HE'S NOT HUMAN

HE'S NOT HUMAN
CHAPTER 9

Bella takes a sip of her hot chocolate, while Arro is now sitting next to her. The wall clock in the main hall already showed at 4 a.m., which means it's been 2 hours since Arro and Levi saved him.

"Didn't you want to rest?" ask Arro.

"I'm tired, but I really want to listen to everything." Bella changed her sitting position. He lifted up his legs, folded them and turned his body to the side of Arro.

Arro leaned his back against the back of the sofa. Her memory returns when she sees Bella in the filthy prison cell. His emotions are back. He didn't know they dared to touch him. Arro glanced at Bella who was still faithful waiting for him to start telling stories.

"Well, what do you want to ask?" Arro closed his eyes, he wanted to ease his emotions a little. In her heart, she was a little relieved to see Bella was not hurt in the slightest.

"So, who kidnapped me? And why would Zayn ... be there?" Bella started the question. A disappointed look was clearly painted on his face. Zayn, a friend who has filled his days and taught Bella new things. Bella thinks she can finally make another friend, after all this time.

Arro took a deep breath, "His name is Abercio. He's Argus' accomplice. And Zayn ..." Arro stopped his sentence, his jaw hardened again, his hands clenched in anger "He should have killed when I saw him in the store with you."

Bella carefully stroked Arro's wrist gently. Tranquilize. Arro smiled faintly got that treatment. The heat on his head was like being doused with cold water.

"Zayn is one of the special forces. He's been ordered to keep an eye on you, ever since you met me in the dark hallway that night. I didn't know that Zayn was on Argus' side. He used to be known to be very loyal to the King" he continued.

"Did they hurt you that day?" Bella looks on Arro. It is still clear that Bella recalls the wound all over Arro's body.

"Yes. Argus' men hurt me. They attacked us, while we were off guard." Arro looked at Bella's face like confusion. He took a deep breath, he was choosing where he would start his story from.

"Come here!" exclaiming Arro softly, he pointed to his side. Bella approached carefully, she lowered her legs and sat down right next to Arro. Arro stretches his hand over Bella's shoulder and gently caresses Bella's mane. The soft caress made Bella feel comfortable. Arro brought Bella's head to lean on her shoulders. That comfort has now multiplied many times over.

"We are angels, from the Kingdom of Vasileion. The kingdom used to have a King by the name of Lexander Kyrillos, who had only one son as his Crown Prince's Son." Arro started the story.

"Since birth the Prince was trained to be the successor of the kingdom. But, until the time he could replace the King, his Pragma disappeared at birth. The Prince searched the entire kingdom, even crossing into other kingdoms to find the Pragma, but the result was nil. The Prince is also labeled as the Crown Prince. Who cannot be the successor of the kingdom."

"Pragmas? I remember Abercio using that word," Bella said, still enjoying the caress of her hair.

"Pragma is the Eternal Couple. Each angel has only one pragma. If they have met, bound and blessed. Then their strength will be stronger. It even carries a power that they haven't had before" Arro explained.

"Each angel has one mark on their chest that is the same as their pragma, just below the collarbone. Every birth of their partner the sign will shine brightly and if the sign disappears, then their partner is dead."

"Then ... What about your pragma? Was it born?" Bella said it in a low voice, almost like muttering. He was a little unprepared for Arro's answer.

Arro nodded softly and said, "Have already been born." Arro saw the change in Bella's countenance. Bella wants to raise her head that is still leaning on Arro's boat, but Arro holds her back.

Bella actually did not want to ask anymore, but the curiosity in her heart continued to interfere. "And ... What if your pragma dies, what happens to you?" ask Bella carefully. I don't know, a little inside of him was hoping that would happen.

"If we have not been bound and blessed, then my strength is only the basis on which I am born, a common power that all angels possess, such as flying, hypnotizing, and using simple spells … but if he dies after we're tied up, then my strength is all I've gained since he's been with him and won't develop anymore" Arro replied.

Bella nodded in understanding, then a question came to her mind, "Can an angel refuse her pragma? I mean, what if he loves another angel? Or a man of the human race." Bella's last words were barely heard. It's like talking to himself.

Arro watched Bella for a moment before replying, "I've heard that story. An angel betrays his pragma, just before they are blessed. All I know is that his angelic powers will weaken and disappear if his energy is exhausted. Therefore, if he wanted to live longer, he would have to conserve his energy and not use his strength at all."

Bella was silent. If it had to be forced like that, then it would be the same as a suicide mission for an angel. Bella realized, apparently, there was no gap for her with Arro. Bella breathed heavily. The answer was exactly as he had thought so far. An impossibility.

Bella calms herself down, there's more to her feelings. "Then, who's Argus? Why did Abercio and his army rebel and attack you?" bella asked, she tried to take her mind off her messed up heart.

Arro could not see the look on Bella's face anymore, Bella looked down deeply, avoiding Arro's gaze. Arro took a breath, and answered Bella's question. "Argus, is the King's brother. When Argus learns that the Prince has lost his Pragma, he kills the King. Argus then instigated the entire royal people to exile the Prince. But, the Prince did not stay silent, He looked for all the evidence to show that his uncle killed the King. When Argus learned of the move, that's when he went after everyone who sided with the Prince."

"Did the Prince find any evidence of that?"

"Unfortunately not. My uncle is very clever. It turned out that he had gathered an army to rebel against the kingdom even before the death of the King. So many are on his side. Therefore the Prince was greatly overwhelmed."

"I'm sorry for the Prince, too" said Bella very quietly before closing her eyes and breathing regularly. Arro, realizing Bella was asleep, lifted Bella up to her room and laid her down quietly.

Arro looked at the peaceful Bella in his sleep. "Good sleep, Prince Pragma," said Arro softly and then slowly peeked at Bella.
