CHAPTER 13. PROCESSION OF THE MANAGEMENT OF THE CORPSE

An ambulance carrying Devina's body has arrived at Andara's mansion. Papa Andara, Mahen and several male nurses lowered the body from the ambulance to the place provided by mbok Ijah and other servants.

Although the rain has not completely subsided, but it is not a barrier for the neighbors to come to help.

Devani, holding Annisa, approaches the body of her twin sister. Tears were unceasingly dripping from both eyes as well as Annisa.

Annisa is hysterical, she screams, while shaking her mother's body and saying, "Mama.wake Ma, wake up! this is Nisa Ma.hiks. Huwaaa..why do you not want to wake Mother? Come Bun..wake up Mama!"

Devani hugged Annisa tightly, she could not bear to see the wailing of the little girl. Everyone present also cried, seeing Annisa who was still that small had to lose Mama and her future sister.

Mahen was also powerless to hold back tears, then he approached his little daughter, stroked her hair while saying, "Don't cry son, let mama calmly go to heaven, we pray mama yuk, please, we pay for Mama" said Mahen.

"Hailway...Papa..why do you live in Nisa! Nisa wants to come with Pa's mom!"

Mahen's heart was sliced, his chest was tight, then he held his little daughter while saying, "Nisa can't talk like that, if Nisa comes along, Papa who is Nak? Let's teach, look... Mother and Eyang also taught to pray for mama."

After being persuaded by Mahen, Annisa also said, he took the book iqro' and helped chant the verses from the short letter. The day that grew late and tired, finally made Annisa fall asleep next to the corpse of her mother.

Then Mahen picked up Annisa, moved her to the room. Then Mahen returned to the side of his wife's corpse to teach again with the others.

In the morning, the penteces arrived. Neighbors, friends, close relatives and distant relatives have gathered to carry out the process of organizing the body.

Now Devina's body has been bathed and forgiven, then continued with the last Pilgrimage for the family.

Devina's late face looks so auspicious, clean and her lips singleness smile to make the pentakziah comment that Devina is not dead but asleep.

Papa, mama, Mahen, Devani and Annisa as well as other relatives one by one kissed the corpse for the last time while saying a prayer.

Cries filled the room again, but as much as possible they refrained from lamenting until the procession was complete and continued with sholling the body.

After finishing the sholatan, Devina's body was ready to be sent to her final resting place.

When the ambulance was ready to leave to take the body to the Public Cemetery, cries were heard again, the body of Mama Intan suddenly fell to the floor, he fainted because he could not accept the reality and endured his sadness.

Neighbors and relatives helped lift the mother into the room and accompanied her, while Papa, Mahen, Devani and Annisa helped deliver the body to the TPU.

The funeral home was seen deserted after the bodies were moved, now there are only a few helpers, neighbors and relatives who are helping to improve, clean the house.

While at TPU, finished reciting the prayer, Papa and Mahen, ready to go down to the pit to accommodate the body of Devani to be buried.

After putting the bodies in place, they went up and began to slowly close the burrows with the ground.

Papa and Mahen refrained from feeling sad so that their tears would not drip there. Only a string of prayers and goodbyes accompanied Devina's body which had been buried in the ground.

Devani clutched tightly to the little princess of the late brother, both of them cried bitterly.

'Happy path Devina and the future baby grandpa, may you both be calm and heaven is your best place there" said Devani.

After the prayer recitation was finished one by one began to leave the place, including Papa. He was worried thinking about the situation of Mama Intan at home.

There are Mahen, Devani and Annisa. Mahen and Devani are trying to persuade Annisa to go home but the little girl is getting stronger holding her tomb while sobbing.

It was almost dark but Annisa still did not want to leave the place, until Mahen persuaded her by saying that tomorrow they would come again to visit the pusara of the Mama.

Finally Annisa agreed, and Mahen took her away from the place with Devani.

Upon arrival at home, Devani immediately bathes Annisa, then takes her to her room. But when Annisa was about to fall asleep, Mahen appeared at the door and knocked on her saying, "Sorry Van, I want to take Annisa. Let Annisa sleep in her mother's room tonight, with me."

Devani invites Mahen in to take Annisa. The little girl who was tired from crying all day was drooping in the sling of the Papa.

Mahen put Annisa to sleep in her room while singing a lullaby that Devina used to sing during her life.

Mahen wants Annisa to continue to feel the love of her mother, through her. Although he had reaped protests from his little daughter, that Mahen's voice was bad, not as good as Devina's late voice.

After Annisa falls asleep, Mahen leaves the room, joins Papa, neighbors, friends and close relatives who will start the event.

While Devani went to accompany Mama Intan who is currently being treated at home by Doctor Maya.

Maya doctor was also concerned and sad for the disaster that befell the Mahen family. He regretted that had Devina been told to take a break this morning and forbade him from going to school, this disaster might have been avoided.

But fate no one knows, when and where each servant will be called back by the owner of life.

Death is sure to come and no one can escape when the time has come, as mentioned in His Word :

أَيْنَمَا تَكُونُوا يُدْرِكُكُمُ الْمَوْتُ وَلَوْ كُنْتُمْ فِي بُرُوجٍ مُشَيَّدَةٍ

“Wherever you are, death will get you, even if you are in a high fortress again sturdy.” (QS. An Nisa’: 78).

Everyone knows …

No man is eternal …

وَمَا جَعَلْنَا لِبَشَرٍ مِنْ قَبْلِكَ الْخُلْدَ

“We did not make eternal life for any human being before you (Muhammad).” (QS. Al Anbiya’: 34).

That is certain …

God is eternal …

كُلُّ مَنْ عَلَيْهَا فَانٍ (26) وَيَبْقَى وَجْهُ رَبِّكَ ذُو الْجَلالِ وَالإكْرَامِ (27)

“Everything on earth will perish. And remain everlasting the substance of your Lord who has greatness and glory.” (QS. Ar Rahman: 26-27).

Then …

Every soul will feel death …

كُلُّ نَفْسٍ ذَائِقَةُ الْمَوْتِ

“Every soulful will feel dead.” (QS. Imran Ali: 185).

Ibn Kathir rahimahullah said, “What is meant by the verses above is that everyone will definitely feel death. No one can survive death, whether he tries to run from it or not. Because everyone has a definite death.” (Tafsir Al Qur’an Al ‘Azhim, 3:163).
