mother isn't there, Van. That's why we just left.]

The phone in Vani's grasp free-fall hit the bottom of the car. Vani nodded with an empty eye. Second next ...

"Van, what's wrong? Who's on the phone?" Faisal patted Vani on the shoulder, resuscitating the woman from her daydream.

Not a word came from the woman's lips. There was only a puddle of tears slowly flowing from both corners of his eyes.

"I–ibu, Mas ...."

Vani's tears were getting louder past both of her cheeks. His tongue feels mute, even to explain to the man next to him it feels like Vani is not able to.

"Mother ... What's the matter with Mom, Van?"

Faisal was forced to step on the brakes, looking for where his wife's mobile phone had fallen.

[Accounting .]

[Wa'alaikumsalam ... Van, where are you? My mother's body was brought home. You go straight to the house, ] said a girl across the phone.

A body? Faisal bengong himself.

Innalilahi wainnailaihi roji'un ....

Faisal whispered softly. He clasped his wife's cell phone tightly and turned to Vani who had been silent since without a word.

[We'll be here soon.]

End call. Faisal was forced to turn around and immediately increase the speed of his car to get to his in-laws' house.

Sure enough, not even the car entered the yard of the house, in front there already looks crowded. The neighbors work hand in hand to help prepare the body of Bu Lela before it will finally be buried later.

"Mother ..!!" Vani screamed hysterically after successfully opening the car door and running through the crowd in front of his house. Vani's tears increasingly see the body of the mother has been stretched stiff in there.

"Why did I leave, Vani, Mom .." isak Vani next to her body. The neighbors tried to calm down, but Vani rebelled and kept crying near the mother's body.

"Patience, Van. Don't believe me, I'll be sad." Nisa hugs Vani's body and tries to calm down. The girl could see for herself how devastated Vani was right now.

"Actually since when did Mom get sick, Nis? Why never tell me the same?" isak Vani in the arms of his best friend.

"It's been a long time since your mother got sick, Van. But, Mother always forbid me to tell you. He said you're afraid to think."

"So, I've been sick for a long time gini-rich, Nis? And, I ... don't know at all." Vani felt like the most useless child. While on the phone, he often heard his mother coughing. But, why Vani never put the slightest suspicion just because the mother said she was okay.

"I'm a useless kid, Nis. I have sinned against my own mother. If I hadn't come in late, I might still be Mom's foam at her last.

Vani was still crying in Nisa's arms, while Faisal could only look down sadly staring at her mother-in-law's departure without being able to say a word.

Faisal felt very guilty towards Vani. Because they are themselves late. If only this afternoon he had not eaten with his friends first, if only this afternoon he had not ....

Ah, that's it .. everything is done.
