FOUR SEASONS

FOUR SEASONS
Summer (Part 4)

Yesterday, when Kai set foot on this flower field, he didn't pay much attention. Millions of places he's been in for thousands of years. Even a flower field like this is not just one in the world.

But now, after he had gone around the hill, he sure was right. This was not the first time he had come here.

'It seems that I was here three hundred and fifty years ago.'

He really did not expect, after a long time he ended up returning to this place again.

"Kai! Comehere!" Shouted the girl caramelizing from a distance.

Kai looked around, he found the girl running around in the middle of a flower bed. Two butterflies flew in his footsteps.

"Kai, Here!"

The man shook his head small. Sometimes he felt that the girl was so innocent, exactly children.

"What's wrong?" Ask after their distance is close enough.

"See. It's similar to you." The girl crouched down, and showed the pansies clustered nearby. Its petals overlapping with the black stripes at the base of the petals created a cute angry expression.

Kai's eyebrows go up one.

"This is Pansy the grumpy flower. Look at the petals, like angry people, right?" Then with a wide grin, he continued, "As soon as I was here, I immediately thought of you when I saw this pansy. I think he's exactly like you."

With a contemptuous tone, the man replied, "Oh so so. You think I'm angry?"

Jade's eyes laughed. He plucked a piece of pansy, then grabbed Kai's palm, and placed it there gently.

"But they are honest flowers. The village elder said that pansies have a character that is not made up when dealing with others. Besides, they've got big ambitions for love." He spoke with a soft, soothing voice. "You should be happy to look like them." He elbowed Kai while laughing amusedly.

Kai harrumphed amusedly, staring at the flower in his hand while weighing it to be thrown where it would be.

"Don't throw it away." Chirps the caramel mane, as if it could read minds. "Save it and bring it home."

Kai paused his intentions when he saw the jade eye glaring comically at him.

"But" Sela Kai watched as the girl crouched back to touch the flowers, "Why are you talking to the plants?"

The plants did not speak, but he repeatedly found the caramel mane talking to the flowers. Just like when he had just arrived, he saw the girl chatting with sunflowers. You mean Kai, that's a plant? If it was a cat or a rabbit, maybe he could understand, but a plant? They don't even move if they're not blown by the wind.

"You know what not? The flowers we plant will thrive and be beautiful if we often invite him to talk."

Huh huh?

"They have feelings, Kai.."

Jidat Kai multiplied full of question marks with this absurdity.

The girl smiled in response to Kai's laughable expression.

"All the flowers in the world have their own stories. I've told you stories of sunflowers, poppies, and pansies. Other flowers have their own stories."

The girl moved her finger to call Kai, asking him to follow her. They walked away from the poppy, and passed through hundreds of other flowers.

They returned to where they first met. A small cliff clad in small green grass. The girl pulled her hand, approaching to the right side of the cliff.

"It's called Bleeding Heart. A bleeding heart." He said pointing at the shrub plants with red flowers sticking out beautifully. The shape is also funny, just like the heart.

"A long time ago there was a young man who fell in love with a beautiful girl." The caramel mane began to tell stories, then calmly continued, "He tried to attract the girl by giving her a gift. Starting from giving him a cute pair of rabbits, a beautiful pair of sandals, even a pair of jeweled earrings. However, the girl refused. The young man was so heartbroken that he eventually died. Shortly after being buried, from his tomb came the buds of a shrub plant. When spring comes, the plant flowers in the shape of a heart-like flower that is split while dripping blood."

"Wait, wait," Kai raised his hand interrupting, "Why do love stories about these flowers always end tragically?"

The girl laughed a little.

He again gently pulled Kai by the hand, guiding him further to the north side. From a distance of several meters, they could clearly see some trees as high as four to five meters in flowering. And around the tree, grow red flowers with a pair of beautiful arched pandan green leaves.

The jade-eyed girl squatted. Then touch the red flower as a typical ritual before telling a story.

"According to an old legend, there once lived a shepherd named Alteo who was reportedly as handsome as the god Apollo and as valiant as the demigod Hercules. Everyone who saw it must have fallen in love, including the fairy Amarylis. Alteo did not pay much attention to Amarilis and the other women. This young man was only interested in the beauty of flowers. Amaryllis is trying to get Alteo's love. As per the instructions of the Oracle at Delphi, Amaryllis had to knock on the door of Alteo's house using a white dress and stab her heart with a golden arrow. Amaryllis did it for 29 days. But on the 30th day, something different happened. Alteo opened the door and found beautiful red flowers blooming. That said, the flower was a drop of blood from the fairy. This young man immediately fell in love with a red flower that he had never seen and also on Amarylis. Amaryllis's heart pierced by a golden arrow also instantly healed back. They are united and live happily ever after."

"That's also the tragic part." Kai put on a less satisfied face. His index finger then pointed at the tree in front of them, "Is there a story about this tree as well?"

"Oh sure. That's a magnolia tree."

"What's the story tragic too?" Kai looked at her suspiciously.

Jade-eyed girl chuckles. "The story of this one comes from a far country. People say that Magnolia is the embodiment of a brave woman. He went to war for his family and his people. He was made a great general, met someone and fell in love, then lived happily."

Kai nodded with satisfaction. Finally, there is a story that suits his taste.

The sky is turning yellow. The sun is almost to the point.

The girl snatched the wicker basket full of poppy from Kai's hand.

"Now I have to go home."

"There are still many more flowers here to tell." Kai looked at her half unwillingly.

Which is seen as just laughing.

"One day won't be enough to tell them all. We'll have to meet tomorrow, tomorrow, tomorrow, and tomorrow again to tell you everything."

The wind blows softly. The caramel strands swayed weakly and the beads glittered. Kai felt like he remembered something.

Ah, names!

"It's-"

"Eh, look.."

He had not finished talking, the girl had already left first. He sat down near the magnolia tree in the back row. His fingers banished the tall Amaryllis, and revealed a small blue flower hidden behind it.

"When God created the universe, it was time for God to decorate it with a variety of very beautiful flower plants and various kinds." The girl's voice was sweet.

For a moment, Kai was stunned. He remembered this story. This was the story he had heard every night before he even met this girl.

While the girl, with a beaming face still continued, "Then one by one the flowers were named: starting from the Rose named Rose, the Daffodil named Lily, Tulip, then Magnolia, followed by Frangipani, and then later on, Poppy, Pansy, Jasmine aka Jasmine, Lavender, Geranium, and Aster. They were very happy with their names. Then there was a beautiful little flower among the bushes under the rose that had not been called by God. So the unnamed flower cried out to the Lord and said: 'Forget me not, my Lord! Forget me not!'. Then the Lord smiled as he looked at her and said: 'Then shall it be your name..'."

Kai felt a great sigh in his chest. His eyes pounded on the little blue flower that was hiding timidly. It seemed like a strange strong feeling to always protect the little blue flower.

"The name of this flower is forget me not." The girl plucked a piece and handed it to Kai. "My mom says, if two people take care of my surprise with affection, they won't forget each other."

The wind blew again, tickling the man's heart.

"I don't know your name yet.." Lirih.

Jade-eyed girl put on her best smile.

"My name is Lalita."

Then, forget me not, Lalita..
