FOUR SEASONS

FOUR SEASONS
Summer (Part 12)

That morning Kai's expression clearly looked agitated. Several times he walked back and forth without any intention of purpose. Many times he also took a long breath. And now, he stood knocking his feet, his gaze was thrown far away somewhere.

Caspian who noticed this gurgle was approaching soon.

"Yes bugup?" said grin.

Kai looked at her fiercely.

"Can you calm down?"

Caspian raised both his hands into the air. "OK. okay" he said, then retreated a few meters back.

"But just so you know, I'm human and have lived. This kind of in-laws business is small.."

Kai lifted his face, his eyes changing to show interest.

"Do you think that shaman woman will like me?"

Caspian chuckles. He darted back closer, patting Kai on the shoulder of the wise-ass. He is proud of the position of love advisor he has been in for several weeks.

"Let's just practice." That legless ghost sparked a magical idea. "I'll try to be a mother-in-law."

Kai's eyebrows blend perfectly. Caspian is a crazy ghost and he shouldn't have asked for his opinion on this. Not yet had Kai flicked his finger to expel, Caspian had already cleared his throat first.

"Ehem. So.." Caspian's eyes squinted sharply. "You're a young man close to my daughter?" she added with a contrived female voice, exactly the sound of grandmothers clamping the door.

"Do you love my daughter?" ask the Ghost-Mother-in-law again.

Kai spontaneously nodded, somewhat carried away.

"What's your job?"

A job?

Kai's black bead moved uneasily.

"I don't have a job."

Caspian clucked ala-ala Julia's mother-in-law.

"How long have you been unemployed?"

"For thousands of years?" kai replied unconvinced, his voice stuck in his throat.

"Ckck." Caspian shook his head incensefully. I don't know where he learned this kind of dialogue.

"Then will you feed my daughter, huh?"

"Wait a minute." Kai looked at Caspian. "This question leads to the private sphere. Our food is different, of course we take care of our food. I can't give Lalita the centauri's leg."

Caspian patted the eel, he nodded in disbelief. "You have no hope. I swear." He then ruffled his waist, putting on a serious expression. "Where are the prospective in-laws who like unemployed men!"

"Yes, what do I have to say? My job was hunting humans since then?"

"Ah, stop.." Caspian flicked his hand, giving up the illogical coachman's pretentious debate with this one demon.

"What matters is that it's actually a hand."

"Fruit hands?"

Caspian raised his index finger in front of Kai's face.

"First rule: bring gifts when visiting mother-in-law."

A bounty?

***

Kai and Caspian just came out of the forest that once ensnared Lalita. In Kai's hand now hangs a basket full of various forest berries that look so fresh. Yes, this is the offering for Tanana.

"You're sure I just need to read these grains?" Kai looked at his basket suspiciously.

"Gift doesn't have to be expensive. The important thing is to touch." The half-century-old ghost patted Kai on the shoulder again, as if giving the most terrible words of pearl in the universe.

"Oh, already.there go. I'm sure Lalita's waiting for you."

Kai sighed, taking his steps straight ahead. He was still doubtful about this gift basket actually. What if he had something more meaningful? For example, anaconda scales or hippopotamus molars. Ah, you fool.

"Tell my regards to my mother-in-law." from afar, Caspian waved full of haru.

Kai continued his journey. Fifteen minutes later he had already reached the flower hill. Lalita was there, standing smiling at him. Since when did he wait?

Kai reflexively hides the Berry basket to the back of his back.

"What's that?" Lalita turned around, looking at the thing Kai had hidden behind her back. The eyes of the row round funny saw a basket full of berries there.

"It's for your mother." The man scratched his neck in the wrong manner.

Lalita smiled broadly.

"That's sweet. My mom must be really happy."

Kai hurriedly stepped in the lead, too embarrassed to answer the compliment just now. Behind her, Lalita ran in her footsteps. A big smile adorned his face.

Once there, Kai again pegged in the temple courtyard. Back and forth the breath time and time again. Nervous.

Lalita who noticed the movements of this man, smiled and patted his shoulders gently.

"It's okay" he said guiding their steps into the temple.

"All will be well."

Kai looked at the jade bead straight. Slowly, he nodded. They walked towards the front door of the temple. Inside, Tanana sat cross-legged waiting for them.

"Mother, we're in." exclaimed Lalita announcing her arrival.

Kai took a breath once more. For thousands of years in life not once did he ever enter the temple. His feelings are uncomfortable.

And just as his feet stepped for the first time inside there, the small bells mounted at the entrance and on the ceiling rattled violently. So noisy.

"It's so weird when there's no wind." chirped Lalita in wonder.

The bells rarely sound, even if the wind blows in. It is said that the bells will only flinch to welcome something supernatural.

Tanana, with her shaman instinct, looked at the young man before her suspiciously. However he hurriedly controlled his expression, he should not act rashly before everything was certain.

"Mother, Kai brought you a present." Lalita, the only one who was unaware of the changing aura in this room, nudged Kai, coding to hand over his offerings.

Kai handed the berry basket without speaking, Tanana also received it without speaking. Accidentally their fingertips touched slightly, dann..

Whusshhh

Paper talismans mounted on the temple walls flapped, blown by a strong wind that was out of nowhere. Tanana gulps. Now he's sure.

"Lalita," Tanana hurriedly turned to Lalita who was wailing cluelessly, carving out a smile that clearly seemed forced. "Can you leave us both?"

Lalita seemed to disagree with the proposal. But looking at her Kai nodded towards her, smiling faintly.

"Ish, fine." said the girl half unwillingly. He looked at Kai and touched his back. "I'll wait outside."

Kai nodded in agreement. It's better that Lalita isn't here to hear anything that's going to happen.

Then after the girl stepped away, Tanana and Kai again threw cold glances at each other.

"I know you're not human." Tanana began, her tone sounding alert.

Kai did not answer, just looked at her straight.

"And whether you're a creature, I can sense that you're a very powerful, very dark entity."

"Your talent as a shaman cannot be doubted." Kai squinted sharply, his eyeballs turning reddish.

Shrakk!

A pair of black wings appeared from behind his back. Flapping, flying small objects around. Some of the shiny black fur strands were released and also flew.

Tanana, in great shock, threw the berry basket forward. All the berries picked happily by Caspian and Kai this morning are now scattered on the floor.

"Devil!" hiss Tanana hates. He stared at the pair of huge black wings that were up to drag on the floor. Hate and fear were mixed in his heart.

"What bad things did you bring to our village?! What a terrible thing you gave my son!"

Kai saw Tanana's lips shake, and his teeth were twitching. Both of his hands were also tightly clenched.

"He was destined to pair with me."

Tanana was stunned, her brown bead perfectly rounded. He staggered back and fell on the floor.

"Cannot be. There's no way my son.." the woman shook her head. He had heard about the relationship of destiny between humans and other beings, but this reality was very difficult to accept.

"You mean.." Tanana raised her face, looking up at Kai hatefully. "You mean my son is cursed?!"

Cursed?

Since he is a damned creature, then whoever becomes his partner is cursed? These are all curses? Bad luck for Lalita?

Kai laughed out loud. His laughter filled the room. Fuck those!

"He was destined for me." Kai darted quickly, clutching Tanana's face with his sharp pointed nails.

"Until death I'm not willing." sizzled Tanana, her eyes glaring fiercely with hatred.

Kai tightened his grip. The tip of her fingernails scratched the woman's cheek, making a drop of blood flow there.

Did I just kill you all?

"You think Lalita would accept you if she knew who you really are?"

The giant mace seemed to hit the man's consciousness. His grip reflexes loosened.

"She said she couldn't get away from me." Kai's whisper, more like convincing yourself. He took off his grip, his pointy nails returned to normal, and the huge black wings disappeared from behind his back.

Tanana wiped away the drops of blood on her face. He looked at Kai cynically.

"It's just because he doesn't know yet. You think he'll hang with you when he finds out the truth?"

Tanana could catch Kai's expression that was so hurt. Seeing that, the female shaman resumed, continuing,

"You just gave her bad luck."

Kai clenched his hands tightly. He's in love. He gives love. Is that considered bad luck? Half conscious he dragged his steps out. At the same time, Lalita ran from the courtyard, standing in the doorway with breaths up and down.

"I heard a noise. What's up?" tanyanya's worried.

Kai didn't answer, just stared straight at the girl. True as well, this girl is human, and will definitely hate her existence. Then without talking he just passed Lalita. Go without explanation.

Lalita wanted to chase, but Tanana held her back.

"Lalita, this is his decision. That you can't be together."

Lalita looked at her mother confused. What the hell's going on? Wasn't everything okay before? The jade beads went around, looking at the berries Kai was carrying splattered on the floor. Unknowingly, a single tear escaped from his jade bead.

Tell you what, Kai? You end it like this?
