"What does Mama mean?" Rafael suddenly asked in shock at what his mother had just said.
He never thought that his mother would suddenly make a decision that quickly. Even during the trip, they did not talk about anything.
Tiana turned to her son. "Sure you've come?" He asked casually. "Yes, you heard it yourself, right? Mama decided to postpone your wedding plans."
Raphael clenched his jaws now, while Alesha only paid attention to the situation.
It was clear before Alesha's eyes, that the man was now angry after hearing the mother's words.
For some reason, Alesha did not understand. The man's complex feelings were always confusing and problematic to him.
"Why, Ma?" Raphael asked again. "Isn't it Mama who urges us to get married right away to do it in various ways? When I agreed, Mama made a decision like this."
Tiana now raised her eyebrows. "Rafael, don't you see the situation now? I admit, I was actually guilty of pressuring you, but that was before I knew Alesha was going through this kind of trouble."
"Alesha's mother was ill and had to spend the whole day in this hospital room. He has to do various treatments and treatments. Not to mention having heart surgery afterwards. Do you think I'm not selfish if we continue the marriage?"
Rafael fell silent, exhaling sharply now.
"Look, marriage is a sacred time. For you, this may be your second marriage, but for Alesha, this marriage will probably be the only one in her life."
"For Alesha, that pivotal moment will be remembered for the rest of her life. How it was celebrated, where it was held, who was with him and his mother were the ones who were very important to him."
“Both Alesha and her mother would not want to share that important moment together. As a mother, I can't let Alesha's mother miss the opportunity to witness her own daughter's wedding." Tiana went back to explaining at length.
Rafael who heard the explanation could only sigh at the end. Now he was even confused as to what to answer. He felt that the two women who had significance in his life were playing tricks on him— his mother and ex-wife.
"Okay, then it's Mama's decision." Rafael said calmly.
The man then rubbed his face furiously. "Ma, I'll wait in the car. Come back when it's done. I'll be back at the office after lunch."
Rafael then turned around, stepped out his legs and left the two who seemed to still want to talk about some things.
Rafael is now heading to his car which is parked quite far away in the front corner. The man then got into his car, sitting with an angry thought about many things.
Now he was drinking mineral water from the bottle next to his door. Satisfied after finishing it, squeeze it and throw it into the small trash bin next to it.
Real dumb. Thoughts about a holy marriage, a once in a lifetime marriage, or anything that makes Rafael want to laugh. Their relationship was even a joke.
Rafael is really confused by what he feels right now. Surprised, upset, angry, disappointed or whatever. He cannot conclude with certainty.
Rafael obviously felt very upset by his mother's decision which suddenly turned out like that. Rafael felt himself to have been deceived.
His feelings were now shaken like a sailboat being hit by a storm.
In fact, the man felt he had spent all his energy making such a difficult decision.
It took time and agonizing thought for him to successfully decide. Decision to marry. He doesn't even know if he will be able to make the same decision on another day.
However, today, his mother made a decision for him as if it meant nothing. His mother even decided to just cancel his plan.
Rafael is keen to speed up the process and get through everything well
Of course, for everything to happen quickly. So, all he has to do is wait until next year and he will decide to get a divorce. However, today everything seems to have returned to zero.
The man slowly closed his eyes and leaned his suddenly dizzy head on the car seat. He tried to rest his mind for a moment. At least a few seconds, a few minutes or a few tens of minutes.
Until a while passed, now Rafael heard a knock on the car window from outside. Then the man opened his eyes, looked to his left and found his mother back. He moved to unlock his car.
Tiana then opened the car door and sat down next to her son.
The journey passed in silence. Rafael was still busy with his disappointed thoughts, while Tiana was busy staring at the streets. Until a while later, the woman seemed to think of something that had been forgotten.
"Rafael," called the woman, making Rafael suddenly mutter in response to her call. "Mama just thought of something."
******* the plan is now slowly coming out of Rafael's mouth. "What else, Ma?" The man asked, anticipating and not trusting himself.
"Looking at Alesha, his fate is very unfortunate. I remember myself when I was living hard. Our lives are also very difficult. Stuck in poverty, always in trouble, and always forced to work hard all the time."
The woman turned around, looking at her son from the side. "However, you're lucky. I'm still healthy, so I can work at Miss Aeleasha's parents' house, so I can pay for your studies. You can finally continue your education."
"Yes, that's right. Our circumstances are lucky enough to be compared to theirs due to the interference of Aeleasha and that bastard—man who took Aeleasha from me."
Rafael responded with a feeling of anger and annoyance as he recalled his dark past.
Tiana who this time only saw the reaction of her son, knew how Rafael felt, but this time she wanted to talk seriously about Alesha. It's not about the heart problems of the man behind the wheel who's heartbroken.
"However, seeing Alesha now, I'm sad. He could not continue his education because he did not have money, then his mother was sick. Alesha should have been able to save up to continue her education, but due to the unexpected, so had no chance."
Tiana turned her gaze forward. "Now her mother's condition is even more surprising. My God, how did Alesha get through all this so strongly?"
Rafael smiled slightly. "That's what Alesha was proud of," he muttered slightly.
"Mama thought of telling her to continue her education. After all, her marriage has not been decided. It would be better if time was devoted to this."
"Next, given your position, you are now the leader of the company. Thinking of public opinion later, it would be better for Alesha if she started to continue her studies." Tiana smiled, now looking at her son.
"Rafael, convince Alesha and prepare her tuition money."
Rafael frowned now. "Wait, why me? Oh no. I mean, it's Alesha's business and she better make her own decisions?"
Tiana was now breathing violently. "Rafael, do you really not understand? Sometimes there are things that cannot be said, but the truth is clear."
"Do you think Alesha will be honest and accepting if I offer her? The woman will definitely feel bad and refuse. Then, just do it on Mama's orders."
"I, as a future mother-in-law, also want my son-in-law to have a higher education to avoid the bad opinions of others who see your togetherness."
Rafael thought about it. The man finally took a deep breath and then nodded, as if resigned to whatever his mother had ordered him to do.
"Alright, Ma. As per orders, I will carry out. After all, that's a very good reason" he continued slowly.
Seeing her son accept her request, the woman could not help but smile.
"good. Do your best for your future wife. Your future wife should not be insulted because of her low education. Alesha will be the wife of a CEO. So, there will be many people who can look for their weaknesses. "
"I don't want Alesha to be sad anymore just because of such a trivial thing. So, I want everyone to respect her as the wife of the CEO of a big company."
Tiana actually understood that her son was unwilling to accept the company that Arsenio, Aeleasha's husband had given her because of the good of the past.
However, because Aeleasha often contacts him and says that Arsenio will still make Rafael as the owner of the company, so do not deny that the kindness of his former daughter-in-law is a blessing for his family.
Though destroying Rafael's feelings, he hopes time can heal the wounds in his son's heart.
Meanwhile, Rafael is currently unable to stop massaging his temples due to his mother's over-demand.
'It's just a fake wedding. Why must it be so annoying? I'll even divorce her after a year of marriage. Just because of the marriage contract, I have to worry about this, ' said Rafael who can only do it in his heart without being able to express his emotions to his mother.
To be continued...
