There was no answer from across the phone because Alex now feels that Alesha's words are a threat that seems to be chaining her.

Without waiting for an answer from across the phone, Alesha reflexively hid her phone under a pillow and moments later the mother had entered the room with the nurse pushing a wheelchair.
Alesha saw her mother in a wheelchair with a nurse who was always faithful all day to take care of her mother. There was guilt and regret from him upon seeing that.
He realized that until now he could still see his healthy mother by being cared for by the nurse because thanks to Rafael— a man who was very hated.
Alesha now realizes that the hatred for Rafael is excessive because she thinks he is a cheap woman.
If she wasn't close to Alex until staying at the man's apartment, where would probably be considered a cheap woman.
Today, he plans to establish a good relationship with Rafael because he needs it for the sake of a fake marriage to be lived. So, he'll end up fine after a month of divorce.
